Eat your Fruits! Try Clinique Mixed Berries and Fresh Picked Pear for Spring 2010

February 23, 2010 Paris B 13 Comments

Clinique Juiced Up Colour Spring 2010

For a balanced diet, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, so the nutritionists tell us.

I’ve yet to see any cosmetics company come up with a vegetable themed collection but Clinique is taking up the fruits challenge with their new Juiced Up Colour collection for Spring 2010. When I first previewed it a month ago, I knew it would be a while before I’d touch them – they are so pretty to look at!

But mess around with them I did over the break and I’m ready to share my thoughts on the products.

Clinique All over Face Color – Mixed Berries (RM115)

The Mixed Berries all over face color is what I’d prefer to use as a blush. Even then, on light skintones, there is a risk of it going on a little dark. I found it rather puzzling that when I swatched the colours, it went on my skin a little bronze. On someone with darker skintone than mine, I can imagine that it would make a lovely blush.

For myself, after lots of experimenting, I now use mainly the top 2 colours for a berry blush. I think it is a blush more suited for Summer than Spring.

Pros: Nice pigment, Is not powdery

Cons: Colour is a little bronzed, Might be too dark for those with very light skintone

Clinique Fresh Picked Pear Eyeshadow (RM75)

I’m a green eyeshadow fiend and if you are new to using green eyeshadow, you might like this one. The eyeshadow is duo coloured – green and cream with gold shimmer.

I say its good for new green eyeshadow users because the colour is light. I tried swatching it on my arm but came up with nothing to show. So, I decided to show you how it looks on my eyes. You can see that the colour is light but fresh. I’m not a fan of light shadows but I found myself liking this because its great for those days when I want colour yet can’t quite put on all out colour.

I like to layer the green over black eyeliner for more oomph. Add on lashings of dark mascara and its a pretty fresh polished look with just a hint of colour to keep people guessing. The eyeshadow comes in Fresh Picked Berries too which is similar in tone to the Mixed Berries powder.

Pros: Applies very smoothly, Easy to pick up colour (I use fingers), Light colour is good for beginners, gold shimmer is smooth and not too glittery

Cons: Some might find it too sheer

The Clinique Juiced Up Spring 2010 collection is available at Clinique counters from February 2010.

Now rack your brains – is there a vegetable themed cosmetic collection? And would you buy them if there was? 😀

After seeing the swatch I have another lemming killed instantly… the all over face color looks too dark for me. 🙁 Sigh…

I reckon it will be a bit dark for you to be honest. That green might work though – an easy to apply look that employers may not look twice at 😉

I actually saw the Spring 2010 collection at the Clinique counter recently – didn’t swatch it, but even then I was thinking that it looked too dark for my liking. So I thought I’d wait for your review since I know that stuff that matches your skintone would most probably suit me too. Hehehe.

Since this lemming is killed, I shall now move the Dior Pink Diamond blush you reviewed previously to the top of my lemming list. 🙂

I was lemming the blush but after seeing the swatches I think it’ll be too dark for my pale skin. 🙁

Personally I feel the same way. Its lovely to look at and perhaps on someone with darker skintones but on light skintones it might just be too much unless all you use is the top 2 shades and leave the rest for summer 🙂

Thanks Nikki! Is it any wonder I have a ton and a half of green shadow? 😉

I tried the eyeshadow duo but didn’t like it because the colours weren’t that special and applied very lightly. The fruit theme is super cute though!
