If you have been following my blog for a while, you’d notice most new posts go up in the morning. Well, excuse my tardiness today because it’s been one hectic work week and I spent the past 2 nights working very late and enjoying myself (not quite enjoying myself at Stadium Putra watching our Thomas Cup hopes fade to nothing) but you get the general idea 🙂 So with only 4 hours of sleep the night before, I slept in and prepped no posts for today.
Truth be told also, I had no material for today. Saturdays is always this grab bag I put together but I found nothing to talk about. Fortunately, material comes in in the form of a chance to win a designer dress from local wedding couture specialist Carven Ong and local young designers PU3 courtesy of Johnson’s.
These are dresses and outfits designed by these 2 designers for Johnson’s Tribute to Softness fashion show with the launch of the new Johnson’s Body Care Lotion for Women. But we’ll talk about that later.
There are 32 dresses (16 from each designer) up for grabs and I present you photos of a selection of dresses and outfits so you can pick out your fave.
Pu3 are a pair of twin sisters who won the MIFA Emerging Young Talent award of 2009. They are young and their designs reflect their youth – light flirty dresses dominate and I prefered their short dresses over their long creations. It looks more wearable.
I wasn’t quite thrilled with the jacket, top and shorts ensemble worn by Deborah Henry though – its sweet but I prefer to keep my short shorts at home 😛 I would however wear the top and jacket with slacks and I think it’d look awesome with skinny jeans, heels and a nice top handle bag 😀
Carven Ong’s designs were more complex but still keeping to his floaty chiffon dress style favoured by brides for their evening dress. He is a wedding couturer after all!
My favourite dress of the night is the pink dress by Carven Ong worn by Deborah Henry. I loved how the lace bodice flares out into a gorgeous light chiffon full skirt that billowed about her as she walked. The effect in the picture is of the skirt swinging around – gorgeous! If I were skinny and tall, that’s the dress I’d pick!
Actually, what you’d really win are not these dresses per se but a dress designed by Carven Ong and Pu3 based on these designs probably. I can’t see many regular folks like me fitting into the dresses cut to fit the bodies of celebrities who actually work out to stay fit and thin and who are tall! I might actually look a bit swamped in that pink dress come to think of it. I might even be able to make a new dress out of the material they’d have to cut off from the bottom of the skirt 😛
But its so pretty that some day if the occasion calls for it, I will get something like that. Its pretty and a classic!
Your choice?

So was my size… It was a gonner for those popular sizes. I went to Parkson Subang Parade and couldn’t find FitFlops! They don’t even know what I’m talking about but then the website had stated Parkson Subang Parade and Parkson Pavillion. Maybe it isn’t there yet? What a disappointment. Sadness 🙁
