Do you crave certain food during that time of the month?

July 6, 2010 Paris B 37 Comments

Well do you? 😀

Needless to say, I do. In my case, I usually find myself craving Coke (Coca Cola not the drug 😛 ) which I do not drink regularly; and crisps or potato chips. Or in fact, anything crispy, fried, filled with carbohydrates and potentially artery clogging 😛

Fortunately, the cravings are only for a day or two and the way I deal with it is by giving in. Its not like I go on a binge or anything – I just have a cup of Coke, or a snack pack of crisps and it is usually enough to satisfy the craving.

I looked it up online (in case I was the odd one out) but it appears to be quite a normal thing.

Some people crave chocolate, others crave salty things and I crave fried foods. These cravings have been attributed to a hormonal imbalance pre-period and fluctuating blood sugar levels.

I just take it as an excuse to indulge a little 😉

So, do you get these odd cravings before your period? If so, what do you crave? 😛

I crave for chocolates mostly but there were times that I crave for things that I don’t eat on a daily basis like eggplant, guava. Hmm, I wonder is this a precursor to things to come when I’m preggers?? O_o

It varies pretty vastly for me – everything from chunky ABC soup (and I mean REALLY chunky!) to chocolate, fried foods to ice cream…you get the idea. I guess it depends on my mood at the time. 😀

Hmm, most of MWS readers crave for sweet stuff… I’m just opposite… I look for salty stuff like potato chips and find I need tasty food to whet my appetite then… and yes, I can totally identify with your craving for Coke! 😛

As long as it’s junk food and artery-clogging, it’s my friend! 🙂 It could be squares of dark chocolate or mcd fries-damn you for being so conveniently found everywhere! And my latest crave is sit in bed with the electric blanket and my winter doona and eat icecream straight from the tub. It’s AWESOME!!! Oh, I make sure my hot water bottle and winter socks are close by too 😛
