Bloop de Paris Love Series lipstick recently won the Cleo Beauty Hall of Fame 2009 for Best Cream Lipstick (Cleo mag Sept 09 issue). Quite a bit of a surprise really, since its a relatively lesser known brand that’s not widely distributed.
I had to see if it lived up to the claim of it being rich and creamy and providing intense hydration to keep lips plump and youthful as touted in the Cleo blurb. I found that it delivered on some accounts but did not deliver on other accounts.
The lipstick is of the slim variety weighing in at a mere 2.2g and comes in a slim tube. Slim tubes make good travel partners because they aren’t bulky so that’s good.
Texture-wise, the lipstick lives up to being rich and creamy. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at just how creamy and pigmented it went on my lips. Just one swipe and you get a rich intense colour that looks just like it does in the tube. You can’t even get that from some high end lipsticks.
In the swatch above, the lipstick was applied just once. Thats how rich and pigmented it goes on! You might have to be careful when dealing with dark shades like #06. I do wish they’d give these lipsticks names – numbers are so hard to remember. If I were to name this, I’d probably call it Cherry Kirsch because it reminds me of a deep colored morello cherry 😀 Remember, if you see the name on the lippie, you saw it here first 😛
I however have some beef with it offering hydration. Unfortunately I did not experience the “intense hydration” stated in the Cleo award. My lips did not dry out to a wrinkled prune but neither were they plumped up.
The lipstick does last a good time despite the creaminess and lasted me till lunch through coffee and water. That’s pretty good by my book.
So I like the colour – its vampy and mysterious – perfect for jazzing up a boring office look ha! and I like the texture. I also like the price – RM28 a lipstick. Double ha!
Bloop de Paris lipsticks can be found at their standalone counter at Sunway Pyramid, KLIA, Jusco, Parkson, Sasa or anywhere else you can find Bloop de Paris – damn! They are elusive!
Pros: Rich Creamy Colour, Strong pigmented colours, Affordable price, Long lasting and does not dry lips
Cons: Not hydrating, Hard to find a Bloop de Paris counter
I couldn’t help laughing at some of the reactions to my post yesterday. Clearly, Crocs clogs ARE the most reviled of footwear! 😀 Ultimately though, it wasn’t quite about Crocs and I’m happy there was a small minority who saw that and responded accordingly 🙂
Stay beautiful,

It really looks like a nice, pigmented color! I’ve been wearing my Clinique’s RSVPink lipstick for the past few weeks, and found that I need to reapply every few hours… :'( or maybe it’s because I put on lip balm underneath?

I love the colors on your lips!
I think it is a color that goes really well with your skin tone 🙂
I however have a rather sun tanned skin color (as I am exposed to the sun alot)
do you think it will look the same on sun tanned skin?
I found bloop selling in a new mall near my area Wangsa Walk, very nice range I must agree with you I’ve actually started using it and it does live up to some of the hype

Hi Eunice
Thank you. I’m sure it’ll look good on tanned skin too – it’ll give a nice berry colour on the lips. Perhaps you can test it at the counter and see if you like the colour?

I was introduced to Bloop de Paris at Scentiments in Green Heights Mall, Kuching last year. Their customer service was excellent and the girls there are very professional. According to them, Bloop is also available in Miri and Bintulu and some Everrise stores. They also sell a number of high-end perfume brands like Burberry and Armani. Love the place.
