Lancome La Rose Deco French Coquette blush – Ooh la la!

September 27, 2010 Paris B 27 Comments

Remember when I first showed you the pretty pretty La Rose Deco blush from Lancome’s French Coquette collection for Fall 2010?

lancome la rose deco photo french coquette

I figured I better start telling you about it before it flies off the shelves and disappears for good because darlings, this one’s Limited Edition! Those two dratted words again.

As I told you before, the picture above is a little washed out but since I’ve dug into this one already, let me show you how it looks without that shimmer overlay.

Its just a very fine thin layer of shimmer on top, for decoration more than to use. Like art, a bit of highlight goes a long way towards making a good picture great!

There, a quick once over with a fluffy brush and all the shimmer’s gone. This photo shows it pretty much true to pan. Perfect! 😀 I much prefer it without the shimmer. It looks pretty on, but it would be hell to use if it was shimmery. Instead the blush is matte and a combination of 2 colours – peach and pink.

Aside: I don’t know why this blush has gotten no online love. Its gorgeous both to look at and to use and it absolutely deserves to be loved.

I find the blush a little pigmented so be careful. Just a light tap or swipe over the surface is all you need for perfectly blushing cheeks. Scary close up picture below.

lancome la rose deco blush swatch

Its very pretty on. Lancome says this is a multi-purpose powder. I say this is a blush and nothing but a blush. Well, unless you want to walk around red-faced for most of the day.

I like how the design is laid out. You can actually go more pink or more peach depending on which side of the blush you swipe. This way, you get something like 3 different blushes in one. Ooh la la! Mais oui!

Its a very pretty blush to look at, and a pretty blush to use. I’m loving it for that fresh faced look! 😀

Pros: Fine-milled powder, Matte texture, Lovely colour and pigment

Cons: Limited edition, Too pigmented to be used for all over powder as touted

Have you checked this one out already? To be perfectly honest, if you already have lots of peachy pink blushes, you don’t need this one. But if you like owning something limited edition (that actually works well), or want to get a nice high end blush that looks nice and applies well without making you look like a discoball, give this one a look. Its not that pricey! 😉

Since we’re at the “Limited Edited” topic (why is it so common nowadays?seems like everything is Ltd Edi) Please go try out the Chanel SOHO Highlighting Palette. The colours once swirled together looks fabulous. Very natural glow. I bought it about 2 weeks ago at Isetan’s counter. It wasn’t on display but I asked and they brought out the tester….and end of story, 1 pc came home with me. 🙂

Well most seasonal collections are limited edition 🙂 Its probably a way to make you “want” it while its available hehe 😉 I saw pics of the Chanel Soho online – it looks fabulous! Glad you manage to snag it 😀 I did think it might be a tad dark for me (I don’t pull of plum tones well) but we’ll see. I am still thinking of getting Pink Explosion Joues Contrast though 🙂

makeup.addict : Talk abt ‘psychotic makeup buyer’, I’ll hv to admit to being that too 🙂
Paris : The Chanel SOHO Highlighter/Blush is surprisingly not plummish at all, well, it gives a very nice glow/colour to the complexion. I can’t really say if it’s pink or plum, maybe because it is neither. You’ll have to try to ‘experience’ the colour. I have a feeling it will go OOS very very soon, if it hasn’t already. 🙂 I already have Pink Explosion (very pretty btw) and I am searching every Chanel counter for Rose Temptation, which happens to be the ONLY Ltd Edition in M’sia. Arghh…should have bought when it was still available.

it looks lovely, but I am not sure if I really want it that much. Haha. And yeah, it does seem like a blush ONLY and nothing else. LOL

Its actually more pink, but has no coral tones like Coralista so it doesn’t risk turning orange 🙂 I too have too much blushes. Doesnt stop me tempting myself haha! 😉

I only have one blush: MAC in Peaches, but I’m still scared as hell to try to venture to other blushes. I’m too dark for pink blushes, perhaps? IDK…

You’ll never know till you try! If you are more tanned, try a darker pink or a deeper shade. There’s a blush shade for everyone 😀

The blush looks absolutely gorgeous in the pan! But I have a feeling that it won’t show up on my tanned NC43 skin. Even if I do buy it, it will probably go down the same road as my MAC Marine Life Highlight Powder & MAC Golden Nectar Highlight Powder which is to be kept in my makeup drawer and be ogled every once in a while. I just love the gold over spray on them till I’m too scared to use ’em. Yes, I am that type of psychotic makeup buyer. 😀

LOL at “psychotic makeup buyer”! You know what you can do? Buy 2 – One to keep and one to use 😉 Best of both worlds 😀 And it might not show much on darker skintones.

The colours actually remind me of the limited edition blush from Dior this spring that was part of the dentelle collection – the one with the pretty lace overlay. One half of that was pink and the other peachy/pink.

hmm… I have the Pink Dentelle blush but its pink with white overlay, and wasn’t two toned 🙂 Or perhaps you meant the duo blush which I missed out on 🙂

Go check out the Jobots at Mid Valley Megamall Centre Court & experience their signature hand and arm massages, gift boxing, personalised engraving of your perfume bottles & candle jars & play with the vending machine. You could get lucky!
No prizes for guessing which Jobot installation was my favourite! The one with the dog of course! They also had a key chain with a dog. So. Bloody. Cute!!
And after so many years finally got a photo with event organizer extraordinaire @cyrus.chin because we didn’t get the white & beige memo and came instead in (unplanned) matching sunny coral instead 😂
It felt good to have makeup on, dress up and go out for a tiny little bit, and meet people I haven’t seen in literally years! Also to enjoy the scents (hard to smell with a mask on though) and the visual delights. Go check it out. They’re there at the Centre Court until Sunday 3 July.
