You gotta try the Dior Crystal Gloss for a glossy pout!

June 28, 2010 Paris B 30 Comments

The Dior Crystal Gloss is a new Limited Edition offering by Dior for Summer 2010 – Addicted to Dior. Its an interesting little thing and although it sounds a tad gimmicky, its fast become my favourite lip gloss!

Dior Addicted to Dior Crystal Lip Gloss

But first, a note about the packaging. I love how its like the Dior Addict lipglosses that I adore but I was not happy with the emblazoning of the word “Crystal Gloss” in bright shiny letters across the side of the tube. It screams “TACKY!!” to me.

Once I get past that, I must say that I love the texture of this gloss. It looks like liquid jelly and feels like liquid jelly. If you have ever made jelly, image the texture just before it sets – its slippery and slick and not sticky. The Dior Crystal Gloss feels just like that.

It comes in only 1 shade – one colour that adapts to your lip and skin so it might look different on you as it does on me. I’ll show you how it looks on my lips below.

The Dior Crystal Gloss slicks on sheer with its brush tip applicator. I love brush tip applicators!! Once you apply it, wait a few minutes and the colour will develop on your lips.

On mine, its a very light tint of rosiness. My perfect lip colour! Also, it takes on a high gloss that isn’t like that of wearing lipgloss. Its like you took jelly and smeared it on your lips – its got a very watery look to it. Something that Japanese brands tend to go for.

If you want slightly more intensity, apply a couple more coats. The colour gets more intense the more coats you apply.

With eating and drinking the gloss will slide off and lose its glossiness, but a hint of colour remains on the lips. You could just top up with lipbalm or apply more Crystal Gloss and get a higher intensity of colour.

I won’t know how it’ll look on your lips to be perfectly honest. Its one of those things 😛

Pros: Light non sticky texture, Sheer glossy watery look, Develops into a nice colour for my lips

Cons: Limited Edition, Expensive for the masses

This item isn’t probably for everyone, especially if you like sticky lipglosses. If you aren’t into sticky goopy lipglosses like me, you might like this. In fact, I use this so often, its fast diminishing and I’m wondering if I should get a back up – probably the first time ever I’m considering this!

Oh and I’m in love with how pouty it makes me lips look! 😀

mwah! 😀

Same!! I hate glosses that are sticky so I am terribly picky about my lipglosses. Thus far, Dior lipglosses have worked for me but I love the texture of this one better – it would be nice if they made it permanent 😀

The bottle is pretty but the lettering is definitely tacky. That’s a really great color on you! I only wear gloss on top of lipstick though because I feel it’s too runny for me to pull off. Am surprised at the price of Dior glosses are though .. hmm .. maybe should give it a whirl.

I hope it was a nice surprise? LOL… Most department store lip glosses are about the same price 🙂 I don’t usually even wear glosses and when I do, I usually go for something more pigmented

    Bonjour Paris!
I actually bought this a few weeks ago…the only thing I bought from the Chanel Summer 2010 collection.
I was looking for a gloss which doesn’t have any shimmer and not sticky (Chanel has discontinued my favourite bubble aqualumiere gloss in bubble plum 🙁
I love this gloss. From the description the gloss said it would give a hint of fuchsia but on my lips it appears more pinky.
🙂 glad you are liking it as well x

Hi Lee! Did you mean Dior Summer 2010? 😉 I’m so glad it didn’t turn fuchsia on me and pink sounds pretty – doncha love how glossy it looks yet feels like nothing on?

Sorry! Guess I was still half awake for the typo!
Yes Dior indeed…didn’t mind too much about the huge silver “crystal gloss” printed on the tube though, it is always gonna be in the makeup pouch lol

It feels like…I am putting on some lip balm but more luxurious! And no shimmer! Your pouts look so kissable *chuckle*

ooh, that looks mighty shiny. And no shimmers! neat! But you’re right about the packaging. Doesn’t look quite as posh as dior’s supposed to be.

    Hi Paris,
    Very nice indeed!!

I actually bought the Dior lip maximizer instead. It’s recommended by the SA as she said I had very bad peeling lips.
It don’t really “max” out the lips as indicated but it has cooling sensation and hide my peeling lips pretty well !

Ooh I’m glad the lip maximizer works for you! Maybe by helping with peeling lips, it makes your lips look smoother and poutier and thereby maximized? (grasping at straws here hehe…)
