The Estee Lauder Model Search 2010 Finals was held in Suria KLCC early this week. I’m telling you about this one, primarily because these ladies are going to fulfill a dream of mine – they are going for a photoshoot Down Under and will climb Sydney Harbour Bridge.
When I was in Sydney, I wanted to do it but my fear of heights (and of falling into Darling Harbour) put paid to that ambition. Instead, I contented myself with sailing under the Harbour Bridge in the ferry. Multiple times since I was staying just by Darling Harbour 😀 I might do it the next time I’m down in Sydney – might as well fulfill an ambition since life is short! 😛 I mean I might find my legs freezing up, and I might turn green and faint if I get to the top but at least I can say I did it. Better plan that Sydney trip soon hehe…
I was actually rooting for #16 Lee Jen Pink although she did not win. She wore my favourite dress of the evening too – a short shimmering silver dress with a sash. Might have to go and see if Eclipse sells it 😛
These were the eventual winners of the Estee Lauder Model Search 2010.
Congratulations ladies, and may your stomachs be made of steel once you realize you have to climb over 139m to get to the top of Sydney Harbour Bridge 😛
I do have one thing to note during the Question and Answer session. All the finalists were gorgeous but when it came to answering questions in English, many of them could not rise to the occasion. Then again, this is a Model Search so perhaps pretty faces take priority. Credit where its due, the eventual winners spoke well enough.
So, look out for Jasmine and Natacha who will be the faces of Estee Lauder Malaysia in the ad campaigns in the coming year. Living a dream come true eh? 🙂

On the contrary, you cannot communicate with others using only a pretty face. English is a must for every industry, for me, and just because you’re using your face as the tool of your trade, it does not mean that you have to use less of your brain.
Sorry to sound mean, but I’m highly disillusioned with the modelling industry. ^.^ I hate the waifs coming out of the runways year after year.

Its true – no beauty without brains. But when a face model only needs beauty… I guess certain things could be overlooked 😛

i would love to go for this competition…i (sorry paiseh) have been told before i should try modelling, but unfortunately i look like ABSOLUT CRAP in photos. because of my fat face. so sigh.
ParisB says
Hai… probably only you think you have a fat face ler… If people tell you you can model, go for it! We are only young once 🙂

They are pretty & they are very lucky.
however, i agree that even though this is a modeling competition, having a good command of the English language is equally important as having a pretty face and a slim & slender body with long legs *sigh*. the organizers should emphasize on having a good command of the English language as these beautiful ladies are representing an international brand and they are going to have a photo shoot in an English speaking country no less. how on earth do we expect them to communicate with the people that they are going to work with?
on a different note, i remember the ads on tv where it featured Naz & Daphne saying “it’s not about the height” and “it’s not about being the perfect 10″ but from what i see, they are all tall & they are almost a perfect 10. how come we never see a 5′ 3″ or a 5’4” (or shorter) lady with a waistline of 28-30 (or bigger) winning the competition?
i bet we will never see the day.

Just wondering… Estee Lauder needs pretty faces… Must they also be skinny and tall and not so everyday ladies? Cos if u need pretty faces… i think u shud broaden up ur choice into finding more Everyday pretty faces… Those who speak gud lingua franca for today’s era and can represent everybody around the world… just a suggestion.. take it or leave it… From my point of view… That wud kindda make estee lauder look more real and approachable… 🙂
