Tip: Wash your hands after applying Serum or Lotion

January 12, 2010 Paris B 29 Comments

Have you thought about this one?

After I apply my Elseve royal jelly serum through my hair, I wash my hands. Then, when I apply my body lotion before bed, I do the same – wash my hands.

Here’s my logic for this quick and easy tip.

I may not go straight to sleep after my night routine and I usually don’t. So, after applying serums and lotions on my hair and body, I might do anything from touch my face to eat something like a fruit and I don’t really want to transfer chemicals or lotions from my hands to my face or to ingest it.

It doesn’t call for much really, just 2 seconds to pop into the bathroom, wash your hands and pop back out.

Do you do that? Will you, now that you’ve thought about it? Thoughts in a comment below!

but if you put hand lotion before you sleep, you don’t wash them after that, right? 🙂

      Hey Jenn

I guess the only thing that gets to me is the hair serum which I feel a bit grossed out by – glad to know I’m not alone 🙂

For hair serum i wash off because it tends to be a little sticky. But if face lotion i will rub it again my legs so it feels clean after doing that 🙂

I do too! Cos serums like these are really thick, and they just keep reminding me that my hands are dirty. Especially after applying sunscreen.

      Hi Jyoan

Funnily enough I don’t get bugged by sunscreen but lotions and serums bug me. Hmm… 🙂

    Hi!

I normally put on my face moisturiser first, then only put on hair cream/serum etc. Then only wash my hand and go eat frutis if any……;-D

as for hands cream and body lotion, i put b4 going to bed. if i need to eat after applying lotion, i’ll use a fork! ;-D

LOL. Yes, so do I. I wash my hands in the morning after applying serum and sunblock to my face. Or hair serum too. Can’t stand the goo-ey feel. I also wash my hands after applying my Face Oasis to my face at night. The only thing I leave on is body or hand moisturiser. Because it would be totally D.u.h to wash that off right? =P

      Hi Germaine

Its all those silicones in hair serums that get to me and that’s a good tip to use a mild hand soap 🙂

This is something new for me…. I apply these stuff after I take a bath so I would assume I’m very clean. After I apply serum or lotion, I would just wipe my hands with tissue after.. that’s it! And if ever I eat, I always wash my hands before that. 🙂

      Hi there

Tissue works too but I guess I just prefer washing 🙂 And yes washing hands before eating is another good idea – its scary the number of people who do not!

I always wash my hand after applying moisturizer/body lotion/serum, etc. Now I’ve a dog, I make sure my hands are clean before I go and play/hold him. I just don’t want him to lick anything left on my hands!

I’ve just vomited after eating after using products without washing hands so I’d definirely think this is a tip you should all do, if you haven’t thought about it before now :-/ x
