How to wear green eyeshadow without looking like Kermit the frog

April 13, 2009 Paris B 38 Comments

Teehee… Kermit is green and I don’t seem to recall him ever wearing eyeshadow but hey, made ya look! 🙂 Anyway, I love green eyeshadow – ask anyone who’s known me long enough. I wear green of every hue available at any given opportunity. I get the most compliments when wearing green eyeshadow so I must be doing something right! When I want a pick me up in the middle of a long week, I wear green and last week, I was inspired by Karen‘s MAC Golden Olive pigment tutorial.

The thing is, I have MAC’s Golden Olive pigment on hand – their pigments are the only MAC products next to brushes that I like but I did not have the rest of the products Karen used. So, whats the next best thing to do? Improvise of course!

These are the products I used to create what I called the “Green Eyed Monster” look 🙂

greeneye21

The products I used were:-

  • MAC Golden Olive Pigment
  • L’oreal On the Loose powder eyeshadow in Gold Thrush
  • Bobbi Brown Sepia gel eyeliner
  • Jane EyeZing in Magic Mushroom
  • Wet n Wild Amazon Trio – only Emerald green

You don’t have to use the same products I do so long as you find similar colours or shades.

Here is what my green eyed look looked like.

greeneye

I used:-

  • MAC Golden Olive pigment all over my eyelid
  • Sepia gel liner to line
  • Magic Mushroom at the outer corners for definition
  • Emerald green mixed with Magic Mushroom to line the bottom lash
  • Gold Thrush on inner corners and brow bone

The picture on the left seems to get the colours right while the one on the right shows how it looks when the light hits i.e. gold-green. I don’t dare call this a tutorial for green eyeshadow because its not but its an easy look to duplicate which I think will suit many so give it a shot! 🙂

Do you like green eyeshadow? Are you afraid of green eyeshadow?

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

      Hi prettybeautiful

Gold and green make the perfect combination – the next thing is to work out which tone of which to pair together 🙂

      Hey Renee

Gold goes beautifully with green – try a lighter gold for the day and a brighter gold for nights 🙂

I just have to comment before I even read this post – it’s perfectly on time!

I have started wearing green eyeliner and have already gotten compliments! It looks so beautiful with brown eyes! I’ve been looking for some nice green eyeshadows to accompany the eyeliner – want to try a green smokey eye too, so thanks, right on time for me! 😛

I like green too! But I’m wearing neutrals for work coz its more professional not to be distracting. My workplace is quite formal.

So, did you get your pick me up?? 😉

Thank you! I love emerald green but its so hard to find a true emerald green that stays emerald on my lids. Most of them look too dark when I wear them.

You are absolutely right. Not every shade of green suits everyone so it takes a bit of experimentation. For me though most greens are good except the dark khaki greens.

Afraid of green e/s? Never!! 😀 I’m a big fan of green shades. I like the combination of gold and green too 🙂 These ones you have are gorgeous. Strange to say I was never a fan of MAC pigments. I’m not into pigments in general, I guess.

      Hey Amanda

Yay for green e/s! MAC pigments are one of the only items from MAC I will buy. But the newer ones don’t grab my attention as much as the older ones did. I think its the repetition.

For some reasons, I look rather odd if I apply just green eyeshadow. However, if I blend it with a hint of purple/pink, then it gives me this very soft-Spring look. Interesting & very feminine~

Perhaps you can try it out too !

Green eyeshadow is one colour that cannot stand on its own – it makes anyone look strange. I tried it with pink today as you suggested. Its pretty and very suitable for spring 🙂

I LOVE green eyeshadow!! It’s probably one of the few shades that really work on me. I’d prefer a brighter green, sorta turquoise if you will, but this works too.

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
