New Love: Large Hoop Earrings

January 9, 2011 Paris B 35 Comments

I’ve always liked the look of large hoop earrings, but I used to think they accentuated the roundness of my face. Well, they do, but I’ve reached the stage where I’m past caring 😀

gold hoop earrings!

So I now wear large hoop earrings and I like how classic they look. A gold pair of hoop earrings never go out of style 😀

I’d been looking for a pair of nice classic large gold hoops for a while, but its surprisingly harder to find than you think. I eventually picked these up at the place I’d least expected to find anything – Vincci.

gold hoop earrings

They looked gold enough, and were large enough to be interesting yet inexpensive enough that I wouldn’t mind experimenting with them. I think I paid RM20+ after 20% off.

They are quite comfortable on my ears albeit a little heavy after a while. The clasp is a little tight though so one ear gets a little uncomfortable after a while but I did not react to the metal which is a good thing for me.

I don’t wear earrings often enough. I think I’ll start again 🙂

I think they look great on you! I’m trying to wear more dangly earrings this year, so am sitting here with some $5 Diva specials!

Thank you Sam! I love dangly earrings too! In fact I think I prefer something ostentatious for the ears rather than studs 😛

I love hoop earrings – in all sizes – despite having a round face! But I think that it does have to be matched either shorter hair or an up-do/pulled-back style. It just doesn’t go with my middle of the back length hair swishing everywhere.

Yeah I think hoop earrings do look better with shorter hair because they don’t get hidden. That said, I’ve seen pictures of women with lovely long hair who do pull it off effortlessly so I’m sure you can too! 😀 It looks effortlessly chic

I have a silver sterling pair that looks similar to yours, and it has lasted me AGES! It’s timeless, I agree, and it goes with anything I wear!

Yay! I usually wear silver/white gold but I decided to go with gold this time for a change. I love the timeless classic look and you’re right. It goes well with anything and I even wear it to work. When I have nothing majorly serious on of course 😉

Been wanting to get myself large loop earrings that don’t look too ‘cheap’. The last one I had didn’t exactly look very nice :\ …yours looks lovely!

I have an unmanageable craze for earrings. Its kinda like your love for blushes I suppose. Haha! I love to go to those morning flea markets, especially the ones in the Curve. there used to be a stall there with gem/semi-precious stone earrings which I cant get enough of. Don’t see it around anymore 🙁

I constantly have to remind myself that I only have 2 piercings…well that was until I got 2 upper earlobe piercings…. ;P . I shud blog about my earrings one of these days..haha!

I know what you mean about hoops looking cheap. That was my criteria too 😉 Try looking in Vincci – they really surprised me this time 😀 I used to buy a lot from the bazaars too but I’ve since stopped going. Now I pick up anything that looks interesting, or I hit up sweetcontemplationaccessories.com for some awesome unique designs! 😀

Oh they look good on you! Actually I believe that hoops look good on any shape face! I used to collect them–gold, silver, textured, etc. 🙂 Now I’m too lazy to wear ear rings..must get back into it. Thanks for inspiring me!

Hey Monstro, careful baby doesn’t decide those pretty dangly earrings are a good thing to grab onto! 😉 I’m slowly getting back into the groove of wearing earrings. I’m just usually lazy 😛

Ooohhh!! Thats lovely!! You need to wear them more often! Methinks that they look beautiful on you!! 😀

I gotta go Vincci soon to check them out! I hope they have a pair that is less “gold”… i’ve been looking for a pair like that for ages!! 😀

And yes, hoop earrings don’t go out of style. I have a pair of silver ones which have lasted me from my secondary school days until now and am still getting compliments for it. Best part? I think they cost me like like RM10 or something only! 😀

ps: other than hoop earrings, the Chanel double C earrings have been on my wishlist since forever. Maybe someday when i have lost whatever’s left of my sanity, i will actually plonk down so much money for a pair of nickel plated earrings! I hope that doesn’t happen soon though – because actually i’m allergic to some nickel earrings!! And my husband might leave me! lol!! 😛

Thank you Jenn! 🙂 There are some less gold earrings in Vincci, but I’m not sure if the plain hoops come in that colour. I know they have silver which is quite pretty too. I’m glad my addiction to luxury items stop at their bags. I was at LV once and saw the prettiest pair of earrings EVER! The price quoted was in 5 digits. For 5 digits I could get real gold and diamonds at a jewellery store! So that ended my wants 😉 See if you can get something similar done up at a jewellery store with a similar type of design. Some stores can do it (and it’ll cost you less… and won’t cost you your husband 😉 )

I’ve always wanted to use them but everytime I do so, it just doesn’t work for my face, actually the real reason is…I always accidentally grab my big hoop earrings or brush it which causes me to go “OUCH!!!”

large hooped earings only look good on short hair IMO. They look horid on my long straight hair for some reason. on my SIL, they look stunning. I think you look professional and sweet at the same time.

Thanks! 🙂 I think long hair hides the earrings so you don’t see it and thus its like a “waste”. I’m sure you look lovely with chandelier earrings!

I cannot use earrings but on my right ear due to allergic reaction. It is interesting because people always think I’m somewhat of a deviant because of it – and my hairdresser always fears the left earring went down the drain!

But I’ve stopped using them for some time now. It seems I can use only 18K gold earrings – my allergy has something to do with the purity of the gold. Too bad I don’t have the money to indulge in it. 🙁

I used to be allergic to anything other than gold. It was expensive and so I never/hardly ever wore earrings because pretty real gold earrings can be very costly! But I later lost that allergy (thank goodness!). I like 18k gold. It suits my skin better whereas goldsmiths here use the 22k gold which is too yellow for me. Purer but too yellow. Boo!

I love hoop earrings too! But I found that after a while the coating at the back part (where it touches my neck) disappears, leaving a black oxidised look. My sweat must be too acidic for them… -_-”

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
Thanks for the gift @tnsskinlab and I must apologise for my tardiness 😩 I’ll learn to cope better from next week!
