Sneak Peeks from Maybelline and L’Oreal, New Reads and handpainted plates

February 6, 2010 Paris B 17 Comments

Its the last weekend before the Year of the Tiger comes roaring in and I’m in a frenzy. My house still needs cleaning and clearing, my closet needs organizing and I’m running out of time!

Left: Maybelline Watershine Collagen Lipgloss Right: L'Oreal Hydrafresh Water Plumping Mask

But clearing up aside, I’d like to share with you a quick sneak peek of a couple of items I spotted in Mannings (Guardian) Pharmacy in Hong Kong in early January 2010. I haven’t seen them here so they are “new” but I’m not sure if they are coming in.

One is a new lipgloss by Maybelline – Watershine Collagen cream gloss. I tested it on the back of my hand and it felt nice. Non sticky, relatively pigmented but there was a sweet scent if I recall correctly. It was HKD79 (RM39) if I recall right which was too pricey to experiment. I’ll wait till it gets in here 🙂

The other is a L’Oreal Hydrafresh Water Plumping Mask. Formulated with pure spa water and minerals it is stated to be for dehydrated skin. I put some of the tester on the back of my hand. Feels like a gel with a slight cooling feel. Not sure again whether we’ll get it in here but if you have seen it, holler!

So sneak peeks aside, instead of cleaning, I’m sitting here savouring a new book sent to me by a friend as a surprise gift just because we both adore living the luxury life to the best of our income levels – Deluxe : How Luxury lost its Lustre; and admiring my handpainted plates 😀

I should be clearing up instead of reading!

Its early days yet. I only read a few pages before I had to tear myself away and do something about the clutter that’s slowly creeping out of my room and into my living room. Back! Back! I say! I swear it breeds in there 😛

But what are those 2 colourful plates I hear you ask? Well, they are glass plates hand painted by moi the hidden artist *snorts with derision*

Not quite avant garde nor luxury but I’m terribly proud of it because most of the painting was done by me. I’ll tell you the story of how it came about another day – its a long one 🙂

Now, what are you doing this weekend? Needless to say, I’m cooped up at home. I have the sun streaming through my windows while I clear and scrub away, because I’ve sent my curtains to be washed – I hope they get back to me soon or I’d be baked!

OOOOO… I love Maybelline stuff, partly because they’re hypoallergenic, so it suits me very, very well. I can’t wait for the new lipglosses!!

Happy Saturday, PB! Those plates are gorgeous! Well done you!

I’ve read the book too. I think it’s a great read and I think you’d enjoy it if you love luxury/couture 😉

We went for a super early breakfast. Then, house inspection. Then, we met up with Tine where we egged each other on in LV and Chanel – horrible to each others’ credit cards 😛 I tried on boots at Country Road-knee high boots without zip and she helped me tug them off because I’ve fat calves, HAHA. So, all in all, damn fun Saturday 🙂

There are different covers? I didn’t know that! I actually went to check out the Vernis wallet last week – totally forgot to take a look at the Mahina until I walked out (and they locked up after me)! 😛 I’ll be going back so I’ll take a look 😀

I tell stories on Instagram @parisbmws

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪
Been ages since I’ve gone to a big pasar malam ( Been ages since I’ve gone to a big pasar malam (night market). Popped by the one in SS2. Frenetic. Crowded. Lots of food and drink. Excellent good fun! 😆 Your eyes always want more than your stomach can handle. Ate a lot and bought even more food back home. Diet? What diet? 😂
Will have to admit that this serum from @drsambunt Will have to admit that this serum from @drsambunting had me curious about Azelaic acid. It’s a pretty good serum for brightening if Vit C isn’t quite your thing. It’s a 4-in-1 combo of pretty potent ingredients.

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
