L’Oreal Aquadisiac Chrome Intensity Eyeshadow Quad – Blue Eyes, Blue Eyes

July 12, 2010 Paris B 21 Comments

The new L’Oreal Chrome Intensity quads are pretty! There are 4 colour families but my favourite of the lot is Aquadisiac. That’s not to say I’ve tried them all – I based it on pictures and the testers at the counter 🙂

L'Oreal Chrome Intensity Aquadisiac palette

Anyway, here’s the L’Oreal Chrome Intensity Aquadisiac palette which is a bluesy sort of palette. The eyeshadow feels a little hard to the touch. This is coming from someone who uses fingers to apply eyeshadow so touch is important to me.

Many have noted that the colours are beautiful, and pigmented. Personally, I did not think it so. I mean, yes they are beautiful and pigmented depending on what you use to apply them.

If you use the sponge tip applicator provided you will get nice strong colour. If you use your fingers, you can swipe hard to get the intensity you want. If you use a brush, you wouldn’t get the same sort of intensity, so you might then get disappointed. Even if you use a dense brush, the colour pick up isn’t very good and it can get dusty. So, I’d suggest that you apply these with the sponge applicators or fingers for more colour intensity.

I’m happy with the texture as is to be honest. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but I’m happy with it because it makes the palette very wearable. That bright turquoise looks too bright, but in fact, once you blend it in with the navy blue or black, it becomes wearable. You can also sheer it out so its not so intense on your eyes. I wore 2 looks with this palette, which I’ll show you below 🙂

Look 1 uses all 4 colours in the Aquadisiac palette. Its a dark smokey sort of look that’s great for night, or in the day if you are daring and can get away with it 😛

L'Oreal Aquadisiac Look 1

The lighting is all off in the top picture of the closed lid – the lower picture is more like what it looks in real life (but its more intense in real life) and the full face picture shows you that its not quite scary party only eyes.

  • Apply shimmery black close to lash line
  • Apply Navy Blue on outer lower part of the lid
  • Apply Turquoise on middle lid
  • Apply White on inner lid and on outer lid to highlight
  • Blend!

Look 2 uses just 3 colours and is much fresher, because I opted to not use the black at all.

L'Oreal Chrome Aquadisiac look 2

  • Apply Navy Blue to lashline and smudge upwards
  • Apply Turquoise all over lid
  • Apply White on inner corners and over the top of the lid to highlight
  • Blend!

Could I make the colours more intense? Yes. But I like showing you work friendly looks because that’s where I wear all my makeup to and this is to tell you that you don’t have to shy away from colour at the office 😛 I’ve also done just navy blue and white which is crazy pretty and subtle and really sultry 😛

As Aquadisiac is a bright eyeshadow palette with intense colours, its best to leave the emphasis on the eyes and tone down the rest of the face. I had Benefit Sugarbomb on in Look 1 and Scott Barnes Chic blush palette in Look 2 with Revlon Colourburst Blush lipstick on the lips in both.

I’ve used this palette for a myriad of eye colours because the colours blend well and complement each other very well, and I can make it as intense or as sheer as I like. I also like how the dark colours are really dark so they make very useful eyeliners too!

The other palette I might consider getting is the green one. Blue? Green? Just say yes please! 😛

Have you tested these palettes at the counter? Interested to? 🙂 And you know what? I can’t get that Mika song “Blue Eyes” out of my head 😛

Yes!!! I second! Get the Green one! The Green in the Timeless Green palette is gorgeous!

Just a suggestion….try Pink Mania and Magic Amber too if you get the chance. Though I know you are more into Greens and Blues.

Have a nice day and week ahead!

Its that Green that’s calling my name – although I’m not too keen on the brown. Still, will see 🙂 I know I’d never be able to work the pink palette nor the brown – too pink and too warm respectively but thanks for the suggestions! 🙂

Yes I feel that way – I did not quite like the Revlon 12 hour palettes 😛

it is a really versatile palette, sometimes i wonder how can those applicators actually pick up color better than brush or our own fingers

I think its because a sponge has a rougher surface so it picks up more colour. With fingers, you can pick up as much or as little colour as you like but brushes depend on the density of bristles so if a brush isn’t very dense or has longer bristles, you pick up less colour. I always use fingers so I’m more sensitive to this hehe

in look 1 are you wearing revlon’s color burst in the Mauve thing? you really look good..sigh..so pretty with eyeshadow! wish i could carry off so many colors like you!

anyway, i tried the aqua pudding thing from elishacoy…and PHEW! no breakouts. it’s supposed to be very moisturizing for night but wont break you out, and also whitening for melanin and pigmentation. cant report any difference yet, but it does moisturize and not breka me out, so PHEW! was THAT a momentous decision!

and you were totally right, dior lancome all had alcohol. but i really think asian skincare has more..zzz

Wearing Revlon Blush lipstick 🙂 I’m sure you can carry colours off – most people can. Its a matter of finding the right colours 🙂 And I’m glad you did not break out from the product! Else you’d have to go back and give the SA a shelling 😛

If its like the Diamond Glow ones, you’d be happy to know the colours are way more intense in these 😀

i really love this series of eyeshadows. All four no less. Ok, maybe i will skip Mania. This got to be the best so far i’ve seen of drugstore brands that sets my heart goes fluttering…

You’re right – these have been about the best I’ve seen from a drugstore brand in terms of pigment thus far. Pink Mania scares me though 😛

Am loving the gorgeous sapphire blue-ish colour! But it looks kinda dark when swatched though. And the turqoise colour looks awesome!

Cant wait for your review on the new MAC In the Groove collection! I’m having a headache trying to decide whether I should get one of the blush duos since I already bought 2 MSF (just did a very excited review on my blog haha) 😛

Yeah that blue is gorgeous but dark. Wish it wasn’t that dark so the sparkles will show up. It does work well just with white so I’m really happy with this palette 😀 I only got Petticoat – Might take a look at eyeshadows but will possibly pass on them 🙂

    green~!!

when i saw this at watsons i was a bit “shocked” because it looks so intense~!!
i am not sure whether i could pull it off. after looking at your post, the palette seems more “tamed” ^^.

does it last while you were wearing it? I have oily lids that even primer doesn’t really help.

Yes, the colours last on me. But do note that most eyeshadows last on my lids. I don’t have oily lids.

What a coincidence! I’ve just bought Timeless Green yesterday. When I first saw these palettes, I was so sure that I’d buy Aquadisiac but after swatching it at the counter, I changed my mind coz I simply cannot resist the beautiful green and it’s more wearable to work. Now, you have me considering the blue one again….Was this your question for your readers earlier? Ha ha!

I’m still thinking about Timeless Green because of that darned brown 😛 I just dont’ play well with browns. But I’ll be taking another look. Aquadisiac is pretty – get it on sale if you can 😉
