I Nuovi has a new lip product that I think will be a hit. Over time, I’ve discovered that I belong in a minority of women who prefer using lipstick over lipgloss. Recognizing this, I Nuovi has a new Megalips Velvetshine lipstick/lipgloss to cater to BOTH categories of women!
The product comes in a dualended tube with 2 different applicators. On one end is the Lip Shine which has a sponge tipped doe foot applicator like a regular gloss.
The other end has the Lip Velvet which has a brush applicator as is commonly found in liquid lipstick.
My colour is Chinatown Glam which is, as you have seen a very bright combination – not for the faint hearted! However, the formula allows you to modulate the intensity of colour so you can wear it as sheer or as strong as you like.
I like the Lip Shine – its sheer and glossy yet not thick and goopy as regular lipgloss tends to be. It goes on very smoothly and I get a lovely slick of red lips toned down for the office on days when I’m feeling nice. There is a light Vanilla scent that does not bug me but which thankfully fades quite quickly.
On days when I’m feeling a little more daring, I use the Lip Velvet which is of a thicker consistency and more pigmented. It goes on very pigmented and despite the Velvet name, does not go on matte but shiny and shimmery. In Chinatown Glam, the Lip Velvet is rather dark red. Nothing over the top though. I do find it a little too metallic and drying on its own so I’d recommend you layer this for best effect.
When I really want to go all out, I layer them one over the other. If I layer Lip Velvet over Lip Shine, I get a super strong lip. But if I do it the other way round and layer Lip Shine over Lip Velvet, I get a more toned down lip colour that is glossy as opposed to shimmery. I like both shades!
By this reckoning, I’m getting 4 colours out of 1 tube of lip product – not bad at all! The colour lasts despite all that glossiness. I can make it through to lunch without touching up even though I’ve been drinking water and coffee.
Each Megalips Velvetshine retails at I Nuovi stores and counters for RM60 (Malaysia) or S$30 (Singapore) or US$25 (online)
Pros: Versatile lip colour, Lipshine is Non drying and not sticky, Pigmented colour and lasts on lips
Cons: Lip Velvet can be a little drying, Color swatches online are off – see Chinatown Glam online and see the actual color above and you’d know what I mean
Prettybeautiful likes Chinatown Glam too and Connie likes Barely French 🙂
If you aren’t feeling very brave, don’t go for Chinatown Glam but try one of the other 8 more subtle shades available in the I Nuovi Megalips Velvetshine range. I’ve seen the magic Chinatown Glam can weave so I’m thinking of trying one of the more subtle colours to see if it can be amped up. Perhaps Harajuku Chic or Sahara Magic or even Latin Lover. You? 🙂
Stay beautiful,
Paris B
