Its a bird! Its a plane! No its Shiseido Bio-Performance Super Correcting Serum!

December 16, 2010 Paris B 6 Comments

A couple of months ago, Shiseido launched a new serum – the Bio-Performance Super Correcting Serum, that promised in just 1 day to “reveal timeless skin” and that “lines appear less visible and facial contours appear more lifted”. New serum + lofty claims = intrigued PB!

And then Shiseido got in touch and said “Go on, test it as tell us what you think” so I did and here I am.

review shiseido bio performance correcting serum

That 1 day claim? I’m sorry. Didn’t work for me. Perhaps it might be because I don’t have drastic visible lines to start with. I’ve been using loads of serums throughout the year and I’ve learnt that I’m quite blessed with good genes when it comes to saggy skin, so lines and sagginess have been kept in check. Whew! 😉

But you know what? I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I think its a pretty decent serum if you have a problem with sagging or lined skin. Just don’t take that 1 day claim as gospel – stick to it for say 3 weeks and you might like it.

I used it for about 2 weeks, realised it wasn’t showing anything dramatic on my skin (nothing bad either) and handed it over to my Mom. I didn’t see her for 3 weeks and when I did, I was pleasantly surprised.

She had been using this Shiseido serum with a random anti-aging moisturizer day and night and I did notice that her skin looked better from when I last saw her. Brighter and firmer. It wasn’t drastic – she didn’t quite notice it. But as I’d not seen her in a while, it was apparent to me. The deep wrinkles in her skin (put in by me probably) were still there though. At her age, you can’t erase lines like that except with this thing called “photoshop” 😛

The texture of the serum is rather thick with a silicone-y feel, which is quite surprising. I prefer light liquid-y serums. I only use 1 pump spread out between my palms and then applied to my face. Between me and my Mom, the serum is nearly gone… but we can’t tell! You see that fascinating bottle shaped like a time capsule? You can’t tell how much is left.

I love companies for coming up with gorgeous looking packaging, but inevitably these tend to hide the contents. So its got its pros and cons there. There is a scent which is either strong or soothing, depending on your taste. Its got a hint of rose to it.

I could tell you that it contains Super Bio-Yeast Extract and Safflower Extract and Rose Apple Lead Extract and that this serum helps activate fibroblasts and restore their ability to produce collage, elastic and hyaluronic acid which then makes your skin firmer and stronger … but it’d be Greek to me… and maybe to you 😉

Pros: Skin looked brighter after regular use, Very fine lines appeared smoothened but deeper lines remained

Cons: Can’t see how much product is left, Scent might be strong for some

If you have a problem with fine lines and wrinkles, I think its worth giving this one a try. If you don’t, you can wait till you do before trying it 😉 I say a good time to look at this might be when you’re 35 and up – so that means many of us are off the hook! 😉

LMAO @ your comments – ‘The deep wrinkles in her skin (put in by me probably)’. Lucky I have an older brother and he can take the blame for my mum’s wrinkles! Shiseido products feel too ‘mature’ for my skin and they do nothing for me. It might be a different story in a few years time though! Argh.

Oh lucky you to have an older bro to take the blame 😛 I do find Shiseido a little more suitable for older skin too. The White Lucent range is quite nice though. That one feels lighter.

and my skin is acting up again because altho the watsons moisturizer didnt break me out, it clogged my pores something awful, so i ditched it and now cant find a moisturizer for my face, which is a sahara. ARGH

Its not quite tacky, but a bit thick. Took a bit of getting used to. Did you try the Estee Lauder ANR? Try to get some samples of those. Helps with moisture too. Or try the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial moisturizer. You can get samples for those too 😉
