I spy with my Pink little eye…

May 4, 2009 Paris B 13 Comments

I mentioned previously that I was taken in by the sales assistants in Shu Uemura who were promoting the Shu Uemura Pink Collection by wearing pink and black on their eyes. So, when I had the chance, I decided to experiment.

The colours I used were just 3 – Milani Storm (shimmery black) and the light pink and fuchsia from the Clarins Audacious/ So Sublime quad. You don’t have to use these so long as you can get your hands on a black, light shimmery pink and fuchsia eyeshadow.

Again, this is not a tutorial by any means, just my version of a pink and black eye of the day. I was pleased not to look like I was punched in the eyes or spent the night crying my eyes out. I wore it to work – and had a surprise meeting sprung on me! – but most people I deal with are used to my eccentricities 🙂 It would be much better worn at night – smokier and sexier 😉

Anyway, here’s what the completed look looks like and how I did it.

  • Apply black eyeshadow close to lash line and blend it upwards and outwards
  • Apply fuchsia eyeshadow in crease and outer 2/3 of the eye and blend it into the black
  • Apply light shimmery pink on inner corners and on brow bone
  • Blend! Blend! Blend!
  • Line lower lash with black eyeshadow and smoke out with the light pink

That’s it. Did I pass? 🙂

Its  a little bit more intense in person – the lighting washed the colours out a little. Keep the rest of the face light to avoid the drag queen look. I went for Benefit Dandelion on the cheeks and a very light Rimmel lipstick.

I did learn from this experiment that I need to find a darker black eyeshadow with more prominent shimmer. Milani Storm is a sheer crumbly black and the shimmer disappears. Can anyone recommend a dark black powder eyeshadow with shimmer?

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

You definitely passed! 😀 I love the look, very rock and roll!

My favorite color combo is pink and black (which you can probably tell from my site haha) so it’s weird I never thought of this. Also, I have never tried on pink eyeshadow before … will def look out for some shades that may suit me.

      Hi Lisa

Is there a particular color name? I’m not a MAC fan but I could take a look if I need to hehe…
