Mom Reviews the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream

January 28, 2010 Paris B 36 Comments

Thanks for coming by my open cafe day yesterday – boy! We sure can chat eh? 😀 I’ve had to close comments but if you all enjoyed that, I’ll open up another chat session the next time I’ve got some free time. Let me know yeah? 🙂

Now, on with the programme.

If you watch tv, you will notice the Olay Regenerist ad where they show you a cream that purportedly beat all other luxury and expensive creams in performance. I’m curious – which is the RM2,000 cream they compared it against? I want to see that one! Is it infused with diamonds? 😛

Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream

The Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting cream is touted as a luxury anti-aging cream without the luxury pricetag; and I saw a used jar on my Mom’s dressing table! It is nearly finished so I roped her in to do me a review on it 😀

Note: The following review of the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is based on a brief interview I had with Mom so no, I have not personally tried it for results except for texture.

Appearance and Texture:

The red tub looks luxurious and the thick white cream feels rich on my skin. Its not oily though and absorbs quite quickly. There is also a strong fragrance. What Mom thinks of this cream is as below.

What Mom says about the cream:

“I bought this cream from Guardian because I ran out of night creams and was curious after seeing the TV ad. I was interested in the claim that it micro-sculpts the skin. I found the skin around my jawline feeling loose so I decided to try it.

I used it day and night initially but am now only using it at night. I have been using it for more than 2 months and I find that my skin texture has improved and feels more taut. The skin on my face and neck is more firm and my jawline looks more defined. I saw the difference in just 1 week! I must say I’m very happy with the results I’ve seen using this cream.”

Olay Regenerist cream - thick and strong fragranced

What PB observes:

Mom’s skin definitely looks clearer and more taut and wrinkles are less obvious. I had not seen her much in the past 2 months so when I did, I was impressed at how much younger she looks. A friend told me the same thing – that Mom incredibly looks way younger than her 60 years. Interestingly, I also noticed that skin discolouration was minimized too. She then told me about how wonderful the Olay Regenerist cream was for her and looking at the results on her skin I must believe it.

A 50ml jar of Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream retails at under RM100 at most major pharmacies (unsure of price). Its not cheap but heck! It works for Mom!

Pros: Skin looks and feels more firm and taut, Skin looks clearer

Cons: None

Have you or your mom tried this cream and do you have a story to share? I’m so curious about it, I want to try it for myself. But as the texture is a little thick, I don’t think I want to risk it for now. Maybe in a couple of years 😉

I nearly wanted to buy this when it was on sale for RM86.90? Or so la. Normal price was RM90+ if not mistaken >_<

my skin feels like as though it's sagging? XD Texture isn't really that thick, I tested it liao. Absorbs quite fast ler. Good as a massage cream. Hm… should I get one?

Apparently, if used as a massage cream once a week, its very good. I reckon if you feel your skin might need a little help, its worth giving it a shot 🙂 My mom loves it anyway

LOL. okay. i pray Guardian/ watson still got that sale! So wanting to get it but then thought I might not suit it since it’s targetted at more mature women 😛

i’ll see if it works on my old skin!

Yeah I think Olay did target it at more mature women but these days, with all the ravages of the environment I have to wonder if we all aren’t getting a little “older” in our skincare too!

Interesting review! Way to go, mummy of Paris!

I’ve just bought a jar from Priceline because it was on sale and like your mum, I’m running out of night cream. I’ll give this a go, do you think I’m too young to go on a cream like this? Maybe not…I’m definitely no spring chicken!

Hey I don’t believe in there being an “age” where you should use products. If it works, it works 😀 Let me know what you think of it!

oh, i have tried this one, also its ‘sister’ ie the REGENERIST NIGHT CREAM too…and it really smoothens my skin….till my sis wanna try it now…
so i guess it works for me.

And, honestly, it shows +ve differences compared to my Clarins RM200+ night cream, so I guess for now, i will continue using this under RM100 cream.
I’ve even switched to Total Effects for daytime, coz it’s got spf15. Not so damaging to my pocket.

Good to know it works for you! I used the Regenerist serum when it was first launched. Broke me out so bad I have never looked at the brand again. Now perhaps I will 😛

I haven’t seen this in my local guardian store, but what I have to say is that your mom sure is consistent in her creams! I bought one EL cream for my mom and the creams are still pretty much filled up to the brim (btw, they are expired already now!) and she only uses it when she remembers them. -_-

    Hi Paris,
My mum has been using this too. She liked it instantly, said it absorbed immediately. I have noticed that her skin tone is more even now and her skin looks firmer. It went on sale a while back to about RM 70 per jar, she stocked up like crazy so I guess she really likes it. Uses it every day without fail (she’s not been the type to care for skincare).

I’m excited when you mentioned, that the jawline is more defined after 1 week of usage. That’s incredible… I feel my jawline is kinda getting out of shape now.. or maybe there’s a lil double chin forming… Hope this helps… XD

I think the RM2000 one is from Sisley. Saw it in The Address mag recently. Thought it’s nuts. I’ll buy diamonds over night cream any time at that price. I’m sure the bling bling will distract from any skin imperfections. HAHA.

I thought as much LOL Its crazy. Like you I’d buy diamonds instead of a cream. For RM2000 the cream better be able to clean house and make breakfast!

my mum has been an olay fan for the longest time, n i tell u, her skin is sooooo soft and smooth!

i did, at one time begged her out of her regenerist serum for myself, n my skin showed some difference too. of course, when it ran out i ventured into some other brands, but now that the current one is almost done, i’m seriously thinking to get back to regenerist serum 🙂

My mom was using Olay Regenerist (the normal lower end one) before I switched her to Clinique (got it cheap at warehouse sale. heh.) Maybe I shall get this one for her to try when she next tells me that she’s running low on cream. 😛

Thanks for your mom’s review Peebs! I’ve been scouting around for a moisturiser for me moms. LOL. Very timely. And glad to know it works for her. I bought TBS Wise Woman for her to try, but apparently it didn’t work for her, and she hated it. Oh well, we’ll give Olay a spin then. =P

I tried the tester at Watsons/Guardian. A bit thick to me as I usually don’t use creams. I’m more of a gel person.

But I decided to give this range a chance and got the eye serum as I have sprout lines at my undereye. The lines are a wee little bit less obvious. But I do need to use a moisturising eye balm to sort of plump it out. hahaha…hope my undereye area will continue to improve.
