Follow Me Oil Control Range of Products and Photo Contest

October 30, 2009 Paris B 5 Comments

Note: New Posts below this one 🙂

If you’re in the market for something to control your oily skin, and have a small budget to consider, you might have come across the Follow Me range of products in the pharmacies or supermarkets. I grew up with Follow Me but had never used it – I’d always thought it came in from Japan. In fact I’ve learnt that its formulated in Japan but made in Malaysia, hence the reasonable pricing. Fascinating what you learn from the internet 😛

Here’s a brief overview of the products in the Follow Me Oil Control + Whitening range as based on my experience after 1 week of use. This range is suitable for all skin type, but is especially targeted for those with oily skin or those who lead active lifestyles and need oil control skincare

Follow Me Oil Control + Whitening Anti-Shine Cleanser

It’s a face wash! What can I say? 😛 Ok, it lathers up well and cleans my skin well, leaving it feeling a little too squeaky clean for comfort. There is a slight cooling feel and a distant scent of tea tree oil. However since its meant to control oil, it means that it works a little harder in that regard to make sure your skin is properly clean. Not sure about the whitening as I did not use it long enough.

Follow Me Oil Control + Whitening Purifying Toner

It feels light and a little tight when I wipe on with cotton. My T-zone which is oilier than the rest of my face does feel more matte so if you have combination skin, perhaps just concentrate on the T-zone or oily areas of your face or you might find it too drying.

Follow Me Oil Control + Whitening Mattifying Moisturiser

Since I do not have very oily skin I’d of course find that this moisturizer does not quite hit the spot. For the oily areas of my face, it does hold off the oil and keeps skin feeling and looking matte for longer. For the non oily parts of my face, I top up with an essence or serum or another moisturizer so my skin does not feel so tight. If you have oily skin overall, this might be useful for you. Again, I’m not sure about the whitening effects, not having used it long enough.

Follow Me Oil Control + Whitening Blackhead Remover

This is a fascinating product that actually works to a degree. Do not expect miracles – I say that of every product. I use it on congested areas of my face which for now is my nose and chin and those are the areas recommended on the pack too.

Its a gel texture that you apply on a dry face and I find it balling up as you rub at it. It cleans the area with a cooling feel on the skin. Very interesting! I don’t know if the balling up of the gel helps remove blackheads but my skin feels a little smoother after using it. You are only recommended to use it twice a week.

If this means no more need for painful extractions, I’ll be sold! I’d expect to see better results after at least 2-3 weeks.

Follow Me Oil Control + Whitening Spotless Pimple Gel

When you need to try this and miraculously have no pimples, its mind boggling what you should do with it 😛 Anyway, I applied it on a stubborn spot that isn’t quite a pimple and I liked the cool feel the gel imparts on the skin. It is a little drying, but then that’s how most pimple gels work – they dry up the pimple!

Think the blackhead remover is something like Ginvera’s Marvel Gel.
