Louis Vuitton Bleu Nuit Vernis leather blew me away!

February 21, 2010 Paris B 33 Comments

Mmm… chilli red Vernis leather or what Louis Vuitton calls Pomme d’Amour was a colour I was “lemming”. The rumours on the grapevine say that this gorgeous shade of red might be discontinued soon. So, if you have been wanting something in pomme d’amour, best pick it up now before its gone for good and you have to pay a LOT more on ebay etc in future. With this in mind, I popped into the local LV boutique to check it out.

I sniffed around the boutique a bit trying on various items in Pomme d’Amour Vernis but decided it was all a little much for even me who likes my red RED. Instead my eye was drawn by a new colour – Bleu Nuit (Lit. Night Blue)

  • Save

Bleu Nuit is a unique dark blue-green navy with sparkles vernis treated leather which gives it a shiny look. Bleu Nuit, for anyone wondering, changes colour depending on the light which really captivated me. Granted Vernis leather is not a look many will like, and neither did I until recently. I saw it in the Sunset Boulevard clutch and the Bellevue PM bag and it actually looks way more sumptuous in person than I ever expected. No prizes for guessing which one followed me home LOL…

Prices at LV fluctuate from time to time (actually they keep going up and never go down 😛 ) so check at louisvuitton.com or your local LV boutique for latest prices. I blew my ang pow and bonus (and then some!) on my purchase and happily too! But it was a long awaited treat for a job well done so yay! 😀

Bleu Nuit j’adore!

My brief observation about shopping at Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton stores in Kuala Lumpur are at Starhill Galley and Suria KLCC. I’ve shopped at both. Starhill Gallery gives me a more luxurious feel and I feel better taken care of there as its quieter. At Suria KLCC, I feel a little more harassed because I’m seated at a “bar counter” and the sales assistants are very busy due the high traffic from locals and tourists.

Given a choice, I prefer to shop at Starhill Gallery because its more relaxed and quieter and more befitting the luxury feel of the brand. That said, I’ve had excellent service in both stores, irrespective of how I dress (I tend to dress down as a test for all designer stores) and whether I buy anything or am just window shopping. The sales assistants will always bring me products from the store if it isn’t displayed and don’t make faces at me or stare down at me if I just look at them and don’t buy. Understandably, sometimes, we need to think about things since prices are so high.

So if you’d like to pay a visit to LV, I’d say just visit whichever store is more convenient and don’t be overly intimidated nor put yourself on a pedestal. A smile usually goes a very long way towards getting friendly service from anyone anywhere 🙂

    so cute, the bag!
I’m pleased to hear that the LV store staff don’t look down on non datin-like customers. That’s quite rare in Malaysia! Personally I still feel very much intimidated by such stores and have never stepped into one before. With the exception of Jimmy Choo but that was for work

Yep! I used to be scared to death of going into designer stores but of all the brands I go to, LV is one of the friendliest (if not one of the most expensive!) In fact, even Chanel staff are friendly. Its stores like Guess that do the whole “I look down on you if you aren’t a Mak Datin” thing which boggles my mind 😛

OMGOMGOMG!! Its soooo pretty!!!!! But I prefer a rather large one from the Vernis collection. But unfortunately, I am not fluent in bag-speak so yeah. It was on display in the LV store near Intercontinental Hotel in Bangkok, hehehehe. I had to look at it everytime I pass by… Hehehehe

The Vernis collection has tons of bags LOL Not even I am savvy enough on them all. It could however be the Bellevue in the larger version. I liked the little dinky size vs the larger more spacious size 🙂

This color is certainly good for the “mysterious mature woman” personality. Hehe. Red is more striking though.

Yup it looks great in person while Red is “fierce” – would be nice to have the red in a wallet though. Maybe I’ll get there 😛

Oh hey, I’m impressed to hear that the customer service at LV in KL lives up to its name!

I’m not a brand conscious person either esp LV but the excellent customer service we received (as part of a very, very dowdily-dressed and noisy tour group) at THE Louis Vuitton outlet in Paris “may” convert even a cynic like me 😀

Wow sounds like LV has a policy of being nice everywhere which is great! Tourists are the best tests – I’m always slumming it as a tourist and if I get great service then, its 2 thumbs up for me!

Thanks Monstro! Its always nice to see luxury brands being nice isn’t it? It makes them so much more approachable (and more detrimental to the wallet 😉 )

I was in Burberry in Pavillion and I felt I was in any other normal stores LOL, I did not feel extra special la as the Sales assistants were all tending to customers who kept pouring in and I even step on to some spilled ice cream on the floor. @@

Yuck! That sounds nasty. Did you tell the SAs to do something about their sticky floor? I don’t quite get that lux feel in Burberry too. I don’t know why – their prices sure are “luxurious”!

Another customer did, but the SA could not clean it up immediately as they were really short handed. I tried on a shirt, wah, I really know what “luxurious” feel then. Did not get it though ^ ^

I usually just smile and say I’ll think about it. The SA are usually fine with it since things cost so much in those stores anyway! 🙂

just visited LV in Starhill and purchased a bag and a purse. Sure the SA are friendly but i do feel that service in LV Milan or even LV Tokyo and Osaka are way above the one in starhill. the SA who was attending to me was a bit annoying- it seems like i was attending to her instead of the other way around cos i had to ask supernicely everytime i wanted to view a few different handbags before making my purchase. And everytime i asked to view a handbag from the shelves or wherever she gave this look of annoyance (i could’ve sworn she even rolled her eyes)…since i am an avid LV fan and i couldn’t wait till my next overseas trip to get the bag that i love i decided to purchased them anyway. Just then she started being a liiiiiiittle bit nicer to me. I think that particular staff was having her PMS or sth. Another thing i notice was that a few of the other SA (males and females) together with the one attending to me kept on gossiping and laughing at customers who just browsed through the store not buy anything…all of this giggling and laughing happening right while me and a few other customers were busy viewing the handbags that we asked for. Isn’t that unprofessional or what?

Gosh sorry to hear of your bad experience. I’ve only ever had good ones there. LV at singapore wasn’t very nice to me or London at Selfridges and I had appalling service at Chanel Paris which shocked me too so I know where you’re coming from.
