I celebrated Chinese New Year with my family members and close friends. It’s a quiet and meaningful celebration this year round.

I celebrated CNY this year NOT getting stuck in a 4 hour traffic jam. 😀 But I had to rush back to KL on the second day of CNY itself. 🙁

I celebrated the Chinese New Year with my family member as we stayed up to celebrate my father’s birthday. Yup, my father’s birthday falls on Valentine’s Day! 😛 Later that day, we travelled down to Muar, Johore, my father’s hometown to visit our relatives and his other friends. Apart from receiving ang pows and munching on all the tit bits, the best part was playing with my cousin nieces and nephews since I only get to see them once or twice a year. 🙂

Because Valentine’s Day was on the 1st day of CNY this year, my boyfriend and I decided to have OUR time earlier(Friday night),so that we could spend quality time with our families during CNY. I absolutely loveee reading, so he bought me some really lovely chic lit, and my gift for him was a buffet meal at Shogun. We didn’t eat ourselves crazy though, we just enjoyed our time together, eating slowly and sharing our food..it was really romantic, just the 2 of us in our little world..perfect slow down after a tiring week at work.
I then spent CNY at my mom’s hometown, with lots of uncles and aunties and grandma!, and it was really difficult resisting the CNY snacks that I’ve missed out on for 4 years(I was studying abroad ..sob) , but I finally gave in on the 3rd day of CNY and gobbled a significant number of pineapple tarts! =D

How did you celebrate the Chinese New Year and/or Valentine’s Day?
I woke up, rushed to church (how come so many CNYs fall on sunday?!) for service, came back eat CNY goodies for breakfast before going to my paternal uncle’s place to visit all the relatives who went there too. Subsequently, go home, wait for all my maternal relatives to come to my place. Fell alseep at 6+pm while waiting for dinner and didn’t wake up until 1am. No dinner left. 🙁

I spent Chinese New Year with a true tiger! – my mother, born in the year of the Tiger. I took the tiger out to lunch and a stroll around the biggest Asian neighbourhood of Brazil. Too bad it was too hot to enjoy it fully, but we came back with lots of cosmetics, hehe. Tigers just know how to keep their beauty.^^

hoooo I’m entering!
To tell the truth, I didn’t celebrate it….or either of them. I don’t like Valentine’s Day (surely becoz I’m single) and we don’t work on Chinese signs here anyway. But I know I was born in the year of tiger, so I’m still telling myself “It’s my year!” LOL I wonder how it will turn out!

I spent my CNY visiting my relatives, playing poker and mahjong, munching new year goodies and watching Chinese classic on SCV. All was great!! Except I kept dozing off at my relatives’ houses and was drooling!! So bad and unglam of me!!

I celebrated CNY but in my country we called it “lunar year“ visiting old folks and eating lot of “ buuz“ it`s like a dimpling and… very cold -20C.

celebrated CNY by visiting relatives, collecting red packets, muching on an overdose of cookies, lots of bad chinese drama accompanied by the usual card games with cousins and lots of laughter in between 🙂

Not a very festive CNY for me this year as I was unable to join the family reunion in KL. The boyfriend is overseas so no Valentine’s celebrations either although it must be said that we never do celebrate Valentine’s anyway. Friends were horrified to learn that I spent CNY Eve having a solitary dinner but it was surprisingly … relaxing. I quite enjoyed it really. It’s been a while since I had some alone time.

as i don’t have any luck with Lady Venus yet, hence my Tiger Year is spent with family members. went back to Grandma’s on the first day and this is the most special new year i’ve ever experienced. there was NO ELECTRICITY! with the Sun glaring, everyone was practically baked in the house.
complaints aside, i think this is a good way to foster our ties since there is no TV to watch and no computer games to play, all of us sat in a circle and played cards while some were chit-chating and laughing. however the little kids were running around undeterred by the hot weather. the next day we had steamboat at home and then off to Bukit Tinggi for some cool air.

Celebrated CNY with an expensive dinner with friends on the eve. We ordered ‘yusheng’ thinking it would be yeesang. Turns out it was a platter of sashimi. We were horrified!

I celebrated Valentine’s Day at the airport. My best friend was leaving to Australia. So we hung out there, and then I went out for lunch with my family. Didnt feel like celebrating, was so sad.
