Wayhey! Way back in 2007 I told you I liked the L’oreal True Match liquid foundation. Fast forward to 2010 and I find myself test running the “new and improved” L’Oreal True Match liquid foundation now with Hyaluronic Acid. Truly, is there any product out there WITHOUT hyaluronic acid these days?!
As before, I’m N1 – Nude Ivory because I’m neutral and because I have a very light skintone. If you are warm, go for the W or G range and if you are cooler, go for the R range. Find out how to decide if you are warm or cool here.
Let me tell you first, what I feel is different between the old and new True Match liquid foundation:-
- The new formula is lighter
- The new formula seems to be a little sheerer
- The new formula is not so oily
The texture is light on my skin but it is sheer. If you like medium to full coverage you will not like this one. You can layer it, but it will make it look too thick. If you like sheer coverage like I do, you might like this.
I know what you’re wondering – does the Hyaluronic Acid make a difference to the product? Does it make my skin feel more moisturized since the function of hyaluronic acid is to retain moisture?
Truth be told, I cannot tell 😛
I don’t have it settling into any fine lines and I always dust a fine layer of loose powder over it to set. I don’t get oily throughout the day and it does not feel heavy on my skin nor does it dry it out.
Perhaps I’m just not the best person to tell you about the fact I like this liquid foundation, because I already liked the original formula way back in 2007, back when lots of people didn’t LOL…
Oh but here’s one thing I don’t like. I didn’t like the pump because it now feels and looks like flimsy foil covered plastic 😛 I don’t recall the old version looking or feeling like this. It felt sturdier.
Unlike many other people who have reviewed this product, I like the glass bottle the foundation comes in. It adds a level of luxury to a drugstore product and I don’t travel with liquid foundations and I always store my foundations in a box/organizer before, during and after use so I don’t have the threat of it taking a dive off my dressing table.
Oh and here’s something you might have missed – always shake the bottle before use. It mixes up the foundation so it comes out smoother. Otherwise its a bit goopy.
For RM52.90 (cheaper than before!) I think its a decent product but wait to get it during sales because L’Oreal goes on sale often. 🙂
Pros: Light sheer texture, Not heavy nor oily on the skin, Good colour match for me, I like the glass bottle
Cons: Pump feels flimsy and looks cheap, Sheer texture may not appeal to everyone
Have you tried this one or are you one of those for whom L’Oreal True Match did not work for? I know there are people who don’t like it 🙂

I absolutely adore sheer foundations, hehehehe. I’m currently using the Maybelline Angelfit Liquid foundation, and Everyday Minerals Matte (I alternate between the two), and I love them to death!
I swatched this on in Pavillion’s Sasa, and I think its rather similar with the Angelfit, sans the slightly chemically smell.
I actually found Angelfit much thicker and the color selection isn’t as good coz Angelfit was either too pink or too yellow on my skin. Still prefer the L’Oreal one 🙂
havent got the time to try mine.. but i kinda have a good feeling already 😀
hehe which colour were you in the end?
Well, whaddya know…it’s also a blast from past for me too! 🙂 I’ve tried the original and the new one and I gotta say, I like this more! I find it easier to apply (minimising the chances of patchiness and streaks) and I like the fact that it’s sheerer so that I can layer it as needed, unlike the original that leaves my face looking a lil masky…hmm..
Overall, it’s 2 thumbs up for me 🙂
Yay for blasts from the pasts that work better than the original! 😉 I must agree that the new formula is so much easier to work with and less masky on the skin which was something that could happen with the old version.
I love the texture of this one. unbelievably easy to blend. I dare say, comparable to my Armani Luminous Silk (texture wise only la).
I have my foundations in drawer before but not always after :p
I wish Armani Luminous silk worked for me 🙁 I found it a little oily and colour selection was meh. This one’s decent and if you say it feels like LSF i’d take your word for it!
Paris, you’re tempting me terribly..got my hands on the Diorskin Nude LF after reading your reviews abt it..
Now you’re tempting me with this one…or maybe i shud get GA LSF instead..????
But price is…….
Is GA cosmetics still available here in Malaysia???Cz i heard they’re pulling out…
GA is no longer available in Malaysia for now unfortunately. I do still like the Diorskin Nude foundation and use it a lot. This L’Oreal one is a nice drugstore alternative if you can find a shade that suits you – I won’t say they are the same though coz some people have reacted to L’oreal True Match foundation 😉
oww..that’s too bad but i do like Dior’s…its sooo lightweight on the skin…it feels like i have nth on cz im a big fan of sheer coverages 😛
Yep! I love how light Dior’s feels on the skin too 😀
I like this one – but coverage is a little sheer to my liking. This is my “off-day” foundation! 🙂
Yeah definitely sheer – I still prefer powder for off days 😉
I stopped using liquid foundation as they seem to break me out. But I probably wasn’t cleansing properly back then and suffered from clogged pores. The Dior one is very tempting and this L’oreal True Match looks pretty good too.
Sometimes its the ingredients in the liquid foundation or alcohol that might cause it. Especially for those who have sensitive skin.
I’m curious, Paris. If you’re ok with this drugstore foundation, why do you go for high end stuff?
I would like to spend less money on makeup. But a long time ago, my experience with drugstore makeup was a disaster. I would buy a set of makeup to get thru the weddings I had to attend. But left them untouched throughout the year until its time to toss them.
After I started counter brand products, I never looked back. I come to enjoy putting on makeup everyday and look put together for work everyday. It seems like drugstore products are improving nowadays. I would like to try them if they make money sense i.e. they perform decently for what they are worth.
So, wanted to seek your opinion.
I sometimes turn to drugstore products when I have an emergency e.g. I forgot to bring my makeup pouch (as I did the 1st time I tried this foundation) or when I want something I can travel with. I don’t like carrying my expensive department store products around with me when I travel so I always try to find something from the drugstore that can work well so if something happens to it, I don’t feel so heartsick.
My personal first choice always remains department store brands. But its always nice to find a low end product that works. I won’t say that all lower end products are bad nor are they all that great – you do get what you pay for and for things like foundation, there are only so many lower end products that I like – this is one of them in liquid and for powder I turn to Revlon but that’s about it. In the main, I’d still stick to higher end base products and be less fussy about lower end colour 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
I bring along my high end makeup on work trips (if I don’t use them as much as I can, I can’t finish using them at all!!!). Invested in a thick spongy makeup bag to protect my makeup. hehehe…
hi all, i have a slightly different problem. I LOVED the original formula – N7. bought it in 2008 Jan and had that bottle till mid last year and it was perfect. then i went and bought another N7 around Oct 2009 and me and my friend both noticed that the colour was different! even though the new one said N7, it was more reddish and dark on my skin. and it wasnt because my skin had gone lighter because i was using the old N7 right till the day i bought the new one and it was perfect. *sigh* i’m trying to find some stock of the N7 off that original formula. Any ideas where i could get some from?
I’m NC 25 and wondering will N1 be too white / fair for me ? or shld i get N2, instead ?
i have oily skin . can i use this product ?
