REN seems to shy away from the “anti-aging” tag most brands give to their serums. Instead they are calling theirs “Keep Young and Beautiful” which is a pretty name if rather lengthy.
This serum is new on the REN shelves but I’ve been trialing it for about a month now and my initial thoughts are that its certainly done something to firm the skin. I don’t have very saggy skin to start with, but I do notice that my skin feels firmer to the touch when I apply my skincare/makeup daily.
I can’t say much about the Keep Young factor which utilizes Sirtuin protein from rice just like another anti-aging moisturizer I’ve been using. 1 month isn’t a long enough time and most anti-aging products work to slow down aging anyway so its a long term thing. Oh and the SH2C formula? That’s the bio-actives for this serum – Sirtuin, Hexapeptide, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C.
Yes, very pretty, but how does it feel?!
This milky serum comes in a glass pump bottle and has a very strong scent. Yani was right – you must sniff it and see if you like it before you decide that you want it. The scent is that of roses and herbs and something else but it isn’t pure floral either – it does not bug me. Its just something worth mentioning.
I use just 1 pump for my whole face and upon contact with the skin, it gives the skin a very smooth soft velvety feel and isn’t oily at all. In the day, you almost feel as if you don’t need additional moisturizer. At night I use it with the Clinique Youth Surge moisturizer which is like wham! Double dose of Sirtuin!
One more thing I noticed is that after applying, and letting it absorb into your skin (quite quickly I might add) my skin feels a bit “taut”. Its not an uncomfortable feeling and I don’t know if anyone else feels that so if you are trying out this serum, do let me know if you get that same feeling. Perhaps its that “instant firming effect” you’re supposed to get.
Now does it give a more even skintone with brighter more radiant skin as claimed? I can attest to having skin that’s clearer overall. But I hesitate to attribute it to just this one product because I use all sorts everyday depending on my whim and fancy. Its only because I’m trialing this one that I was more dedicated with its use. So it might be helping but its part of the overall regime that’s working, I feel.
A 30ml bottle retails at RM328 at all REN Skincare counters (official link here). Its pricey – which serum isn’t? But I’d suggest you just use it at night. It stretches it further and I personally feel it works better while you are sleeping rather than in the day.
Pros: Not oily, Absorbs quickly, Leaves skin feeling moisturized, smooth and velvety
Cons: Strong scent some may not like, Expensive for some
Incidentally, I’m told that REN is suitable for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin, because their products do not contain a lot of stuff like mineral oils, petrochemicals, parabens, fragrances etc. I quite like this new serum, but I think I prefer the Omega 3 Overnight Lipid Renewal serum I purchased a while ago. I did a small review once but I can update you if anyone’s interested 🙂
Oh and for a bit of trivia, this is post #1,500 on MWS! Wow… I have THAT much to talk about huh?! 😛

Wow so ex man! Where is REN from? Yes please review Omega 3 Overnight Lipid Renewal serum (such a mouthful!)! Incidentally, I’ve been on the lookout for a good overnight anti-aging serum or moisturiser. Any recommendations? Is the Andrew Weil range from Origins any good? Would love to have your feedback. Thanks ahead! 😀

REN Skincare hails from the UK and I have not tried the Origins range so I have no thoughts on them. Depending on needs, I like the Dior One Essential serum, REN Omega 3, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery and for moisturizer, Clinique Youth Surge and Elemis Marine Collagen work for me. Reviews are available using the search bar.

Congrats on your 1,500 post. Looking forward to reading another 1,500 post.
Just wondering, for the skincare to be effective, should we stick to one brand/type only or like myself like to try multiple products all at once.
ParisB says
Thank you Mei Ping – I hope to stick around for another 1,500 😉 I don’t stick to 1 brand of skincare – not everything in the same brand will work for me. So I mix and match depending on my needs and what works. For best benefits of course, you should work with the same type of skincare e.g. if your concerns are whitening, then use a range of whitening skincare or if your concerns are anti-aging, then use a range of anti-aging skincare but it may not necessarily be from the same brand. Interestingly, this will be a subject of an upcoming post hehe…
