Upcoming: Lancome Maquiliquide UV Perfect Infinite Everlasting Liquid Foundation SPF20 PA++

April 29, 2009 Paris B 21 Comments

Hot on the heels of I Nuovi’s Gelbase foundation comes yet another light sheer foundation to tempt me into the realms of liquid foundation. I swear I’ve never been exposed to as much liquid foundation as I have been in these 2 months and you know what? I’m learning that I can wear liquid foundation!

But I need ones that are very light with sheer coverage.

Lancome has one making an appearance at counters soon that might be worth taking a look at if:-

a) You have oily skin
b) You like light formula in liquid foundation
c) You don’t mind sheer coverage

Already available in Japan and possibly Taiwan, the Lancome Maquiliquide UV Perfect Everlasting Liquid Foundation is a very light textured water based liquid foundation with quite sheer coverage and SPF20 PA++.

I recently tried it and I liked how it felt for the few hours I wore it. No masky feel! Yay! I saw from the packaging and labels that there is a lot of Japanese writing on it which tells me that it might be targeted at the Asian market. I’m not quite sure also but it might be exclusive to Asia. This is also borne out by the fact that the color selection is quite limited and tending towards the lighter end of the spectrum.

Here are some color swatches I managed to take  – pardon the poor lighting – they are rough estimates of the shades available and you can see how sheer it is on my skin – imperfections are not covered much. I like it though – I don’t like thick foundations.

I was color matched to O-02. I realized that the naming system follows the Japanese style so BO – Beige Ochre (yellow tones), O-Ochre (neutral) and PO-Pink Ochre (pink tones). For reference O-02 is really quite quite light. I could wear BO-02 as well but there is obvious yellow tone which could make me look like a jaundiced monster 😛

The coverage is sheer as I said, but if you dust powder over it it ups the ante a little. There is a down side – it costs RM130 a 30ml bottle. Ouchies! 🙁 I might spring for it though once it hits the counters in early May 2009, in which case you will see it being featured here … but I may get distracted by something else then I won’t get it – I’m woman, I’m fickle! 😉

Tell me: Does sheer coverage in liquid foundation put you off? Do you think that foundations should afford some coverage at least?

I like sheer coverage because it usually means the formula is lighter. Anything heavier that offers more coverage makes me feel suffocated. I do use concealer for imperfections and I’m happy with some imperfections showing e.g. pigmentation, acne scars etc – I’m not perfect and I don’t try to be 🙂

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

      Hey Serena

Sigh… one day we’ll bump into each other I’m sure! LOL… I was quite distressed too at the use of the makeup. Felt so sad painting with it! Which picture was yours?! 😀

hahaha…the weird one with just the centre painted with strange strokes of purple and green, signed my name pretty big on the left-hand corner…think it was on the left-hand right at the bottom based on the pictures i just saw..

      Hi prettybeautiful

Although my wallet protests I think its a fair price for department store foundation. Perhaps try getting a sample from the counter and then see if it’ll work before buying?

ahhh…. I love light foundations as well…lol. I hate the cakey feeling that thick foundations give me. Lancome looks good.

What kind of finish does it give? dewy? matte? semi-matte?

btw, what NC are you? lol. I sometimes use this as a guide whenever I go foundation shopping. Hate it everytime I rely totally on the SA, and somehow they’ll always reccomend me a foundation too white. =(

      Hi Magz

I only had it on for a couple of hours so from what I can tell, it was a bit of a semi-matte finish. Its supposed to be for oily skins and humid weather = us! I’m sorry I can’t tell you what NC I am as I’ve never tried a MAC foundation. One of these days I’ll go and try. Previously, I was matched to 35 or something but it was waaaay too dark – traumatic experience 😛

Hey Paris, how true is that! We’re not perfect and we don’t need to try to be.

I think sometimes I look worse if I try to hide blemishes. My makeup would look cakey as I pack it on and doing my best to further my inflammations.

And when I look at some “not so young ladies”, they look even older when they try to hide their age with makeup.

      Hi Shay

Yes its always easy to overdo the correction but many people don’t realise that and I guess when they get older they feel more need to cover up.

Haha…I think its mental. We just have to accept ourselves as we age.

But then now I think I’m trying to wear less makeup to look not too desperate to hide my face. hehee…

          Hi pf1123

I guess its hard to “let go” of our youth 😉 But less is always more I say!

You are right about trying not to be too perfect and your skin looks fake already! 🙂 That’s why makeup has to exude a certain glow still instead of a SUPER matte look. I have a client who wants me to cover up her “huge veins’ on her forehead, I told her I’m a makeup artist, not a doctor LOL 🙂

Hey actually, I got a sample of this some time back, and I have to say that it’s really good. It didn’t oxidise and make my skin 2 tones darker, PLUS it gave me a lovely glow. Must be doing something for my combo skin cos I didn’t have a shine at the end of the day either, seemed to last all day! LOVE. If I didn’t have so many foundations, I’d invest in this one already 🙂

The foundation looks good on you! But I personally prefer foundations that give coverage :-/ at least medium!

Don’t know why a liquid foundation always a big NO to me… Maybe my clumsy hands, liquid foundation always ended up blotchy, patchy and uneven on my skin… which I really don’t need

      Hi Synaesthesia

I find that using a duo fibre brush helps a lot if you have a problem with patchy foundation. It applies liquid foundation like a dream!

I’ve never been much of a liquid foundation girl either. Was introduced to Revlon’s Colourstay but found it toooo much for me, and never quite went that way again.

I’ve also tried Max Factor Colour Adapt which I liked as it was sheer, but it doesn’t last long, and you can’t really get it here. So.

I’ve heard pretty darned good raves about Lancome’s Teint Idole. A friend of mine’s run through 4 bottles. That says something. And now this. I might just be tempted to try, since I like sheerer foundations. I dont mind a bit of imperfection showing either. It looks “real” that way. =P
