Save and Splurge : Silkygirl Lipgloss and Dior Addict Ultragloss

September 8, 2010 Paris B 11 Comments

I’m very particular about the lipglosses I use. My main criteria is that they must be shiny, not sticky and preferably unscented. I found 2 at 2 different ends of the price spectrum that fit this description.

dior addict ultragloss silkygirl lipgloss

Save: Silkygirl Moisture Max lipgloss RM15.90

At the “So Cheap!!” end of the price spectrum is Silkygirl with their new Moisture Max lipgloss. Colour is sheer, texture is a tad thick but its not sticky and its unscented and imparts a good shine. You could get worse in a lip gloss of this price 🙂 Read full review here.

Splurge: Dior Addict Ultragloss Flash RM88

At the other end of the price spectrum is Dior Addict – my all time favourite lip glosses. Beautiful colours, lovely shine and non sticky goodness. Oh and I like the packaging too. Flash is full of sparkles if you like that sort of thing. Read full review here.

Of course, if its within your budget, my recommendation is to get the Dior Addict Ultragloss. The colors look better, and they apply so much better and last longer too. But if budget is a constraint, get a good shine from Silkygirl at a fraction of the cost of Dior 🙂 These are not dupes, just wallet friendly alternatives.

Save and Splurge is where I show you 2 similar items by 2 different brands that I have tried. They may not work quite the same way, but it’ll offer you options for your wallet for a similar effect/product. Do note however, that it is based on products I have tried, so whilst there are many save and splurge options out there, these are my views. You can find more under the category of Challenges.

Silkygirl Moisture Max lipgloss retails at RM15.90 at major pharmacies. Dior Addict Ultragloss lipgloss retails at RM88 at all Dior counters.

Answer to question: Left – Silkygirl Right – Dior

Err… there is – packaging, application, pigment, texture and formula 😛 Silkygirl loses on every count but it satisfies the sparkliness on a budget 😉

I’ve used neither, but frankly speaking, I do prefer my Rimmel Vinyl Stars lipglosses over the Clinique ones.
