Happy Saturday Ladies
I have here a couple of new products coming out in July 2010 – looks like July is all about hydration if the new skincare launches are anything to go by 🙂
Estee Lauder Hydrationist Moisture System
A new skincare range in the Estee Lauder stables is the Hydrationist moisture system. This line is targeted at delivering moisture to dehydrated skin, one of the first signs of aging. It is designed to help strengthen the moisture barrier, thereby helping your skin retain moisture better and thus reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Personally, I’m terribly intrigued by this one!
There are 2 products for now – a Moisture Barrier Fortifier (serum) and Maximum Moisturizer (moisturizer).
Estee Lauder Hydrationist Moisture Barrier Fortifier – RM275
Estee Lauder Hydrationist Maximum Moisturizer – RM190
La Prairie Anti Aging Anti Wrinkle Eye Line Filler
With all the work our eyes do, and the thin skin around the eye area, its no wonder our eye area develops lines more quickly than anywhere else. La Prairie’s new eye cream claims to help plump up the lines around the eyes and to smoothen the skin around the eye area. Results are supposed to be instantaneous – with a three prong deliver system – plumping, rebuilding and hydrating. Worth a look if you have deep pockets.
La Prairie Anti-Aging Anti-Wrinkle Eye Line Filler – RM485/15ml
Biotherm Aquasource Skin Perfection and Eye Perfection
A new addition to the Biotherm Aquasource range is Skin Perfection, a moisturizer with a sorbet texture to make skin feel softer, more velvety and more luminous. Contains the signature thermal water and light micro diffusers. Sounds terribly fascinating. The Eye Perfection is supposed to help reduce dark circles and eye bags and has a tri-ball nozzle like the White D-Tox essence. The whole range is targeted at hydration.
Biotherm Aquasource Skin Perfection – RM165/50ml
Biotherm Aquasource Eye Perfection – RM150/15ml
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
I told you about this magical elixir when it first launched in the USA. Now, its here in Malaysia and boy are we in for a treat! This night serum promises to help your skin look better in the morning with just 2 drops and the lavender scent promises to help you relax which helps your skin in turn. Available now at Kiehl’s stores.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate elixir – RM200/30ml
Does any one of the above catch your eye? I have been using the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate for a little while now. I’ll be telling you about it soon. The Estee Lauder Hydrationist serum does pique my interest. I am into hydration as you can tell, because I do have dryish skin 🙂
This Saturday is all about catching up on sleep (damn World Cup! Glad Spain’s in the Finals though :P) and household chores. Sunday sees me sleeping on the couch (again!) so its easier to get up to watch the World Cup Finals at 2.30am. Goodness! I must be nuts! 😛
Oh and I’m also packing up the prize for the Kao Liese giveaway. The winner will be announced and contacted for their mailing address soon.
Hope your weekend goes well! 😀

PB! We are challenged down here to use the Kiehl’s Midngiht Recovery for 15 days and I’m testing this out too! 🙂 I’m glad you’re doing the same and I can’t wait to hear how much you like/dislike it! 🙂
ParisB says
Yay! I’ve been following your 15 day challenge – no challenge at my end but it’ll be fun to compare notes 🙂

hmm…the Estee Lauder one DOES catch my eye, but certainly not la Biotherm as it makes me break out like there’s no tomorrow. i used to love estee lauder as when i was in my teens, the skin regenerist (that time in a old skool green bottle) worked wonders for my skin. and didnt work wonders for my bank account. also ppl told me it was weird cause i was so young. but still!
i used it with shiseido’s white lucent and my skin looked amazing, but for some reason now both dont work for me. ah well. =(
as for kiehls, i neednt say more. =P
btw Paris, whats ur take on asian made skincare being better for asians?
ParisB says
I loved Idealist!! I think that’s the one you are referring to? I used up bottles of it but I think they changed the formula – its been a while since I checked them out. Funny you should ask me about the Asian skincare thing. Quite a few years ago, I thought it might be the case – I was on SKII and then on Kanebo (I also tried samples of Shiseido Lucent but did not actually use the line per se). Anyway, after lots of experimentation on myself, I’ve worked out that not all Asian skincare is good for me. I find the alcohol level higher in Asian products and for some reason, my skin liked them at first but not later. So, I loved Blanchir but after about 2 years, my skin didn’t like it anymore. Ditto with Impress. Started breaking out.
I do rather like the slightly heavier oilier feel of some Western brands – it might be because my skin is a little dry and I am exposed to air conditioning. I won’t write off using Asian brands but I’m just not currently using any – except for oil cleansers, and some cleansers/toner.

Yes! twas the idealist! so they DID change the formula or something, i really was wondering why it didnt work anymore..dont you just HATE it when they do that?
Yes i went thru the same thing, my friends use Kose and Sheseido and swear by it, but for me i treid the kose emulsion but broke out a lil bit. then my kanebo blanchir started breaking me out a lil bit too.
=(
so now i’m using Lancome cell defense serum, clinique moisture surge and dior sunscreen, and my skin is fine.
last week i tried using RMk skintuner moist after Connie’s review and my skin threw a fit! cystic acne and huge breakout which took from friday to thursday to recover! shieeeeeeT!
i got really pissed today because i read another blogger’s take on Elishacoy’s aqua whitening pudding cream (got taken in by the pudding word) made from ALL NATURAL ORGANIC ingredients…
then i checked it out in tropicana city today, and the girl told me absolutely no alcohol inside. it’s the alcohol in RMK skintuner that made me break out i think, i cant take alcohol.
so i bought the elishacoy for RM110, and i read the ingredients, it contains ALCOHOL DENAT. and CETEARYUL ALCOHOL.
CRAP! i dont know what to do! the fragrance is strong too! i’m just sitting here in front of the com contemplating.. =(
and wondering if the lancome celldefense and dior’s sunblock has alcohol since it works for me. sigh….sorry to unload on you, thanks for the advice on asian stuff!
ParisB says
As far as I know, most Western brands do have alcohol in their formulations. BUT I do find the Asian brands are more liberal with their use of alcohol so they do tend to use lighter formulas but which leave my skin dry. Perhaps the level of alcohol in the Lancome and Dior products aren’t too high or there are other ingredients in there that balance it out so you don’t break out. And it sucks that that SA told you it had no alcohol when it did! Can you take it back?

That Biotherm Eye Perfection thingy looks awfully interesting to me since I’ve been battling dark eye circles lately, but there’s just one fly in the ointment… my skin has never really loved Biotherm products. 🙁
ParisB says
If so better stay away! Biotherm and my skin aren’t very good friends either. I’m wondering if its that thermal water thing…
synical says
I got a mailer from Estee Lauder about Hydrationist – you could get a sample sachet from the counters, but you would need to go through a skin check consultation. I’m not sure if you could get it without a mailer, but I brought mine anyway.
ParisB says
I might just try my luck at the counter anyway – the serum is interesting 🙂

I have the sammple for the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate but I haven try it out yet but it smells good and relaxing. The Estee Lauder hydrationist
Jo says
Estee Lauder Hydrationist – wow would love to try the serum! I’m beginning to worry about fine lines and wrinkles! Wonder if it’s as good as it looks.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – does it help with aging? 😉
ParisB says
Its not quite “anti-aging” in the true sense but it does help you skin “recover” so it looks better. Keeping your skin hydrated is the 1st step to stop fine lines and wrinkles 🙂
Jarene says
Hi Paris B
Just bark in to wave my big fluffy beary hand and say Aloha! added with hershey kiss and smiles 🙂
Hey babe, you know what! I bought the Dior super serum you mentioned and it works pretty good, thanks.
The only problem i face is what moisturizer to use after that if the star product we are trying is serum?
you see..if the star product is Dior super serum and if we use a stronger moisturizer like anti aging, firming moisturizer thereafter, will it derail/reduce the effectiveness of the serum here?
or say in skincare usage, we can only allow one “hero” and the other has to be “meek” to let the hero shine? if we are using a strong dose of serum say dior super serum here for firming/reduce wrinkle, then the so called “moisturizer” that follow right after should be lesser cast like neutrogena oil free light moisturizer in that sense right?
thanks for your input here. i am really curious on this one 🙂
Love love love

Hi Jarene, if I were using a serum, I’d try to use a complementing moisturizer. So, if my concerns are whitening, I’d use a whitening serum and whitening moisturizer. If both play well together, I just go with it because you see better effects when using complementing products 🙂 Similarly with anti-aging products. If you use an anti-aging serum and anti-aging moisturizer, the effects are better. I don’t think a “strong” moisturizer will derail the effectiveness of the Dior Serum. I’ve used it with many different moisturizers and so long as I don’t break out, I’m happy with it. Glad you’re liking the Dior One Essential Serum. Its wonderful stuff yes? 🙂
