After watching the Coach emails in my mailbox over the past few days, the new Coach Poppy collection has finally been unveiled. I’d been curious about the Coach Poppy Bags – the last time Coach had a Poppy collection they put applique of poppy flowers on the bag – it was quite sweet.
This time, Poppy is the name of the line but I see no poppies. Instead what I see is a riot of colour. The fabric in the top right design appears to be the signature fabric of the Coach Poppy Collection.
The Coach Poppy collection looks to me to be more at home on London’s Carnaby Street than in New York – its got that quirky feel of fashion that I associate with London. Its bright and shiny and young – an image I feel Coach is trying hard to cultivate.
You can view the Coach Poppy Collection at Coach online. I don’t quite know how I feel about this one.
How about you? Hit or Miss?
Stay beautiful,
Paris B

I’ve only got one other word: Meh.
The bags look like something you see a lot of in la la places like Berjaya Times Square or Sungei Wang. Or at least the people they might appeal to.
ParisB says
Hey Synical
LOL!!! I guess Meh’s a miss then 😉

I think the design is too 80s for me, I’m more into classic and elegant styles. Though I do like a bit of quirkiness in my wardrobe, the Poppy collection is a little over the top for me. I sorta like the solid grey ones though, but that’s only cos I have a thing for grey handbags.
ParisB says
Hey innerchild
I thought it was more 70’s – taking the retro hippychick look just a little bit too far 🙂

erm… :-/
creative, but sooooooo NOT Coach-ish. even me who doesn’t like the monogram, i’d consider that rather than these. i like the gold trim of the second handbag though. but definitely not the print. it looks wrong! >.<
ParisB says
Hi Yahui
Yeah. Makes me wonder what Coach was thinking when they came out with these.
Tine says
I wanted to cry when I saw those Coach bags. It’s wrong, just wrong. Too tacky for my taste. Give me classic Coach anytime 🙂
ParisB says
Hey Tine
Classic anything! Its really sad to see this happen.
Shay says
Looks like pasar malem style.
ParisB says
Hi Shay
LOL… maybe we’ll see this at Petaling St. faster than they can churn it out!

I was really disappointed when I saw these bags. Most of them look so cheap and tacky!
ParisB says
Hi Gio
You echo my sentiments exactly
Lydia says
They look cheap
ParisB says
Hi Lydia
I read they were meant to be cheaper but they didn’t have to make it look that way eh?

When I check out the Poppy Bags designs from Coach Online, there are a few that I might actually like and if I have the budget for handbags costing few thousands ringgit I think I will buy them. (But I don’t have that kinda budget, so it’s another story). However I find my picks stick to those less poppy, less colors i.e. Poppy Op Art Glam and Poppy Sig Sateen Spotlight Shoulder.
ParisB says
Hi Sylvia
Yeah I guess the plainer ones don’t look all that bad – its just the coloured ones. Pity huh?
Balwinder says
Yuck! Look so ah-so.
I have never liked Coach bags – they seem to ride on their name and nothing else but the name.
geekchic says
MISS! MISS! MISS! Eww. What got into their heads?!
Amanda says
I kinda like OP ART GLAM, they’re not colourful and pretty simple designs. All my Coach bags are classic, either dark/light brown or black. I say NO to colourful bags… I think they’re ‘ugh’.

This collection is fun, colorful, and glamorous. I love the fact that Coach made something new and different. Young girls everywhere are buying them and they look GREAT. I’m buying one next week and I can’t wait. ( : Thank you Coach!

?I agree! I just found one in my buildings donation bin? (the cream with mustard yellow accents boho bag exactly like the one in the photo above??). I love it! I miss the poppy collection, simply because they make me happy. I understand quality may be a bit lower on this collection, but with the recession in 2008 just before this collection came out it was nice to have something happy in the world of fashion that was affordable… At least in Canada !
I was so happy when someone donated the poppy purse, I cleaned it up and now it’s like new.
And personally I feel like the poppy collection is similar to late 60s, early 70s. Very colourful, or muted colours. These purses are made to make you happy! One of my favourite collections, as it made me feel happy. The current collection coach has with their new designer is tiring and depressing; at least for me. I need more POP(py) in my life ?
