Last Christmas I indulged in the Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate body wash. It was “Christmas” for months for me! 😀 This year, my indulgence is the L’Occitane Rose des Neiges Shower Cream.
The Rose des Neiges is a limited edition offering for the holiday season and its really very nice if you like roses. What you get is a very lovely fresh rose scent. Not one of those awful powdery cloying rose fragrances.
At least, that’s what I get straight off the bat, when I pour the shower cream into my hands. Its a thick texture that does not lather up very much but I don’t mind that and I don’t have to use a lot. The scent however is a little more subtle after use.
I wanted to step out of the shower stall enveloped in the lovely light scent of roses. I wanted to climb into bed after a long work day, with the light crisp scent of fresh roses clinging to my skin to lull me to sleep.
What I do get is a whiff of roses now and again. Perhaps as I turn this way, or maybe when I snuggle down in my sheets to read my book before bed. Its very very subtle.
Its nice… or not, depending on how you like smelling after a shower. I would have liked the scent to hang around a bit longer and maybe stronger.
The shower cream has an iridescent quality to it which is very pretty but it doesn’t leave any shimmer on the skin, so don’t worry about that. It washes clean and it isn’t drying at all.
Its a very lovely shower cream if only the scent will last longer on my skin.
Pros: Lovely fresh rose scent, Not drying
Cons: Scent does not last very long on the skin
I suppose I could make the scent last by buying the complementing Rose des Neiges body cream. But I’m not quite into using body creams at all.
There is also a Rose 4 Reines des Neiges solid perfume I could look into, but all I really want is to step out of the shower feeling like I just walked through a rose garden, not smell like one all day.
L’Occitane had me right at the scent in the bottle. Now, if they’d only have this in a Rose des Neiges scented candle. I’d pick it up in a jiffy! 😀

eh? i thought tis is part of the permanent line? Or is this this the winter rose version? Cuz i asked if they have the solid perfume for winter rose, they said no 🙁
ParisB says
Hmm… ok now I’m confused -_- I thought this was the limited edition festive line. I THINK Neiges translates into Snow/Winter? Oh I checked it out online and it says Rose 4 Reines solid perfume. I got mistaken 😛

i have this ‘scent don’t last on my skin’ issue all the time! but i prefer if the scent can stay on me whole day. then i will be smelling like some rose garden!
ParisB says

I prefer Crabtree’s rose scented items. 🙂 Lasts much longer too..
ParisB says
Oh ya Crabtree does last longer. But they don’t have that fresh rose scent, more of the strong powdery type 🙁

Dang the doctor told me to stay away from anything scented…. Stupid eczema!
(PS: And yes, I did have a good time, thanks!)
ParisB says
Aww… That certainly is a bummer! And yay for having a good holiday! 🙂

The scent sounds lovely, but too bad it doesn’t last long…
ParisB says
You know, in a cooler climate I think it would be lovely 😀 Even if it doesn’t last very long

me LOVE roses!!! i’m gonna get the Chloe perfume for Christmas!! definitely going to check this out, i love the fresh rose scent too, but hate that yucky crabtree and evelyn like powdery grandma rose. btw if you want a lovely fresh rose scent in your room which is subtle but still lovely, but the “freshly cut rose” Yankee candle from parkson. super nice!!
ParisB says
Thanks for the tip! I’ll take a look at the candle… if I ever get down to Parkson. I’m avoiding the malls like the plague this festive period 😛

Hi ParisB, this is the first time I am reading your blog and I think it is a lovely blog 🙂 I bought the shower cream, soap and body cream when it was out last Dec, and I only managed to finish using the shower cream 😛 I hardly touched the body cream while the soap is still intact in its wrapper 😛 anyway, I am a huge fan of L’Occitane stuff, and I almost purchased the entire Plum Blossom range which was out in stores sometime in Feb, and in March, I almost bought the entire Cherry Blossom range again…. 😛 Anyways, it was really nice to discover your lovely blog today 🙂
