Its the last weekend before the Year of the Tiger comes roaring in and I’m in a frenzy. My house still needs cleaning and clearing, my closet needs organizing and I’m running out of time!
But clearing up aside, I’d like to share with you a quick sneak peek of a couple of items I spotted in Mannings (Guardian) Pharmacy in Hong Kong in early January 2010. I haven’t seen them here so they are “new” but I’m not sure if they are coming in.
One is a new lipgloss by Maybelline – Watershine Collagen cream gloss. I tested it on the back of my hand and it felt nice. Non sticky, relatively pigmented but there was a sweet scent if I recall correctly. It was HKD79 (RM39) if I recall right which was too pricey to experiment. I’ll wait till it gets in here 🙂
The other is a L’Oreal Hydrafresh Water Plumping Mask. Formulated with pure spa water and minerals it is stated to be for dehydrated skin. I put some of the tester on the back of my hand. Feels like a gel with a slight cooling feel. Not sure again whether we’ll get it in here but if you have seen it, holler!
So sneak peeks aside, instead of cleaning, I’m sitting here savouring a new book sent to me by a friend as a surprise gift just because we both adore living the luxury life to the best of our income levels – Deluxe : How Luxury lost its Lustre; and admiring my handpainted plates 😀

Its early days yet. I only read a few pages before I had to tear myself away and do something about the clutter that’s slowly creeping out of my room and into my living room. Back! Back! I say! I swear it breeds in there 😛
But what are those 2 colourful plates I hear you ask? Well, they are glass plates hand painted by moi the hidden artist *snorts with derision*
Not quite avant garde nor luxury but I’m terribly proud of it because most of the painting was done by me. I’ll tell you the story of how it came about another day – its a long one 🙂
Now, what are you doing this weekend? Needless to say, I’m cooped up at home. I have the sun streaming through my windows while I clear and scrub away, because I’ve sent my curtains to be washed – I hope they get back to me soon or I’d be baked!
Paris B
*sniff sniff*….me and traditional art have never been friends…. T__T I can’t draw or paint to save my life! *fidgets*
You could actually surprise yourself – I know I did 🙂 I can’t do any art to save my life too
the Loreal mask is in Malaysia, but so far i only see them in Carrefour. And limited to only a few Watson outlet. it’s pretty hard to spot.
i actually have this, but it’s meh =-= Not really impressive for the price I pay. I think it was rm29.90.
Ah thanks for the confirmation that its here and its a right bummer that its only meh
OOOOO… I love Maybelline stuff, partly because they’re hypoallergenic, so it suits me very, very well. I can’t wait for the new lipglosses!!
Me too! They actually looked good on the back of my hand 🙂 Hope they bring them in
Deluxe is a great read – I couldn’t put it down. Enjoy!
I’m already hooked! 😀
Happy Saturday, PB! Those plates are gorgeous! Well done you!
I’ve read the book too. I think it’s a great read and I think you’d enjoy it if you love luxury/couture 😉
We went for a super early breakfast. Then, house inspection. Then, we met up with Tine where we egged each other on in LV and Chanel – horrible to each others’ credit cards 😛 I tried on boots at Country Road-knee high boots without zip and she helped me tug them off because I’ve fat calves, HAHA. So, all in all, damn fun Saturday 🙂
Thanks Geek and it sounds like you had a fun Saturday! Consolation that neither of you busted your cards 😉
Eeyer, the book cover’s so nice! Mine and Geek’s covers ain’t that purdy 😛 But what an interesting read it was.
How difficult it was to pull away from the Mahina wallet at LV today. One of these days, one of these days …. 😛
There are different covers? I didn’t know that! I actually went to check out the Vernis wallet last week – totally forgot to take a look at the Mahina until I walked out (and they locked up after me)! 😛 I’ll be going back so I’ll take a look 😀
PB! I need to rest up as I am really under the weather with my colds and headache. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I hope you get well soon Nikki! *hugs*
I had seen the Loreal mask in sasa outlets in Malaysia! Do share how well the mask works ya! 🙂
If I ever get it I’ll be sure to talk about it.
I very interested in getting L’Oreal Hydrafresh Water Plumping Mask…. can’t wait to get a hold of it!
