Random Ramblings: Smashbox in KL, Diamond Botan Brush, Guerlain Christmas 2009 and more!

October 31, 2009 Paris B 30 Comments

Time for our weekly installment of random ramblings!

Strange search query of the week

The strange search query of the week was this “converting line for used sanitary napkin” where they came on my post about using cloth pads. I don’t know – was that search what I think it was?! :O

Smashbox Cosmetics in Malaysia – finally!

Remember when I said that Smashbox Cosmetics was coming into Malaysia? Well chicas, they’re IN! Head on down to Parkson Pavilion Kuala Lumpur where you can check out the Smashbox Cosmetics counter in all its glory.

Star products I know of are the Photo Finish primer, Halo perfecting powder (with cheese grater 😀 ) and O Glow cream blush and lip tint – none of which I’ve tried 😛 There is a full range of products and this special trial set available for purchase with a really cute little blush/powder . Also, this weekend there are extra vouchers for cosmetics purchases so its a good time to buy! 😀

Selberan Diamond Shu Uemura Botan Brush – gawk at it!

The Finals of the Shu Uemura Asean Makeup Competition was held at the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur during the week where we saw cutie-pie Uchide-san International Director for Shu Uemura work his makeup magic on 2 models within 5 minutes. Fascinating makeup aside, the grand prize for the winner captivated me – a specially made Selberan diamond encrusted Shu Uemura Botan brush! Gawk at it! Go on… I did! 😀 (Prize was won by Adeline Yeoh of Singapore) And while I was gawking, I also gawked at Guerlain’s offering for Christmas 2009!

Guerlain Imperiale Holiday/Christmas Collection 2009

I know Guerlain is a super luxury brand (for most of us anyway) but while we’re gawking at diamond encrusted botan brushes, lets gawk too at Guerlain’s offering for the Holidays. Mmm… Look at that Guerlain Rouge G lippie…. Guerlain is so so luxurious!

Sunsilk Book of Records Malaysia

And finally, did you know that Sunsilk got themselves into the Malaysia Book of Records by having over 3,000 heads conditioned in 12 hours last week? Were you one of those who got free conditioning last weekend? 😀

I’m going for a bit of a spin this weekend. Ah the pleasure of driving… I’d forgotten how fun it can be to drive a car 😀

Enjoy the weekend and watch out for ghouls tonight! 🙂

      Hey Eliza

I think that brush was a special exclusive product but yeah all that bling! The Guerlain Rouge G is metal and I’m not sure if they engrave – they used to engrave the KissKiss lipsticks

      Hi Jean

Guerlain is a luxury brand which is located in just a few areas – Parkson Pavilion, KLCC, Isetan Gardens are a few I know of. The Meteorites powder isn’t a blush – its a highlighting powder – similar to this one I’ve previously reviewed 🙂

    Hi Paris..

Thanks for your review on Guerlain. It reminds me of my precious Jill Stuart’s cosmetic packaging 😛

How much is Guerlain’s Rouge G Lippie? Very IT savvy packaging 😛 Err.. a lippie pendrive? LOL

Hope to see more Christmas/Holiday 2009 cosmetic collections here 😉

Enjoy your spin this weekend! Have fun kawaii Paris! 😛 Weeee weeeet 😛

      Hey AnT

I love Guerlain even if its always way out of budget – their lippies are AMAZING! I still haven’t tried Jill Stuart – somehow never found the gall to pay for it 😛 The Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick is about RM158. Some Christmas 2009 collection will be showcased as and when I get info on them 😀 Thanks!

Just popped by Smashbox Pavilion to pick up the HD foundation (RM 146). Primer is about RM 139 I think (just took a peek as I already had one). HALO is RM 228 ouch~ didn’t get to grate it as some powder were already in it :p

A very nice SA is there, goes by the name Ling

      Hi Synical

The Smashbox counter is opposite the back of Benefit Cosmetics, between Estee Lauder and La Mer. Its back to back with Kose I believe.

Glad to be of help! Hehe… Smashbox as a brand never really grabbed me but I’m glad you’re liking it 🙂 Prices on Strawberrynet are quite comparable but there’s a better selection at the counter of course 😉

    Hi ParisB
Just wondering if you have any idea how much does the SmashBox’s Primer cost in Malaysia? I am in Singapore now and am going to Malaysia very soon. Am not sure if the price in Malaysia would be cheaper than those in Sephora, Singapore. Any ideas?

    Thanks heaps.

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪

Excellent good fun! 😆 Your eyes always want more than your stomach can handle. Ate a lot and bought even more food back home. Diet? What diet? 😂

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
