Lancome used to have an older “aunty” image for me when I first started getting into makeup and skincare. It was a place where someone like my Mom would shop at, not me – because I was young and hip and all that jazz! Tra la la!
But somewhere in the past 10 years, I’ve noticed a shift in Lancome’s focus and image. Now, they seem to have taken on a younger image and look a little less “aunty”. Or it might be that I’ve grown up and so has my tastes 🙂 You gotta admit though that the last Declaring Indigo collection and most recent O My Rose collection with Pop n Petrol eyeshadow palette are edgier than the old school Lancome collections.
Either way, Lancome celebrates their 75th anniversary this year and I’ll tell you of 8 Lancome products I’ve loved over the years – some of which I still keep firmly entrenched in my product cabinet.
Lancome Primordiale Nuit night cream
One of the first Lancome skincare products I used on recommendation of my childhood friend who told me that her boyfriend (now husband) swears keeps her looking young 🙂 Curious, I purchased a tub and though I stray now and again, I come back to Lancome Primordiale Nuit. I believe its got a new packaging and a new name now but I haven’t bought the new version yet so I’m not sure if its the same texture. I sure do hope so because mine is all but gone! Read my earlier review on Lancome Primordiale Nuit here.
Lancome Flextencils Mascara
My first high end mascara and one I repurchased twice before finding out to my dismay that it was discontinued! Till today, despite the new fangled Oscillation mascara, my heart remains firmly with Flextencils. If you like, you can read why I liked Flextencils Mascara here.
Lancome Maquiliquide liquid Foundation
I never liked liquid foundation because of its heavy oily feel on my skin. When Lancome launched Maquiliquide it was a blessing because I can now wear liquid foundation without suffocating or turning into an oil slick! I still have half a bottle to go but once its gone, its a repurchase for me! You can read why I like the Lancome Maquiliquide UV Infinite foundation here.
Lancome Blanc Expert Spot Eraser
If you are like me with fair skin that is prone to freckles, or just have pigmentation, you might be like me and like the Blanc Expert Spot Eraser. It does help lighten freckles if used diligently and with a good sunblock in the day. Its been a repurchase for me 🙂 My earlier review on Blanc Expert Spot Eraser is here.
Lancome Erika F Ombre Absolue eyeshadow
This is a winner by a length and a half by Lancome! Its crazy hard to find at the Lancome counters and its only available in Europe and Asia. Getting it is like finding the Holy Grail 😛 The colour is unique – at turns, green and silver taupe-green. Its texture is sublime – smooth despite the shimmer and it is by turns metallic and shimmery all at the same time. I use this on its own, as a lid colour and as a deep shade by my lash line. Its versatile and you should get your hands on it if you can! 🙂
Lancome Effacernes Softening Concealer
I’m about halfway through with this one and I’m going to get another once I run out. It keeps me looking awake without fading away during the day, and the colour is a perfect match to my skin. It covers dark circles, but doesn’t quite work as well for blemishes. Read my raves for Lancome Effacernes Softening Concealer here.
Lancome L’Absolu Rouge lipstick
L’Absolu Rouge lippies are lovely, light and pigmented. They don’t leave a heavy oily feel on your lips and the range of colours will suit most. My favourite is Rouge Rayonnant 47 (click to see lip swatch). Its not so bright as to scare the general populace despite how it looks in the picture; and its an elegant shade that does not age you. Try it!
Lancome Blush Subtil
Lancome Blush Subtil blushes are a new find. New to me because I’d always found them “aunty” before. Unfortunately, they still look a little bit “aunty” to me in their packaging 😛 I hope they upgrade the packaging soon. I got mine during their warehouse sales (where I take the opportunity to indulge in most things Lancome) and I have Peche Intense and Rose Petale. I’ll share my full review on these soon. In a nutshell, they won’t be here if I didn’t like them 😀
Cheers to Lancome on turning 75! Its impressive how international Lancome has become since its inception by Armand Petitjean. Is that the face of a man who has launched a thousand ships? Not really. But he is the man who brings us this quintessentially French brand with its signature rose.
I wonder why so many cosmetics companies are started by men? Hmm… Lancome is running some roadshows around the country starting in KLCC this week to celebrate their 75th Anniversary so if you are in the area, drop by and take a look.
Are you a fan of Lancome products and if you are, what are your favourites? If you aren’t a fan per se, which products have you tried and liked from Lancome? I could always do with a new find within a brand 🙂

I’m not a fan of Lancome though I did purchased a few items from Lancome last year because I was attracted to the FREE travel brush set which came with a minimum RM150 purchase. I grabbed one L’Absolu Rouge lipstick in Peach and a mascara just in order to qualify for the free gift. 🙂 Well, unfortunately I didn’t quite like the brush set as the blush hair seems to shed even prior to washing. Now, I didn’t want to bring it with me when I travel 🙁 I haven’t start using the other 2 items yet.
ParisB says
Oh that sucks that the brush set didn’t live up to expectations. Do share if you like the lipstick though. I love their L’Absolu Rouge range!

I cant say that i’m a big fan of Lancome, but I kinda like the Lancome products that I’m using at the moment. I love their Aqua Fusion night cream and also the lipgloss. *cant remember the name* haha.
Nice collection of Lancome u have there too 😀
ParisB says
Thanks! I haven’t tried the items you mentioned but its great to know that they are working for you.
Jenn says
Wow… you did try alot of Lancome products before huh!! 😀 The blushes look so pretty!! 😀
Haha i think i’ve said it several times before now, but i can’t live without the Lancome neurowhite spot eraser and emulsion (just bought yet another bottle yesterday!! 😀 )! I love their Primordiale products too… the night and eye creams!! 😀
And oh, the sunblock too!! 😀
ParisB says
The blushes are very pretty! A bit on the boring side though 😉 I remember your love for the Neurowhite series! The sunblock didn’t work for me though but that Spot Eraser is nice.

After reading your post, I just realized I have a number of Lancome products. Dont know if I would call myself a Lancome fan…yet. I had Lancome Primordiale Nuit both day and night cream. Still using half tub of the night cream though.. Texture wise, its still the same it you asked me. But slightly rosey fragnanted (physologically I think heavier than old one). But the smell doesnt bother me, as long it smells nice and not too heavy :p
As for the hall of fame product Erika F, try to get it Lancome kiosk at Metrojaya in Berjaya Times Square, KL. I hope they still have it coz at the time I bought it, they still have plenty of stocks.

Thanks for sharing about the Primordiale Nuit cream. I do agree about that strong rose scent but to my surprise I don’t hate it unlike other rose scented products. 😀

I used to be a big fan of lancome and although now I have grown up and strayed to other brands slightly *shy*, there are still many items from this brand that I like in particular their mascara. I can’t say good enough things about their mascara. I swear by their Cils booster XL/Triple care mascara base and I love the Hypnose, Cils design pro and Amplicils mascara. I have sensitive eyes and a contact lens wearer and this never gives me any problem. I just purchased the Oscillation powerbooster mascara base and I’m hoping that it will perform better than the Cils booster because its also much more exp! Besides that, I used to love Juicy tubes as an adolescent but ive seen moved on to lipsticks and such. Still love them for the lovely scent and juicy finish. Not forgetting their eyeshadows, esp Erika F which I also own. Truly lovely pigmentation and finish.

Great to know their mascara works for you. I’ve also heard a lot of good things about Virtouse so maybe I should try that next time and Yay! Isn’t Erika F da best? 😀
aretha says
oohh ive used 2 tubes of virtuose before previously. you have to be careful though because although its great for lengthening and curling your lashes it does nothing for volume. it does define your lashes nicely though. also, it dries up mega quickly and thats one of the reasons why i will not repurchase it because i dont want to pay so much for a mascara that dries up so quickly! also, i like my lashes to look dramatic so i prefer hypnose. =)
ParisB says
Ooh thanks for the run down. I’ll take a look at both then 😉

I am really new to Lancome, and the only thing that I have is the Sublime Seduction palette, which my aunt got from a friend, and passed to me. It has 5 Color Focus shadows, 2 blushes and 2 lipsticks in a not-so tiny case, hahaha. I love everything about it!!
jojoba (My Makeup Reviews) says
i think i like lancome eye shadow (Euro only) the best as well but not erika f. but the quads instead. i also like its artliner and some lipsticks. lancome skin care doesn’t work for me.

you’ve got me curious about the Primordiale night cream & i’m at the stage when (eek!) i have to start using one! will wait for their warehouse sale though. If u know when it’s on, give a shout-out to us k? 😉
ParisB says
I will do that 🙂 Information will usually be on Facebook or Twitter though if its a big one I’ll mention it here on the blog. Too many sales around and I’m not quite a sales blog 🙂

I use very little Lancome stuff. I love the Bi-facil eye makeup remover. I love my lancome brushes. Very surprising. Lancome makes good brushes which is not raved enough.
ParisB says
Know what? I’ve never used the Bi-Facil remover LOL…
Shay says
Its fantastic for waterproof eye makeup! Try it!
But get from Hong Kong. Its very much cheaper.

I’m yet to actually fall in love with lancome but I do love the maquiliquide 🙂
ParisB says
That’s an awesome foundation eh?

I’m not a big Lancome fan but I absolutely adore their lipsticks. They’re creamy, very moisturizing and pigmented.
ParisB says
Yes they are indeed! Its always great to find some good lipsticks
