Quick Look: You CAN wear green eyeshadow to work

April 22, 2010 Paris B 21 Comments

Smashbox Hot Date eyeshadow

I did a quick look below which I call a “going to the office with green eyeshadow” look. I tend to go a little sheer with my daily makeup because I’ve gone past the stage where I pile on the colours and scare people at the office 😉 Now I go for a lighter, hopefully more mature more dependable look to inspire confidence *ahem* 😛

Most colour products I’ve used are from the Smashbox Heartbreaker collection so you know what it looks like on. The green eyeshadow in question is from the Hot Date eyeshadow palette mixed with the more neutral shades of the palette.

For the eyes, here’s what I did (I used a brush so the colours apply sheerer):-

  • Brown (Colour #2 from left) close to lash line
  • Green/Teal (colour #4 from left) mixed with Light Green (Colour #5 from left) on outer half of the lid
  • Peach (Colour #3 from left) on inner corner of lid
  • Cream (Colour #1 from left) on brow bone

  • Face: Lancome BB Base and Guerlain Nacres des Mers Illuminating Pressed Powder
  • Eyes: Smashbox Hot Date eyeshadow palette, Liquid Liner, Dior Extase mascara
  • Cheeks: Smashbox O Glow and Baked Starlight Fusion Softlights
  • Lips: Dior Serum de Rouge Peach Serum

You don’t have to use the same products, so long as you have similar shades in your collection. If you keep the eye colours light, you’ll pull this off in most work places – unless they are VERY conservative. Then sorry. I’m no help 😛

Oh and I didn’t mean to showcase a green look today on Earth Day! But since its done, hey! I’m corny that way 😉 I also wear blue eyeshadow to work a lot. Wanna see how that looks?

My team mates and i wore green to work today too… just for the fun of it! haha!! 😀

Anyways i thought you look really fresh with this look! 😀 I personally love wearing greens and blues to the office (or to just about anywhere! i love colors! haha!! 😀 ), and i find that most of my colleagues can accept green eyeshadow but not blue! Wonder why’s that so!

I think its just that blue is such a striking colour while green suits our Asian skintone very well actually. More conservative companies do dictate that their staff wear “neutral” colours only whatever that means hehe

Generally, most serious corporate offices do not encourage bright makeup at work. “Corporate image” has to do with it I think. In other more relaxed jobs, its not unusual. I’m so not a neutral coloured person so I’m glad I get away with colours most days 😀

You look great! First thing I thought was “Haha! I need to go kacau Paris!” :p Love the happy smiley FOTD pic! Blue/green eyeshadows are awesome! I think as long as you wear the color appropriately (balanced out with neutrals), nobody’s gonna care that you’re wearing a non-conventional color. Some people who don’t pull off browns well can actually look more washed out than not wearing any eyeshadow at all

Thanks Connie! Now to be able to take pics that actually show colour properly 😛 The problem is that there are some offices run by very staid people who frown on any attempt at colour. I’ve met such people and as you say, browns can wash many people out – myself included – so I’m really lucky I haven’t had to work in a straitjacket environment!

Oh, i wear whatever shades to the office… green, bright purple, dark chocolate, electric blue & even red..or sometimes no shades just black mascara & eyeliner but with deep shades of lipgloss. luv to play with my eyes, it’s more meaningful to me than the lip….and I’m not in my twenties but who cares, think young will make you young! It works

P/S : As long don’t go overboard or looks like a clown, hahaha…

I love green eyeshadows! You look so pretty and fresh! I think you can get away with wearing most colors at work as long as you keep them soft.

I’d love to see the blue look too. 🙂

I think you can pull off just about any shade as long as its a bit sheer. I like mixing them a bit like green with a hint of yellow vice versa..
