Ms. Nosy Parker Asks: What Skincare mask did you use? Mine is IDI Italy MultiAction Mask

February 24, 2010 Paris B 23 Comments

Yay! Time for the weekly question by Ms. Nosy Parker 😀

What skincare mask did you use most recently?

Mine is the new MultiAction Mask by IDI Italy 1858 (RM186/50ml) which is part of their Lab 0.31 line and currently available at IDI Italy 1858 counters in Guardian pharmacies and other leading pharmacies.

I used this the day I returned from an all day driving trip under the hot hot sun. Even with high SPF sunscreen on, my skin felt a little warm in the evening. So, I decided to slap this one on.

The MultiAction Mask is formulated for sensitive skin, so I figured skin that was warmed up by the sun wouldn’t suffer. And I was right. It has a nice slightly cooling effect on contact with the skin. Not cold or anything, but gently cools it. I liked that especially when there is no fragrance. The cream mask comes in a tub and its pure white. It also feels like thick cream. If you cook, you’ll know what I’m talking about. I sometimes feel like I’m spreading cooking cream on my face LOL… It doesn’t dry hard on the skin and I usually leave it on about 1/2 an hour. Since it contains no fragrance there is nothing to bug my nose.

The mask is supposed to help cleanse skin of sebum, be anti-aging, moisturizing and brightening. Its a very tall order for a jar of cream mask!

I cannot attest to the first or second but I can attest to the fact that it is non drying. After washing off the mask (it takes a while. I like to wet it and gently “scrub” it off before rinsing thoroughly. It does stick to the skin a little, so be thorough) the skin does not feel tight so there is some hydration. But it does not feel “wet” and “plump” like how some other hydrating masks feel.

I can also attest to there being some brightening of the skin immediately after use. However, since the product contains glycolic acid, I’m not quite surprised. Glycolic acid acts as a gentle peel on the skin to remove the dead cells on the surface.

One caveat when using products with glycolic acid is to make sure you use a high SPF sunscreen because your skin can be more sensitive to the sun. Unlike other products I’ve used with glycolic acid, there was no burning sensation nor did my skin turn red.

So upshot of it all after blathering to and fro is “Do I like this?”

Answer: I don’t know! I like the fact that it soothes and cools my skin down and that it keeps my skin feeling supple even after washing off. I’m however ambivalent to its multitasking qualities as I can’t quite get my head around products that can perform a variety of functions and perform them well. Also, the masses might find it a little pricey although if you are used to department store products then you could be immune to its price.

I would however like to know how people with sensitive skins feel about this if you have tried it, because really, it was formulated for you! 🙂 So that’s me. How about you?

What was the skincare mask you most recently used and how did you like it or hate it?

I like cloth masks or instant masks too. Takes the fuss out of washing up after that 🙂

Well, I’m using Clarins’ Hydraquench mask, but rather infrequently… only once every other week cos I’m a bit lazy when it comes to masks. But it sure does make my skin feel nice when I can be bothered to use it. 🙂

    Hi,

I use Clarins mask too, the hydraquench and pure and radiant mask. The hydraquench did make my face more supple, while the pure & radiant mask did gives some radiant-(make from pink clay), not too much, but ok. But the fragrance maybe a bit strong for some. I’ll try to do the mask twice weekly, alternating between the 2.

    cheers, 😉

Boy am I really unlucky or what? I just used Montagne Jeunesse’s Self Heating Vanilla Fudge Sauna and yea, I got breakouts… 3 PIMPLES! I’ve been pimple free for more than 8 months already! One thing I liked abt the mask is that it’s HOT! Even hotter than the nivea one… another thing I liked abt it is that the smell wasn’t so overpowering as the nivea one too! One major thing I didn’t like abt it is that the mask was toooo liquid-y… so every minute, there will be something dripping and I mean dripping! Very ‘mafan’ cuz I was reading my book and had to keep wiping the mask … *sighs*

I’ve recently used a facial mask and it’s a hydrating one too! 😀 It’s by Artistry and worked really well to hydrate and brighten my face. The best thing I like about it is that it’s non-drying and you can apply around the eye area.

The other face masks I’ve tried is The Body Shop’s Tea Tree one, which contains kaolin. Not sure if that line’s still available…

Nice post! Especially to remind me that I should slap on a face mask soon. Can you believe life is so busy that I do my masks now in the shower???

Enjoy it, while you can, young lady 😉

Hey at least you are taking out some me time in the shower! 😀 All that warm steam will do wonders to clean your pores too and I’m positively grinning at the “young lady” reference 😀

I’m using the Mukti Buttermilk & Oat Masque with a drop of Vitamin E. CNY was terrible in the sense that seafood was too prevalent hence a bout of allergies right now, bleh. The buttermilk mask really helps to calm it down and the Vitamin E helps to fade the scars faster. (Yes, my allergies leaves me with some marks, tough!). I used to get my Vitamin E to be mixed in with masks from Vitamin E capsules (those that you ingest) but now I bought a proper Vitamin E serum that’s intended for skin. It works wonders when you mix it into masks and stuff. But only to be used sparingly.

I am using TBS honey and oats mask. It reduces the oilies without dying out my skin so i’m pretty happy with it I guess. I think what I love the most about it is the smell.

I love TBS Vitamin E moisture sink-in mask – its gel cream, very soothing, no rinse-just wipe with tissue) definite result (even when I use it once in a while ~ lazy) my skin feel hydrated and i thought look well rested after every application.
For instant mask i really love Ginvera Green Tea mask sheet! hydrating & brightening after every use. gentle relaxing scent..
I’ve also tried Sothy’s leave in hydrating mask.. but a bit in different about it.. perhaps it’s supposed to work like serum?

Teehee…come to mask, i ve been alternating among few masks.
When it comes to hydrating mask, I am using nanowhite hydrating whitening mask currently. Frankly i dont really like it, but just thought of finishing it off and be my last one. Next call would be Cellnique Hydrating Masks.
When I feel like to brighten my face a bit, I use Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque coz it helps to exfoliate at the same time. Cost a bomb, that is why I am alternating my usage of masks lol..
I use instant masks when I feel like to relax especially on a lazy afternoon, and I love I love my Dainty Design All in One Collagen Mask (you can find it in Watson stores), it have a soothing fragrance that makes u relax and it somehow helps to whiten my face too.
And on top of all, my regular mask is Artistry Pore Cleansing Masque. Since my skin type is oily, I like to stick to clay mask as it really feels like it cleans into your skin and so far this is the only clay mask easily available for me…yay…!

I’m using organic pharmacy’s honey and jasmine mask which leaves my skin supple and deeply moisturised as promised on the box. Very potent for my occasional dry skin.
When my skin is dull, I like to use 100% pure’s pineapple enzyme mask to brighten up dull skin and to minimize pores.

I’m hooked on those sheet masks especially the ones from My Beauty Diary. Once a week, I use a more deep-cleansing type but only on the t-zone (Aesop Primrose mask) and then follow up with a hydrating sleeping pack all over the face (Laneige). I am totally lovin’ facial masks and find that they have helped my skin since starting the routine.

Go check out the Jobots at Mid Valley Megamall Centre Court & experience their signature hand and arm massages, gift boxing, personalised engraving of your perfume bottles & candle jars & play with the vending machine. You could get lucky!
No prizes for guessing which Jobot installation was my favourite! The one with the dog of course! They also had a key chain with a dog. So. Bloody. Cute!!
And after so many years finally got a photo with event organizer extraordinaire @cyrus.chin because we didn’t get the white & beige memo and came instead in (unplanned) matching sunny coral instead 😂
It felt good to have makeup on, dress up and go out for a tiny little bit, and meet people I haven’t seen in literally years! Also to enjoy the scents (hard to smell with a mask on though) and the visual delights. Go check it out. They’re there at the Centre Court until Sunday 3 July.
