Shiver me Timbers! YSL Rouge Volupte #17 Orange Shiver

April 8, 2010 Paris B 15 Comments

Recently, StrawberryNET.com had YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks going for US$17 again so I plunged in to pick up 2 bits of goodies. One of it was Rouge Volupte #17 Orange Shiver. I was taken in by the name and also because I wanted to see if I could pull off an orange lipstick. After all, orange is the new red for Spring-Summer 2010 (or so they say).

YSL Rouge Volupte No. 17 Orange Shiver Lipstick

When I got it, I was surprised to note that it was not orange in the tube at all. Its more of a light coral orange-pink. I wasn’t disappointed, just surprised.

Like all Rouge Volupte lipsticks, it goes on smooth, creamy and super duper pigmented. Love! See how it looks on my lips below.

On my lips, the colour is more orange than in the tube.

The colour is bright so I kept the rest of the face neutral and warm toned.

Face: Shu Uemura Face Architect powder foundation, Guerlain Meteorites Illuminating Pressed Powder Mythic Parfait

Cheeks: Benefit Sugarbomb

Eyes: Stila Baked Trio eyeshadow in Bronze Glow

I thought I’d never be able to pull off orange in a lipstick, especially in a shade this warm, but I’m pleased to note that I can. At least I think I can 😛

I usually wear Orange Shiver with a light peach blush, and neutral eyes with black liner and mascara. Let the lips lead for once 🙂

I love Rouge Volupte lipsticks. Its too bad YSL is no longer in Malaysia for now. I’d love to pick up some I can wear on a daily basis. I guess I’ll stick with stalking StrawberryNET.com for deals for now 🙂

Thank you Jenn! As for the Meteorites – wait for the Summer collection in May/June. Its packging is prettier. I’m waiting for it myself 😀

From my experience, the answer is yes and yes. I will share my thoughts on this soon.
