I missed my monthly facial yesterday! š It was due to work and the fact I could not make it back to the city in time for it in the evening. I was so looking forward to it too since it was a long day. That said, I quite enjoyed āGhosts of Girlfriends Pastā last night ā It is mindless and a little draggy in parts; a little funny in parts; a little touching but overall just a decent chick flick.
But on the subject of facials, we didnāt seem to find many good affordable places for facials in Melbourne last I asked. So lets try taking it a little closer to home.
Abby left a comment on the post as follows:-
Speaking about facials, I am wondering about the good ones in KL/PJ. Besides Clarins, Kanebo and Lancome. I am sure there are others. I hope others will share their knowledge too.
Sorry i have never been to Melbourne thus don’t know any. But it is good to know for when i go there!
We all know I love facials and Iām truly picky about my facial places. I have some places I go to regularly or which I have tried and liked.
So far, the ones I enjoy going to are:-
- Lancome Beauty Institute ā Bangsar Village II
- Kanebo International Salon (my regular salon)
- Clarins Institute ā KLCC
- 128 Faubourg ā Bangsar Village II
Ok, I know they are a little on the swanky side but facials are a luxury for me and a chance for some good quality āme timeā and āsleep timeā š The salons might be swanky but I however tend to go for āpromotional rateā facials ā rarely do I pay the full price becauseā¦ Iām tightfisted thats why! š
I havenāt gone to other salons but perhaps you might and have one to recommend?
Where can we find good and affordable facial salons in Kuala Lumpur / Petaling Jaya / Sunway? Why do you like going there?
Fire away facial afficionados!
Stay beautiful,
Paris B

I rarely go for facials anymore, but when I do I go to Disseta at One Utama. Itās a nice relaxing experience =) It is slightly pricey but I think they have promotions most of the time =)
Do check it out if youāre in the area!

My usual facial salon is River Beauty located at BB Plaza, 3rd Floor. My sister stumbled upon this salon many years back when she had a breakout and even the salons in Singapore could not help. Since she loves and enjoys shopping into details, she went for around Sg Wang Plaza and BB Plaza and found it. There are many others around there, but it was a very good find. They use Darphin and Decleor products and the owners donāt push us to buy any products. There is one miracle product from Taiwan ā Repairing Lotion from Panco. Really works for problem/sensitive skin, better than Cellnique.

Hi Celine,
I read quite a number of good reviews about River Beauty Salonā¦How much is their range of facial, any idea? I am not interested to purchase facial packagesā¦but I would love to find a reliable beauty salon where I can try out their facial and try out the much talked about Decleor productsā¦:)

Iām going to try out River Beauty todayā¦hopefully itāll go well. I always get nervous before I go for facials because Iām afraid Iāll come out looking like a monster.
B says
I went in for the facial, and was really surprised when i got out. No puffiness or redness, felt smooth and looked glowy. They did try to push me to buy some products though. Was very tempted to buy the Panco productā¦quite pricey though.
They gave me Dauphin samples and I have to say, the products work very well!
I recommend this place thoroughly! Note: Facial is not that cheap at RM150 each

Budget constraints have lead me to do home spas and facials. But when I do decide to give myself a treat I go here:
Beautāe Fest Salon

The lady who runs it, Kak Fatimah, is one of the best Iāve had. Her touch is very light and relaxing but boy, do her massages feel good! She really knows how to work out the kinks in your bones.
I like the fact that she uses Thalgo products as well which work well with my sensative skin. Her charges are not as high as you might aspect. It all depends on which package you are taking. I do one for oily sensative skin with a peel off mask and itās about RM150-180. I like how she does my eyebrows ^^

EPI Derma Formulation. they are a Sdn Bhd, and have plenty of branches. google their website for locations! iām not one who trusts facial centers easily but so far my progress with them is amazing. they do not squeeze zits and blackheads, they tweeze those suckers out. instead. which means less pain and no infections or bloody messes!
price range can be a bit pricey and similar to branded ones like Lancome etc, but well worth it.
girls are pushy as usual, but my skin condition was so terrible at that time, i just bought their stuff and never looked back! however, their products did what they claimed, which surprised me. finally found a salon that doesnāt bullshit people.they WORK! š
still having ongoing treatments though, acne is not something you can treat overnight so you must invest time and money with the salonā¦ thatās why you must choose wiselyā¦ will update more about this salon when iāve got decent pics and a good writeup. š

how ironic.. i just got home from getting a facial done.. i usually get mine done at Holistic Aesthetics centre in Bangsar, Jalan Bankung. they also have one in Solaris, near hartamas but from what i heard its more expensive there. They use Sothyās products. It costs around 150 to 180 for a double mask and ampoule facial. takes bout an hour and a half.

Hey PB,
Thanks for putting up my question! Seems like there arenāt many other good places. Most of the ones posted here are pretty far. Looks like it really pays to stick to the more established ones.
ParisB says
Hi Abby
Yep! I was surprised LOLā¦ I personally prefer to stick to those I know too š
abby says
Hey PB,
Got another question. This time itās for you. You seem to only go to salons in Bangsar and KL. Iām guessing you live near those areas? But how are the salons say, Lancome or Faubourg that are not in Bangsar Village. There is another Lancome at the Curve and Faubourg at 1Utama. Have you been to those? And Clarins is also at 1Utama. Just wondering if the standard is different?
Thanks!
ParisB says
Hi Abby
Youāre absolutely right. I live and work in KL so I go to the salons closest to where I live/work. I honestly cannot say how the salons at 1Utama or the Curve are. I might try them out some time but they are so far away! Perhaps someone who has tried the services at those outlets can let us know they like it. Personally I donāt think it should be any different but then since its a personal service, its hard to say. Letās hope someone will help us both out with our curiousity š

Hey Celine,
Do they sell the Repairing Lotion from Panco.? Ive been using the product, it work wonders. But somehow I couldnt find it anymore since my friend stop taking orders from Panco.
Looking foward to your reply.

Mimi, if youāre around PJ area, check out Image Beauty Salon at Atria Damansara (itās on the 1st floor, take the escalator at KFC and walk straight ahead after Victoria Music Station). Shirley, the owner, sells Thalgo and Panco products.
pumpkeens says
Am actually waiting for my mask to dry at D Image as I write. Shirleyās very good with problem skin, especially acne. Her extraction is fine and she is very thorough. Sheās not pushy with products and has the whole Panco range. Sheās been doing this for the longest time and says Pancoās the best for acne

Would just like to ask.. is it better to go for stand-alone facials (as in per visit) or to go for pre-paid facials (bought as a set)?
This part is still hazy in my mind- as in how would the customer know if a salonās policy where the staff would not ask the customer to ātop-upā..
there is this sothys-partner salon near my home, and they have proposed a good package to me, but I am not sure if they will ask me to top-up the next round i go there? Thatās what i do not like about pre-pay facials.
Chris says
i rather go to the bio zent salon at cheras taman segar, they are more personalise caring. which is the big slon canāt provide.

beauty desperado says
hi marya, you can get Panco product from Angie at Inner Sense (03-78048608). My sister and I were doubtful about Panco at first but after using the repairing lotionā¦ viola! smooth as tofuā¦ but kinda priceyā¦ but worth it!

Hiay,
If you ever near the Gombak area and want a super facial, I would recommend this shop to you. I personally think all facial work the same until someone recommend me to try this shop.
I have oil particles near my eyes area, black and white head around nose area and worst still with thick and rough face. Every time after menstrual, I would have an oily and yet more blackhead and serious pimples around the face.
The first time this Lady Boss help me to clean, squeeze out the black and white head. She took about 2 hours. My staff and husband reliase a different on my face immediately, and I was suprise that my skin feel smoother when I touch them, few days later I went for facial again and it took another 2 hours. Then the lady boss told me to come by every once a week for the thorought cleaning.
Every time after the facial, my staff and husband and even my 3 children realise the changes on my face and forehead and i would like to share with all of you who face and feel needing a facial would try on her service. She is very modern and energetic lady boss. And she work at two places, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur and Shenzhen, China.
P/s : Plz call her at the mid of May 2011 as she is currently in Shenzhen, China. I miss her very much and she didnāt use any chemical cleaning agent but specially made mung bean on my face.
You can sms her for appointment or call her in the mid of May at 019-3113396 Catherine Low
