Review : Biotherm Skin Vivo Reversive Anti Aging Lotion and Fundamental Cream

September 3, 2009 Paris B 14 Comments

First off, call me a sceptic but I find it hard to buy into the whole DNA-gene thing sorry Biotherm and Lancome! So, what I will tell you is how the new Biotherm Skin Vivo skin care range feels on my skin. I treat it as I do anti-aging skin care so I will tell you if it plumps up my skin and make it look better but I can’t tell you what happens on a cellular level – I’m not Supergirl with X-ray eyes 🙂

Biotherm Skin Vivo Reversive Anti-aging Lotion – RM140/50ml

biotherm skin vivo lotion

Although conventionally used as a toner, this is not quite a toner but a lotion. The texture is thin and watery like a toner and there is a pleasent smell of baby powder. I like the frosted glass bottle it comes in – it looks like a bottle of premier water or wine!

I wipe it on my face after cleansing and it leaves my skin feeling soft. However, if I let it dry, my skin then feels a little dry which leads me to believe its the alcohol at work.

I feel the alcohol content in this toner is quite high so although it leaves my skin feeling soft, I can smell the sharp alcohol smell under the powdery baby scent and that does not endear it to me much. The Fundamental Cream however is lovely!

Pros: Nice packaging, skin feels soft

Cons: High alcohol content

Biotherm Skin Vivo Fundamental Cream – RM240/50ml

Now this one… this one I like! 😀 The jar it comes in is a cute round shape and the frosted glass with a sheen gives it a luxurious look. I’m reminded of an egg! The silver cap is rather incongrously small which can make it hard to open if your hands are slippery with lotion.

The cream itself has a very light gel-cream texture with the Skin Vivo baby powder scent. Its less pervasive than you might expect really and can be pleasant. Because the texture is so light, it feels comfortable on my skin for day use but when used at night it does not feel dry. Quite a one-size fits all 🙂

I scoop a dollop onto the palm of my hands and spread it out on my palms before applying to my face. I do find that there does not seem to be much on my hands but its quite enough to to keep my skin soft and moisturized. I don’t want to put too much on my skin because from experience, using too much moisturizer can cause breakouts even if its not a skin irritant.

After a month of use day and night, I feel that my skin feels a little tauter and firmer. Not only that, it feels a little softer and more velvety too.

Pros: Skin feels firmer and soft, Light gel-cream texture is suitable for day use

Cons: Jar packaging is a little bulky and heavy

Does Biotherm Skin Vivo work?

I haven’t given Biotherm a lot of love recently but Skin Vivo works for me – no breakouts, no dry skin and just a whole lotta lovin’! If I re-purchase one item, it would be the Fundamental Cream because I like the light texture and how my skin feels. I reckon the Anti-aging Reversive Serum Tensor might be good too but then I have a whole bottle of Genifique to go through still so that would have to wait 🙂

Biotherm Skin Vivo skin care range will be available at all Biotherm counters. Go check it out and let me know what you think of it! 🙂

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

Strangely for me, Biotherm’s aqua source (something) moisturiser is starting to work very well now that the weather is warmer and I’m using less heating and hot water showers. It moisturises well without being sticky but the one fault I find with it is that it’s very heavily-fragranced. It put me off initially because I don’t like unnecessary elements in my skincare but it didn’t break me out and I’m considering buying a full jar when this 50g sample jar finishes. Yes, the sample was really generous 🙂

      Hey Geekchic

Glad you’re liking that one. Perhaps I should give the light version a shot since it was the dry skin one that broke me out

Hi! I am one of your recent followers here =) Love your blogs about skincare.

I had recently bought a whole range of bioterm aquasource set as they are having promotion now at mid valley. They gave me this Skin Vivo sample and few others. I am only 23 this year, can i use this product? My mom is not interested in it and it really seems so wasteful to put it away like that. Its 15ml ! Haha.

I don’t use the serum so I can’t comment on it – perhaps take it back to the store if you don’t feel comfortable with it.

The prices are as listed in the post. If there is a new cream I’m not sure of the price.

My aunt from the US is coming to visit us and I’m thinking about asking her to buy for me this cream moisturizer from Biotherm Vivo since they are having special size for cheaper price. However, I wonder if the cream is parabens free like the new ones in pink and green they recently launched?

Not sure about the parabens. Best to check with the counter.
