Chanel Lumiere Celestes Collection – Levres Scintillantes glosses

April 24, 2009 Paris B 17 Comments

Some days you are happy to prance around in your Bata flip flops but some days you want Jimmy Choos. I felt that that last weekend when I was at a loose end at Isetan. Note to self: Never find myself at a loose end. I end up spending money! 😛

Anyway, I felt like Jimmy Choos (figuratively speaking) but nothing from the various beauty brands caught my eye. Everything just sorta looked the same old same old… then I came by Chanel and my eyes fell on the Chanel Lumiere Celestes collection of Levres Scintillantes (Extreme Shine) lipglosses. They are new for Summer 2009. And damn! if I did not fall in love with them!

Chanel Lumiere Celestes Levres Scintillantes gloss

There are 8 new colours for Summer 2009 and they are some of the most shimmery lipglosses I’ve seen so far. I had a Chanel Glossimer from a while ago but I’d not tried the Levres Scintillantes shimmer ones – now I wonder why I took so long to!

I swatched a couple of the colours I thought were more interesting. The color tone is a little warm in the picture but they are approximates of the shades available.

I liked how Venus looked in the tube but on my skin it turned out a bright bubblegum pink.

Nebula is another lovely tone – a rose shade that would be lovely for everyday wear. I felt it was a little cool but I was dithering between that and Jupiter for so long! I opted for Jupiter in the end because its limited edition. I can always pick up Nebula later. 🙂

Cosmos is another Limited Edition color. It is a neutral looking brown shade I did not think suited me very much. With the shimmer and shine though, it just might. I was not swayed so that’s ok.

I liked Meteore too. Its another rosy toned lip color that I just know will suit me perfectly. Mirage was light and may be good for toned down lips that need a little shimmer and shine but again, it was not the oomph I needed just then. The other shades available in this collection are Silex and Mica.

Jupiter (limited edition) is a gorgeous bright red that I HAD to pick up. It was just my sort of shade – bright! 🙂

Chanel Lumiere Celestes Jupiter

Here’s Jupiter in a swatch and on my lips. Not one for the faint hearted! I love it though – love love love! 😀 I love it even more that there’s no scent and imparts a gorgeous shine and shimmer! I think its a little on the cool side though – just a little but it suits me fine.

In fact I am reminded of an old Chanel glossimer in Vibration and a Dior Addict lipgloss in A Relish of Berries – both are bright red and very slightly cool, both I once owned, both I can no longer find in my stash for some weird reason. I’m glad I replaced them with Jupiter! 🙂

Drops of Jupiter in her hair

Everytime I see the name Jupiter, it reminds me of Train – Drops of Jupiter

Now that shes back in the atmosphere
With drops of jupiter in her hair, hey, hey

In fact, I asked the Chanel sales assistant if they had Drops of Jupiter! *cringes with embarrassment* They did not of course and I then felt obliged to buy Jupiter for RM84 LOL…

Have a lovely weekend everyone. I’m meeting up with some friends this weekend and it promises to be fun and filled with beauty chatter. How are you spending your weekend? Checking out Chanel perhaps? 😉

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

    Hi!

How’s the texture of the gloss? sticky? or non sticky? i can’t stand sticky glosses..it feels gross to have hair stuck on your lips when the wind blows.hahha

      Hi Justine

Its a little sticky since its a gloss but not crazy thick and goopy and sticky like other glosses. I don’t like thick glosses too but I like these.

When I saw the swatch on your hands I thought Jupiter was too red and unwearable. But it does look nice on you. Kinda gives out the Snow White effect.

      Hi Sherbet

Thank you! Jupiter is red but can be sheered out a little.

I saw them at the Chanel counter in Parkson Pavilion today. But didn’t check it out. But I might check out the Jupiter tomorrow. But I did swatches of the new Estee Lauder cream shadows. Coming up in my blog.

I have yet to do a FOTD with my Jupiter and now I think I shouldn’t and don’t need to as you look way gorgeous with red!

I wear red way better than me as you are very fair. I always think red works best with fair skin tones.

That’s so super you! and 84MYR well spent. 🙂

Now maybe I will give my Jupiter and Cosmic to my MIL. She doesn’t mind used lip glosses and she will look better with them than me!!!
