What will you miss from Shu Uemura?

April 2, 2010 Paris B 37 Comments

One of the biggest news to hit the beauty industry this week was the news that Shu Uemura is pulling out of the USA. Shu Uemura fans in the USA can still purchase Shu Uemura products online but all the counters and stores will be closed. The reason was due to low sales and the fact that 80% of Shu Uemura’s sales appear to come from Asia.

I guess that means that we in Malaysia are safe 🙂 But it got me wondering what I’d miss if Shu Uemura were to pull out of Malaysia *touch wood* There are 3 things on my list.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

Right at the top of the list would be the Shu Uemura eyelash curler. It works well for me and I will stick to this one simply because it does the job. It grabs most of my lashes, gives them a graduated curl and does not pinch the skin of my lids. Retail price RM60. Worth every penny.

The Answer is Biotherm White D-Tox TriAction 2 in 1 Roll On Concentrate

April 1, 2010 Paris B 8 Comments

Yesterday, I asked if you knew what this thing was.

Take a Guess - go on!

Two of you hit the nail right on the head and some of you were in the ballpark. The rest were so far off the mark it was hilarious! 😛 Now let me pull back a little and show you more of the product.

Yes this is the applicator head of the new Biotherm White D-Tox TriAction Roll On 2 in 1 concentrate which is a spot corrector that is anti marks and anti dark spots. The metallic balls help you “roll on” the spot corrector essence on specific spots so you get targeted action. It performs very much like those eye roll on gadgets we have in the market.

Gadgetry aside, wanna know what I think of it?

East Meets West: Lancome’s new BB Base

April 1, 2010 Paris B 16 Comments

When Korean BB Creams started taking the world by storm, I knew it was a matter of time before Western brands got in on the act. Well lookee here! Lancome is one of the first Western (high end department store) brands I know to have a BB Cream! Except they call it a BB Base. As reader Ivo pointed out Maybelline has a BB Base too.

The full name to give it its due is the Lancome UV Expert GN-Shield High Potency Active Protection BB Base SPF50 PA+++ High UVA PPD. Whew! Interested to try it? There’s a preview going on – details below.

April Fooled by Dior Serum de Rouge Peach Serum #650

April 1, 2010 Paris B 19 Comments

When I first laid eyes on Peach Serum #650 – the new colour in the Dior Serum de Rouge range of lipsticks, I was a little puzzled. You would be too once you see the colour in the picture – as close to the real thing as I could manage to get it.

I found myself wondering if someone had somehow played an April Fool’s joke on me by labeling this colour “Peach Serum” so I did a quick online check. Yes indeed. #650 is called Peach Serum, one of the new colours available in the Dior Serum de Rouge line of lip treatment lipsticks.

If you are wondering how “peach” Peach Serum is, my answer is “Not at all peach!” Peach Serum, despite its name is a very soft pink which I was initially scared of which was silly of me because its so gorgeous once I slicked it on!
