When Korean BB Creams started taking the world by storm, I knew it was a matter of time before Western brands got in on the act. Well lookee here! Lancome is one of the first Western (high end department store) brands I know to have a BB Cream! Except they call it a BB Base. As reader Ivo pointed out Maybelline has a BB Base too.
The full name to give it its due is the Lancome UV Expert GN-Shield High Potency Active Protection BB Base SPF50 PA+++ High UVA PPD. Whew! Interested to try it? There’s a preview going on – details below.
I’m still test driving this one so a full review will come later. But I can tell you that whilst its not quite sufficient to act as full cover foundation, its a perfectly good sunblock with light tint. I’ll have more pictures for you in time to come.
If you’d like to try this yourselves (and be one of 3 lucky people to win it!) head down to MidValley Megamall for the roadshow and contest. Details are as follows:-
Venue: MidValley Megamall South Court
Date: April 2-4, 2010
Time: 10.30am-9.30pm
The good thing about heading on down to MidValley Megamall is that its a preview of this new product and the new Blanc Expert Mineral Loose Powder with White Sapphire Complex because apparently the products only goes on shelves in May 2010. So you get to be one of the first few to try it!
Nope I’m not going to jump out at you and yell “April Fool!” 😛
If you do win, please come and share your thoughts on this cream with us! We are all ears! 😀

interesting! And hopefully when the Western brands catch up, they’ll have BB creams in darker shades *fingers crossed*
ParisB says
That would be something to hope for. Unfortunately I don’t think this Lancome one will suit you – its only 1 shade
Connie says
*sighs* How discriminating 🙁 I’ve always liked BB cream but can almost never get the color to work! Even if I do get a match, ashiness is a problem
ParisB says
That’s so true! I’ll let you try and see if you like this one – remind me!
Jean says
Gonna try it!!!
ParisB says
Hope you’ll like it!

I thought Maybelline was the first Western brand that copycat the BB cream phenomenon. They came up with name of bb base too. Two Japanese mags even had promoted the product.
ParisB says
Oh yes the Maybelline Angelfit one I’d forgotten that. Thanks for the reminder! Perhaps I should say the first Western department store high end brand then 😉 This one isn’t quite a moisturizer-sunscreen-foundation. I’d rather call it just a tinted moisturizer to be perfectly honest 🙂
Aretha Wan says
Ahhhh im so glad they decided to bring that loose powder in! =) I’ve been wanting to try it. Do you happen to know where is the BB base made at? Is it made in France or Japan? Is it similar in texture to their current tinted Neuroshield sunblock?
ParisB says
The BB Base is Made in France but is full of Japanese words on it 🙂 I haven’t tried the tinted Neuroshield sunblock but I’d say it has a similar texture to the sunblock hence I feel its more of a tinted sunblock and perhaps a makeup base as opposed to a Korean style BB Cream/Base which is foundation, moisturizer and sunscreen in one.

This sounds interesting! I wonder how much it’ll cost though.

Hey ParisB, dun you find this bit shiny upon application? I’m trying to find ways and means to get this work. Even topping with foundation and loose powder, the shine comes back again in another hour. It’s not oily but shiny. Post your review soon, and if there’s any remedy to it…or is it just me?
ParisB says
Actually no I don’t find it shiny – but I have combination-dry skin. I’ll share my detailed thoughts later. But do bear in mind that different products can affect people differently and if you found their sunscreen making you oily, this might too
shiyau says
does it have a good coverage ?
