Your Say: So you like beauty products but…

November 30, 2010 Paris B 62 Comments

So you like beauty products. You like playing with colours. So do I! Yay 😀

I love my blushes and lipsticks and eye colours… but I have no love for nail polish.

  • Save

Yes ladies, I’m guilty of not enjoying nail polish. At. All.

Whilst I enjoy the pampering of a manicure and pedicure session, I find it suffocating on my nails to have that layer of lacquer on it. I have this irresistable urge to peel off the lacquer at every opportunity. Its a mental thing of course – nails are dead material. They can’t breathe.

I’ve tried to enjoy it … Heaven knows, I’ve tried! But I’ve finally decided that enough is enough. I can’t make myself love nor enjoy having painted nails 🙁

I do admire those who can carry off a painted nail, and who have lovely nails, and better yet, those who are artistic enough to do nail art. I take my hat off to you ladies! (I’m looking at you Xin and Nikki!)

As for myself, I’ll sit here with my naked nails and admire from afar. Perhaps I’ll buff my nails instead. That way I get the shine without the smell and the lacquer… that is if I bother 🙂

Saves me a heck more money anyway eh? 😉

Your say: Do you have one beauty product you just can’t get into?

I have virtually no understanding in hair products… ^.^ I just comb me hair in the morning and I’m done. Shampoo + Conditioner never get past the stuff you get in hypermarkets.

I don’t like nail polish either, or most hair products. I work with my hands and nail polish on my finger nails are just begging to be chipped, scratche, etc… ^^; Same thing with toenail polisth, and since I wear socks 3/4 of the year and no one will see my toes, I don’t bother.

Yeah I tend to use my hands for everything so I’m always chipping my polish too. I do enjoy seeing my toenails painted though. Its always very pretty. But after a recent pedicure my toe nails looked awful after I removed the paint so I decided to stop painting them.

I dislike doing/getting manicures but love pedicures. Mostly because I don’t see the point as I can never make them last, they always get dinged after a few hours. Not to mention how difficult it is (for me) to paint with my left hand on right .. am not the most coordinated person.

As for pedicures it is tons easier and I love seeing the flash of color. I do it mostly to prettify my ghastly feet 😀

I can’t get into facials like in a spa. Or exfoliating with a scrub – that’s just pure laziness.:)

ahh… I love facials! And I love going to the spa 😀 But you’re right about toe nails. I find it easier because no one will stoop that low to stare at our toes and hence mistakes are allowed! 😉

I cannot stand falsh eyelashes. Or even mascara. I have never purchased any of those products in my entire life.

I honestly do not see the point. Maybe if you’re an actress on stage and you want to highlight the eyes, but for everyday use or even for parties, false eyelashes are always awkward to me. I can always tell when someone is wearing falsies.

I might agree about false lashes because I’m crap at using them myself. But mascara can really open the eyes as I’ve learnt 🙂

Same like xin, I bring myself to love those double eye-lid stickers or the glue. Sure, I had it years ago, just to satisfy my curiosity but I just hate that feeling of something sticking onto the lid. And it was made worst when I went for the Estee’s Model search recently. One of their makeup artist said my eyes are small and droopy (in the rudest way ever, like I don’t deserve to alive or something), so he used both. And the feeling of being poked in the eye and the horrible feeling of the sticker just further cemented the resentment. No offense to those who wear em though!

I know! I’m happy the way I am so I was seriously upset. Made a complaint to my fave MUA and got an apology. But I hold a certain grudge against this rudie, so when I saw him at a recent KLCC event, I chose not to buy from him. Hahaha.

I’m like u Paris. I love my lip colours & now starting to get obsessed with eye colours & blushers as well. Just cant get into nail colour.. I’ve tried, but alas no. It all started with my job where I cant wear them. Then whenever I try, my nails will end up getting sick & dry. So I decided to dump the idea of painting my nails. I do enjoy manicure/pedicure/ nail-toe treatment once in a while. Dont think will ever indulge in nail polish though.

I love nail polish but I don’t necessarily need to have my nails painted. As long as they are nicely trimmed and neat looking, I am fine. I get manis once a month. I have a thing about not having unsightly cuticles. 😉

Mine is also false eyelashes! or thickyl applied mascara. i never apply more than one coat, i really dont like seeing ppl with either fake lashes/extensions/overly applied mascara, or even mascara that looks like mascara. lol.

but that soudns hypocritical, as i have long and thick eyelashes =.=

also i can never put eyeshadow. i love all the looks u create, but somehow i can never do it, so no eyeshadow for me. sigh.

You’re lucky to have nice long lashes! Us mortals need mascara LOL! 😉 I think eyeshadow is a matter of trial and error. Once you get the technique that works for you, you can use it everyday with any colour and have it work. Gotta try!

Me too! I really dislike doing my nails. Especially my finger nails because it just feels weird and looks weird and because I do eat some meals with my hands so that also makes it extremely unhygienic. It’s good though because I basically spend no money on nail polish.

Erm, I think we are the same Paris 😛 I can’t paint my nails either… I prefer it bare or most I’ll just use a glossy nail strengthener but still it’ll be gone at the end of the day! hahaha. I only wear some colours for dinners or when I go somewhere but it’ll still get wiped off at the end of the day! hahaha 😛 I can’t stand the smell of nail polishes but currently I’m loving Orly and China Glaze coz there’s no Formaldehyde, no DBP and no Tuolene. Which is great but still gets wiped off at the end of the day haha 😛

Omg I hate painting with my left hand too… I alwiz have to start with my right hand if not everything will get ruined. 🙁 I have not found THE remover yet but then I kinda like Skinfood’s Lavender nail remover coz the smell isn’t that strong after removing it which I like a lot. Other brands especially Sally Hansen stays on for like days! Even after washing hands so many times. Omg that is the worst!

I hardly use nail polish too.

I don’t use eyeliner. Don’t know how to do it nicely.
Don’t need to use eyebrow products because I have thick eyebrows growing in a nice shape of it’s own.

Hardly use hair products besides the shampoo and conditioner. No discipline to do more. 😛

I used to paint my nails all the time when I was younger. But nowadays, I just can’t do it anymore as nail polishes seem to make my nails and even fingers dry! It just feels so uncomfortable.. like the polish is sucking up all the moisture in my hands.. I don’t know why. So yeah… no more nail polishes for me.
