Day 22 : Clinique Buttershine Lipstick – Berry Blush

June 22, 2009 Paris B 11 Comments

Day 22 of the 30 lipsticks in 30 days project features Clinique Butter Shine lipsticks, one of the few cosmetics from Clinique I like.

Clinique Butter Shine lipstick – Berry Blush

Clinique Buttershine Berry Blush

The first thing I love about Clinique Buttershine lipsticks is the case. I love the whole bamboo effect of the case and the metallic effect and heft which makes it feel and look more expensive than it really is.

The texture of this lipstick is like that of a gloss – shiny and sheer which I’m fine with. Some days you want strong pigmented colour and other days you want sheer barely there colour and shine. If you leave it in the heat too long, it melts a little. I learnt it the hard way when I left it in my car in the sun one day. Oops!

The colour Berry Blush is a dark berry shade in the tube but when applied, is a barely there berry tint. It disappears quickly and I have to reapply but I’m again fine with that. I like that there’s no scent and that its glossy on my lips. I felt it was moisturizing but I have read of people saying its drying so your experience may be different.

I liked another colour in this line called Watermelon I believe but I never got round to getting it. Maybe the next time Clinique has promotional offers 🙂

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

Thanks for the review, Berry Blush looks nice on you 🙂 The Clinique Buttershine Lipsticks are highly rated on Cosme.net (review board in Japan), so I’m interested to try. The color selection is very limited imo, they’re mostly roses and pinks, no beige-based colors. I want something more coral and warm for the summertime.

      Hiya Innerchild

I really like Clinique Buttershine lippies but there are many who don’t like it too. Its true the colours do tend towards the reds and pinks but if I recall correctly, there’s a nudish shade that everyone loved – can’t remember the name though 🙁

      Hi Gio

I think Buttershines came out at the time when Clinique was running some bamboo theme. I hope they don’t do away with it!
