There are many things to like about the Silkygirl Moisture Max lipgloss. Its terribly affordable for one. I think I bought mine at RM12.88 or something equally ridiculous. I had to – Connie was raving so much about it I had to see what the hype was about 😛
But if I have a major gripe with the gloss, its with the packaging. Nevermind the elegant lucite tube and shiny cap – where’s the name? The only way to know that this gloss is by Silkygirl is to look at the base where the sticker tells you brand, and colour.
Its almost as if Silkygirl was feeling too embarrassed to put their name on this product. The thing is, SilkyGirl needn’t hide their name on this one – its a pretty decent deal… well considering the price anyway.
The gloss applies a little thick and you do get a noticable “I’m wearing lipgloss” feel on your lips. Thankfully, its not sticky nor is it fragranced so I forgive that.
The colour I bought was 06 Rose. It looks pinker in real life than the picture above shows you (more like that of the picture shown below). It however, applies very very sheer. This is true of all the 8 colours I tried swatching at the counter. I couldn’t tell the difference between Raspberry, Cranberry and Rose – all pinkish-red shades. As for the other lighter shades, they are pretty much interchangeable.
There is shimmer which adds a bit of shine to the lips – nothing dramatic. It looks pigmented in the tube but applies very very sheer on the lips.
At the risk of repeating myself – Nothing dramatic.
Oh and despite the name, I did find it a little drying on my lips and it does settle into lines if you aren’t careful. But since its so sheer, it doesn’t look half bad.
Good for a light wash of colour, for those on a budget, and for the time you forget your lipgloss and absolutely need to have something on your lips. You could do worse for RM12.88.
Pros: Very affordable, Sheer colour, No fragrance, Not sticky
Cons: Packaging is too minimalistic
Silkygirl is such a strange little brand. On the one hand, they have those absolutely horrendously packaged eyeshadows with cartoons on them, and on the other hand, they have this little gem.
Truly a puzzling little brand 😛 So, have you tried this one yet?

Silkygirl Moisture Max lipgloss comes in 8 shades and retails at RM15.90 at all Silkygirl counters, but wait for it to go on sale which is often
Hei babe, totally agree with you on the packaging. surprisingly, looking at one glance.. u couldn’t make out the brand except at the bottom part. as if it’s brand-less!
however, i’ve read great reviews on this lipgloss featured mostly in last month issues (local mags).
Its a pretty decent enough lipgloss but yeah, they really have to do something about the branding 😛
maybe they should have a long chat with Dior and agree to meet each other halfway, then Dior wouldnt put “CRYSTAL GLOSS” on their tube, and silky girl would put ” ” on theirs, and they might come out with just “Dior” and “Silky Girl”, and it would be fine.
Haha my thoughts exactly! Maybe something got mixed up in the factory somewhere … 😛
I do wonder how this compare to NYX MegaShine LipGlosses.
Any nice MLBB shades btw?
I haven’t tried the NYX ones I think. The more neutral shades apply pretty nude so any one will be MLBB – its mostly just shine
I wouldn’t have mind if the printed the brand name on the tube as long as it doesn’t include a tacky cartoon girl.
Yeah, I agree that the colors are really sheer. Fortunately for me, my awfully pale lips actually bring out enough color :p
