Estee Lauder Dazzling Gold Fragrance – A Rediscovery

July 9, 2010 Paris B 21 Comments

Estee Lauder Dazzling Gold
  • Save

This is a rediscovery from many years ago. Fragrances last, but don’t store them too long or the smell may change a little. This is part of the reason why fragrances come in glass bottles. Glass keeps things like perfume oils better because there are no chemicals that can leech into the fragrance.

But coming back to Dazzling. Does anyone remember this perfume? There was Dazzling Silver and Dazzling Gold. Both smell markedly different and on me, Silver just didn’t cut it. Gold on the other hand was love at first sniff. (Note: If you are on Facebook or Twitter, I mentioned rediscovering Dazzling Silver. Well yeah not true coz I couldn’t remember which it was :P)

This is bottle #2 by the way. I finished up bottle #1 back in the day when I’d spritz on the fragrance lavishly everyday. Looks like even bottle #2 is nearly gone.

I’ve only just started getting back into the groove of using fragrance daily, and I picked out Dazzling Gold and fell back in love with it all over again.

I’m not good with describing scents, but on me, Dazzling Gold smells floral yet fresh, sharp yet mellow. Its strong yet light and does not overwhelm. Its a warm comfortable scent and and above all, it makes me happy 🙂

Now I’ve rediscovered Estee Lauder’s Dazzling Gold perfume, I’ll be sure to be using it for a while.

I’m one of those people who aren’t into celebrity perfumes nor new fangled fragrances. I prefer to stick to those from the bigger cosmetics houses or from perfumeries. But since I don’t have much of a nose for perfumes I won’t bore you with notes and scents that not even I can detect. I might share some of my favourites with you though 🙂

Do you remember Estee Lauder’s Dazzling Gold? Are you a Silver or a Gold? 🙂

Paris B

I bought my Estee Lauder Dazzling Gold perfume at RM160/30ml. Its been a while and prices are likely to have gone up by now. Check at your Estee Lauder counter for the latest prices.

Sadly, Pleasures isn’t for me – too floral? Still, it IS EL’s bestselling perfume 😀

My mum loves Spellbound from Estee Lauder but it’s discontinued. It’s one of the unique and long lasting fragrant, you can even smell it even after you wash your clothes

I don’t think I’ve ever tried a fragrance from Estee Lauder, maybe I should though. Dazzling Gold sounds like a wonderful scent.

I don’t use fragrance until a couple years ago. That finishing touch of dressing up with a spritz just boost my confidence somehow. 🙂

My first serious perfume (long time ago I use a couple of cheapies but didn’t persist to finish and then throw away after the smell change) was DKNY green apple.

My friend gave me a Marc Jacob Daisy which is nice…but somehow not me. 🙁

Still prefer the DKNY green apple. Smell so delicious, juicy and….I don’t know….a tantilizer (not sure of spelling) for the taste buds. hehe….

You’re absolutely right. Having perfume on really finishes the look – I never used DKNY Green Apple – I always thought it smelt too much of real apples 😀 But I’m glad you found a perfume that works for you – its quite hard when you think about it.

Haha…I love the smell because it smells like real apples. 🙂

Yeah, I think its not easy to find a fragrance for one. Especially me…my nose gets a little irritated (like a sneeze coming up but can’t release) sometimes by diff fragrance. Not sure why.

LOL I get that too! It really bugs me or I feel ill. Trust me, in the mornings, when you start feeling ill with no reason its worrying haha! Traced it to the perfume – I can’t remember which now…

funny though for me, i find that all my perfume smell so much sweeter (and better) on me after years of not using them. i especially love how EL’s dazzling silver and beyond paradise smell on me after not touching them for a couple of years. same goes for lancome’s tresor, CK’s contradiction and GA’s code. not sure if it’s because their base note is naturally sweet. even RL’s blue that doesn’t have staying power smells so much better after being kept for awhile in the cupboard 🙂

Oh I never noticed that to be honest. I’d just stopped using perfume for years and recently decided to. Perfumes are a horribly expensive addiction to have LOL!

I think it is horribly expensive if one is a happy-spritzer and loves to have a collection!

A 30ml bottle last me a year. 🙂 One little spritz behind each ear. The fragrance should be a hint, not an assult if anyone comes near. Could also be due to my DKNY apple bottle is not easy to spritz….hehehee….

Yup fragrances shouldn’t be announcing your arrival before you arrive 😉 I do like having different perfumes for different occasions. At least I used to.

i agree… it is an expensive addiction. however, i always got my fix when i had business trips to singapore every month when i was working in corporate. my colleague, who was a singaporean, showed me a mall where philippine maids like to hang out and they have small stores that sell unused tester stock (mostly without boxes). they are cheaper by say RM40-60 and i bought several every time i went to singapore. since i’ve been a WAHM 2 years back, i am still struggling to finish them all 😉

I LOVE perfumes and my collection is well, enough to feed a small starving nation. I love that I use the heavier scents for winter and the lighter ones for summer and some muskier ones for evening outs. perfume is so fascinating because it’s both an art as well as science! I am getting a lot of compliments from my Hermes Kelly Caleche which is leather-floral. For summers, I’m a huge fan of Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil.

Unfortunately, I’m quite a snob and hate it that whatever I’m wearing, I can sniff it on someone else :p that’s why it took me so long to settle on these 2 scents. I also love marc jacobs edc cucumber. Because it’s edc, I bathe in it in summers. 🙂

I’d never tried Hermes fragrances really. That would give me a great excuse to walk into the boutique no? 😉

    Hi Paris,

I’m glad you rediscovered Dazzling Gold; my body chem works better with Dazzling Silver though – my dad gave me a bottle back when I was still in college. It’s one of those “signature” type of scents, distinct and long lasting. Nothing that smells as if it came from Bath and Bodyworks or Victoria Secret hehe. I kind of miss the days when perfumes threw a punch, most of the perfumes released these days smell good but generic – nothing distinct. I’ve been hunting for a bottle of Dazzling Silver forever online because it’s no longer available in our country 🙂
