Your say: What beauty products can’t you get enough of?

December 14, 2010 Paris B 74 Comments

A couple of weeks ago, we talked about the beauty products we just can’t get into, and I told you mine was nail polish. From comments, it appeared that nail polish and hair care products took top billing on most of your lists too!

Now that we’re done ranting, come share with me what beauty products you are into 🙂

You know what I'm into - how about you?
  • Save

Mine are manifold, and I’m torn between lipsticks and blush but my first love of blush (or blusher as its known in this part of the world) wins out.

Yes ladies, blush is my crack, as they say 🙂

When I first started using makeup on a daily basis, it was just powder, lipstick and blush. It took me a while to learn to stop looking like a clown, but I persevered because I love how blush, depending on the colour you use, can make you look fresh faced and brighten your skintone even when you are looking and feeling dull and sallow or pale.

From my first blush which was from L’Oreal Blush Delice, I quickly progressed to others, both high end and low end. If you take a peek in my blush drawer, you’d find quite a healthy mix of brands in there, from Maybelline all the way to NARS and Chanel 🙂

So oui, give me a choice of beauty products to take with me on a desert island and blush will probably feature. It is still the beauty product I splurge on the most, nevermind that I can’t fit anymore into the drawer. They can stack up 😛

Very quickly and generally, my favourite low end blush will be the Maybelline Angelfit blush coming in at a respectable RM30 or less and my favourite high end blush will be the Chanel Joues Contraste blushes weighing in at a hefty RM140. If you’d like to read the blushes I’ve reviewed and will review from time to time, click on the blush category and have fun browsing 🙂

Your say: What beauty products can’t you get enough of? Which one’s your fave product?

Paris B

p/s “Beauty products” include skincare… if that’s your thang 😉

I am torn between blushes and eyeliners! Aah should be eyeliners as I would not be caught out without one 😉

It took me longer to master the eyeliner than it did to master not having clown cheeks. I wonder about that really 😉

Urm.. everything 😀 It used to be lipsticks, but after collecting 100+, all the ‘new’ shades look the same to me. The problem is I tend to go crazy about collecting something and then get bored lol. First it was MAC everything, then Dior everything, NARS everything and now Chanel everything, especially their eyeshadow palettes.

hahaaa!! But you know, you’re right. After a while all lipstick colours tend to look similar. I then get really picky about texture because if I am going to get a similar shade, it better have awesome texture! I’m at the Dior everything stage hehe… well not everything… 😉

LOL about being picky with lippy textures! What did you get from Dior? 😉 The purples in Dior eyeshadow quints look really similar, so I stopped collecting them. Now I am looking at Chanel blushes, thanks to you! It seems like I missed on a lot of pretty LE shades though. Grrrr

Dior quints are quite hit or miss. So I’m not into them. I love Dior lip anything – gloss, sticks, anything! Their blushes are also very pretty albeit a little light and sheer and that Diamond Shimmer powder thing is pretty too. The Nude foundation you already know so that’s a yay. Oh and their skincare. Strangely, it works on me. Ouch! Chanel blushes are beautiful. But they have gone down that LE route which sucks. Still, not to worry. It might come round again you know 😉

I bought the Nude foundation, used once and now it is on MUA swaplist 😀 If I did not know about NARS sheer glow foundation, I would have kept it though! Oh yes, I love Dior skincare! Do you use 60/80xp range? Buhihi I better stick with Chanel for awhile, just in case they might re-release those LE blush shades!

Eeks! I have heard so many good things about NARS sheer glow foundations. I’m sorta glad we don’t get NARS here for now haha… I have tried the 60/80xp range in the night cream. Heavenly! I’m also trying out some Capture Totale, which I think is really nice for my skin too. The Diorsnow range wasn’t quite for me though. Chanel will keep you busy enough with their permanent releases 😀

Shampoo & Conditioner from AVEDA except for the curly (I have dead straight hair) & men’s range. I’ve nearly gone through all their hair care range 🙂 Also just to let you know they’ve finally open an L’Occitane outlet in Melaka, located at Mahkota Parade, yeah! They’ve also opened an Y’ves Rocher outlet here too but I don’t know much about their range.

Hey, skincare is beauty products too! I did say “beauty products” not makeup 😉 Its just that I have a drawer full of blushes, but I’m more picky about hoarding skincare because of expiry dates. For skincare, I think my crack is serums. I love trying all sorts of treatment serums!

Blushes and foundations are my weaknesses.. My NARS blush collection is almost complete, just Desire, Mata Hari and Turkish Red left to go 😉 I cringe every time I look into my NARS powder and creme blush drawer just by thinking of how much I have spent on it but on the other hand, blushes makes me super happy!

I also love collecting foundations but a lot of them in my drawer is un-usable just cause I have been color matched wrongly so many times that out of like 20 or so foundations, only 7 work for me. Boohoo..

Oh congrats on nearly completing your Nars blush collection! 😀 I nearly went down that route a couple of years ago. Thank goodness I didn’t 😉 Desire is a really pretty shade. Mine shattered and died but it was pretty while it lasted. I’m sorry to hear your foundations don’t work for you 🙁 I absolutely hate it when I get colour matched wrongly at counters. Its so important to get the right colour for foundation and yet, its the one item we can easily get the wrong one of and then its unusable.

I tend to get confused in the morning too! Which is why 3 days out of 5 I end up wearing the same blush 😛 So what I do is to rotate the blushes on the top layer so they are more visible and that way I use them all, rather than just a few 😉

Right now I am using Inuovi’s Peach coloured blusher, which I bought at warehouse sales for RM 15 only… 😀

I Nuovi blushes are definitely good for the money whether at warehouse or at full price (although warehouse prices trump it!) Maybelline Angelfit blushes aren’t bad as I’ve noted. Depends on how “low priced” your threshold is really. Majolica Majorca blushes aren’t too bad too and if you can get NYX blushes, try them. In the main, I tend to buy blushes from mid price and up because I find the texture and formula better 🙂

I bought mine from ebay but you can get them from cherryculture.com I’ve never used them. The products are good for the price. I can’t say they are all awesome, but they aren’t bad for the price you pay, even shipping considered. I’m not sure if its still available in Singapore, but you can check at some Guardian stores (try Paragon shopping centre)

Looks like I would be the odd one out since the one thing I can’t get enough of would be moisturizer! Even though I know there’s a possibility that the product won’t work on my sensitive/eczema skin, I can’t stop myself from trying out just one more product that might work better than my existing arsenal… 😛

Ooh! Thats not very nice 🙁 Do you know what ingredient you are sensitive to? That would help you narrow down the brands/products you can use right?

      Reply

        December 14, 2010 at 2:51 pm

I wish there was a way for me to narrow down which ingredient it is as it would make my life a lot easier, but my guess would be Vitamin E.

At the moment I’m shunning any lip product boasting Vit E cos I had a bad experience with Body Shop’s Vit E lipbalm back in the day – cracking, bleeding, peeling, etc. Same goes for the cheap generic Chapstick.

Only brand lipbalm I can use is LipIce Fruity but can’t use the one that comes in a pot cos of the Vit E – funny, right?

Gloss-wise, I’m using Lancome Juicy Tubes, which I buy at warehouse sale prices.

Yikes! So many things have Vitamin E in them because of the benefits it delivers to the rest of us. You’d better not try the pure vitamin e oil treatment then though that might be the best way to figure out if it is Vitamin E and not something else 🙂 That said, glad you found brands/products that do work for you 😀
