Guest Review: Biotherm White D-Tox Bright Cell Serum and Moisturizer

June 16, 2010 Paris B 1 Comment

When I was looking for a guest reviewer for whitening/brightening products, I knew who to turn to – Jenn of Lipglosseater is a fan of whitening skincare too! This is her review of 2 of the Biotherm White D-Tox Bright Cell products.

Most people who knew me will probably know that I’m totally devoted to the Lancome Neurowhite whitening range. So when Paris contacted me to test these two products out, I thought it’d be nice to break out of my usual whitening skin care regime and give them a whirl and see if I like them or not! 😀

Biotherm White D-Tox [Bright-Cell] Intense Brightening Hydra-Plumping Cream – Day and Night – RM170 for 50ml / 1.69 Fl. Oz.

Description on the box:

The “intense brightening hydra-plumping day and night cream”, with a fresh, meltin texture, contains hydrating ceramides and whitening agents. From the first applications (lol, hurrah for print errors! XD), the face is beautifully radiant. Day after day, skin appears intensely brightened.

This cream has just the right “creamy” consistency for me – not too heavy / greasy and spreads easily. It absorbs into the skin quickly too! I personally find this too heavy to use in the day though it’s marketed as a day and night cream. This has a lovely fresh scent that I like! 🙂

This cream comes in a heavy glass jar with a screw off lid. I personally have a love-hate relationship with products that come in jars because on one hand, you can scoop out every morsel left of cream from a jar, but on the other hand, its not really that hygienic to expose the cream to air so often! Nevertheless, this product travels well, if you don’t mind the extra weight!

After testing this product out for about three weeks now, I find that this made my skin really plump and soft! Since I’ve been using a whitening range prior to using this one, I can’t tell if it whitens well or not, but it does work wonderfully to maintain the previous radiance and even-tonedness (is there such a word? Lol!) I got from the previous product.

All in all I think that this is a wonderful product to add to one’s whitening regime! I personally can’t think of anything I dislike about this product! It does contain mineral oil though, so those of you who’re iffy about this particular ingredient might want to stay away. I’ll definitely repurchase when I run out! 🙂

Biotherm White D-Tox [Bright-Cell] Ultra-Whitening Serum – RM215 for 30ml / 1.01 Fl. Oz.

Description on the box:

The “ultra-whitening serum” contains a high concentration of the [BRIGHT-CELL] complex and is enriched with whitening agents, acting in different stages of melanogenesis, for duo-stage whitening efficacy:

From the 1st applications (lol!), skin is visibly more even, and radiant, with increased translucence. Dead surface cells, loaded with melanin, are gradually exfoliated. Skin’s natural radiance is revealed.

Application after application, dark spots are faded. Skin is clearer and pure with radiance, in all lights.

This serum feels a little thicker than the usual ones, but it absorbs into the skin quickly. This smells somewhat the like cream but not quite – its smells quite weird actually! Thankfully the smell dissipates quickly so it’s not an issue for me.

This serum comes in a glass bottle with a pump. I like how the pump is detachable so you can reuse the bottle when you’re done with this. I would prefer a clear bottle instead of an opaque one though so that you can see how much product you have left.

Unfortunately after using this product for 3 weeks, I find that this doesn’t really work to lighten my freckles, which I’m really disappointed at. I’ve been spot correctorless for about 3 weeks (with a sunny vacation in Bangkok) before starting on this product, so there should be at least some improvement in this aspect, but nope, nothing happened! 🙁

Please excuse the shiny skin in the before picture. This is why you shouldn’t slap on a high SPF sunscreen when you want to take pictures! Lol! 😛

Not all hope is gone though! This product works wonderfully to lighten fresh acne / wound scars! I can see an improvement on them in less than a week, so it’s great in this aspect!

To sum it all up, this product is effective when it comes to lightening acne marks, but it doesn’t really work on freckles (for me anyways). I won’t be repurchasing because of this!

Other than whitening products, the lovely Jenn loves MAC Cosmetics and provides good swatches of MAC collections at LipGlossEater – not that I believe she actually eats lipglosses… 😉
