Have you ever asked someone what makeup item they used for their look?

A while ago, while I was at an event where I knew no one, I found myself staring quite rudely at a lady who had the most gorgeous blush on her cheeks. It make her look like she was blushing quite naturally without looking too bright or artificial.

I wanted so badly to find out what it was but she looked like a senior editor of some fashion magazine (albeit she looked friendly) and I felt intimidated because I’m a mere blogger after all.

But after about an hour, and when I could contain my curiousity no longer, I went up to this lady, said Hi and blurted out “May I know which blush you are using? It looks gorgeous!”

She was taken aback but I could see she was pleased. And she actually told me that she couldn’t quite remember because she had so many blushes on her dresser (ah! A lady after my own heart!) but she knew it was a Guerlain blush and that it was peach-coral toned. Oh and that it was discontinued.

Well no matter that its discontinued, lady. I knew where to look. And that’s how I found myself ordering Rose Plein Vent from StrawberryNET.com 🙂 It didn’t quite fit the bill – but its a pretty colour either way 😀

I will let you know what I think of it in time to come. But have you done this before? Have you complimented someone on their makeup or asked them what makeup item they used because it looked so good on them?

I’ve asked someone on what lipstick shade she was wearing! LOL Same with you, I just had to do something before I faint out of curiosity!

I get asked about my shoes haha. But I always interrogate friends who have nice make up on about exactly what they use and how 😛

Someone actually stared at my feet for a good 20 seconds before running after me to ask me about my Fitflops (the staring was a bit unnerving) along Orchard Road cos she was JUST on her way to buy a pair…lol!

Hmmm does asking a Makeup Artist included? I never really asked any strangers but most of them are my friends. I just love colours and they do complement them and I will ask without hesitating. 😀

I can’t remember asking about makeup but I have asked about clothes before.. e.g. where did they buy that shirt, dress, etc..

But I have asked a perfect stranger whether the Dermablend concealer, which the SA dabbed on my cheek, blended in or not! Hey, they called their brand “Dermablend” and boasted that it was the ultimate blend-in skin shade for anyone.

And no, it was not a match to my skin tone. Stranger was perfectly frank. This happened in London in broad daylight so I trusted her judgement and didn’t buy it. 😀 Good ah? Saved money $_$

ur right ur right!!! i more likely aks what skincare are you using, when their face looks awesome n glowing!!

cause i attribute good skin more to skincare than makeup!

I don’t think I have. I’m too shy to ask strangers and my friends barely wear any makeup at all. I have been asked though. Oh, but I ask about clothes and accessories.

you posed such a relevant question because i would ALWAYS want to go up to a woman to ask about her make up or skirt that she has on if i think it looked great on them! but have never done it because am too shy………… 😀

Hmm. I’m new to putting on makeup. Tend to be afraid that people would start looking at me weridly (thanks to my brother who ‘complimented’ on how bad my skills is) Even though I did watched a no. of howtos on Youtube.
But I did put on neutral shade eyeshadow to school once and turn out that quite a number of my classmates asked whether I have makeup on. I said yes but was very shy so I looked down and didn’t want to know more about how it looks like on me.
But I’m guessing that my friends might be thinking that I’m bad at my putting on makeup cuz there was no compliments but a mere ‘oh I see’ and ‘that’s nice of you, but you so free ah.’
T_T My first time with maekup on, and I got critisize…. Hmm. this really made me thought hard, my apparance might be better off if I dont have makeup on i.e. better off showing my acne marks to ppl LOL.
Great to know tt other girls do get compliments abt their looks. I’m hoping to be one someday haha!

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
