When I was growing up and wearing glasses an inch thick, coloured contact lenses were as unattainable as blonde hair – they just did not make coloured lenses with power that high and besides, Dad would have a fit if I wanted them 😛 I tried a green pair once a few years ago, out of curiosity – I’d always wanted green eyes… and red hair 😛 I’ve done the hair too but not together 😛
Fast forward to the present day, and we now have coloured contact lenses that are disposable! Freshlook one day color contact lenses – how cool is that? I can have blue eyes one day, green the next, hazel the day after and grey to end the week 😀
I’ve had Lasik done on my eyes so I find it a little uncomfortable to wear contact lenses these days although these felt quite comfy – I did remove them before day end though. I guess I’m not the best person to judge the comfort level of these Freshlook lenses, but I persevered just to try to shock people with the different colors 🙂
Sadly because mine were the dailies, and thus more subtly coloured, other than a cursory glance, I did not get much of a comment from anyone. 😛
You can see for yourself above – the blue is quite subtle but it does make your eyes look bigger as your iris looks larger and more defined – same effect as the big eye lens without the scary Ju-On look 😛
I decided to try to highlight the blue-ness of my eyes, hoping that someone would notice 😛
To highlight blue eyes – or how to make blue eyes pop!
Now ladies, we want blue eyes to “pop” not “pop out” so be careful with terminology 😉 To emphasize my new blue eyes, I wore a blue dress and applied shades of blue on my eyelids. The effect was still rather subtle overall. Perhaps that’s what Freshlook is going for – a subtle change of colour, as opposed to dramatic dresden dolly blue eyes.
The eyeshadow is the Lancome Color Focus Quad #311 – its a gorgeous palette. Try to get your hands on it! 😉 Someone did spare me a look as I sat at a busy eating place so perhaps it did work. Or maybe its just that few girls walk around with blue eyeshadow in the day 😛 Still, you can’t quite pick up the blue in the picture above – its subtle. I’m going to try Green next.
So these days, we not only can play with eyeshadow colour, we can even change the colour of our eyes. However, I might get the more striking lenses next time – the new ones come in brilliant shades of Gemstone Green, Brilliant Blue and Sterling Gray and I’ve seen them worn – they stand out a mile! 😀
A box of 10 Freshlook Dailies colour contact lenses retail for about RM49 a box at most opticians and come with power for those who are short sighted. Mine were 0 power as I no longer use contacts nor glasses after lasik 🙂
Have you tried wearing colour contact lenses? Do you prefer a colour that stands out or something more subtle? I’m happy with subtle for everyday but I’d rather wear something more dramatic for oomph!
And did anyone sing along with me to the Country song “Don’t It Make my Brown Eyes Blue” by Crystal Gayle? (Audio only below)
Yeah… I’m a little bit country a little bit rock and roll 😉
Stay beautiful,

I’d love to try them! Grey colour would be fascinating, I reckon 🙂 I’m blind as a bat as usual, so it might be a bit harder to get them in my power but I think you look great 🙂
ParisB says
Hey Geekchic
I think they go up quite high powered these days – even with astigmatism! Check with your optician? 😉 Thanks

you know I’m all about the colored contacts! I wore the blue Freshlook lenses to Lisa’s wedding. Did you notice? Lol! They’re were that subtle! I think you’ll really like the Hazel and Grey ones. they look “natural”. Love those two colors the best.
ParisB says
Hey Connie
I did notice you were wearing lenses but I didn’t notice they were blue. Yeah super subtle. I’m waiting to try the green one to see if its any better. I already have brown eyes – no point wearing lenses that dont’ make an impact eh? haha
Kahani says
me me I sang! I love this song. But yeah these are SUBTLE.
ParisB says
Hiya Kahani
Yay someone who could sing a long! I love this song too – I once had it on auto repeat for an hour!

I’ve always wanted to try colored lenses but I’m a bit scared to get eye allergies because my eyes are quite sensitive..so I’ll say yes to health rather than beauty! LOL your FOTD is so pretty fresh looking and gorgeous!
ParisB says
Hey Nikki
If you use the disposables there is less risk of infection because you always use a new one every time. Also, if you use clean hands to put them in, you should be alright too. You should give it a shot – I think you’d look amazing! And thanks for the compliment 😀
Jamilla Camel says
Those lenses look very nice on you…subtle!
I can’t wear coloured lenses anymore, because I need…VARIFOCAL contacts, which only come in clear!
ParisB says
Hi Jamilla
Yeah they are subtle indeed but I prefer something bright 😛 I didn’t know they made varifocal contact lenses!
Tine says
You look great! It actually looks natural, which is very good. I’m going to get a box of this just to try out when I’m back. Just for special occasions 😉
ParisB says
Hey Tine
Funnily enough I”d prefer that it stand out but yes, its very good for those who prefer something more natural – can’t wait to see your look when you get this!

ParisB says
Hi Beetrice
Count yourself lucky you don’t know how – it means you don’t wear nor need glasses!

I recently got a pair of Geo lenses in green for the fun of it. I’m not a regular contact lens user neither do I need glasses so it needed quite a bit of getting used to on my part but I do love how they add a little extra ‘oomph’ to my look 🙂
Aww, I think these Freshlook ones are too subtle for my taste. Do take pictures if you happen try others colours 😀 It looks nice on you!
ParisB says
Hi Hasegawa
Thank you! I think these are a bit too subtle for me too. But we’ll see how the other colours fare 🙂
Jean says
I wore the black big eyes contact lens before too..really got a bit of Ju-on effect.. but I still like it..XD
ParisB says
Hi Jean

I’m actually a coloured contact lens convert now 😀 I have 4 pairs- purple, green, brown and blue. I’m not a fan of FreshKon coloured contacts, because I tried the daily disposable ones before in blue and it was disappointing- I had trouble taking them out (Small eyes), they hurt after a few hours (Sensitive eyes) and the colour didn’t really show up. I’m using Blincon, a Korean brand recommended by my opthamologist, and they’re good. Been using them for about 3 months now.
Grey doesn’t suit everyone. I’ve had a friend who wore grey, and he looked like he got some sort of pigmentation disease 😡
Hwee Ling says
Yeah! I am using Blincon too! It’s really nice and it’s very comfortable compare to the other brands.
And it’s three months, the price is super affordable!
I just bought two boxes at A-Look Timesquare yesterday, they are having promo now. One box RM70, two boxes RM100 🙂
I love their grey lens!

I have Freshlook Colorblends in Blue (monthlies) now too… in fact I’m wearing them as I type. The color’s definitely a lot more intense than the dailies, even without make up, the blue is vivid but not to the point of scaring people. It’s actually flattering! I’m thinking of hazel next – it should be quite natural looking.
Farah says
They look really good on you. Are you brown eyes quite light to begin with? Mine are not that light but not too dark and they make my gray contacts look blue! Funny thing.. 🙂 I’m wearing Eurosoft from SimVue but I cannot seem to find these anywhere else other than where I got them. Weird…
