Bat those false eyelashes!

March 11, 2009 Paris B 23 Comments

Ever since my first experience with false eyelashes, I’ve been wanting to try wearing them again. However, I’ve failed at every turn to put on the Shu Uemura pair I had from my first and last experience. So, what did I do? I turned to I Nuovi since I’d been told that their false eyelashes are bestseller items.

I decided to try the I Nuovi Pro Lash 05 (RM20) in a very simple fuss free design. The reason I picked these was because they are not a full lash as you can see, but only about three quarters of a lash. This way, I don’t have to trim the lash to fit my eye, yet I’ll get a nice effect of long curled lashes at the corners!

The set I had comes with 4 lashes (RM5 each only!) and a little tube of glue. This is so useful for people like me who don’t have any eyelash glue to start with! The glue is sealed and you have to poke a hole in it yourself, but its not a bother. The only thing I might have to suggest an improvement on is to have a pointed end to the applicator. It makes application of glue easier and less messy.

Having had no experience putting false eyelashes on myself, this is how I put false lashes on myself:-

  1. Curl, line and apply mascara on my natural lashes.
  2. Carefully pick up the false lash from the pack. Match it against my eye to make sure it fits naturally.
  3. Run the edge of the false eyelash against the white glue then let it dry a little. The glue turns transparent as it dries.
  4. When the glue is nearly all transparent, I tilt my head up and look downwards in the mirror.
  5. Carefully place the outside edge of the false lash against my lash line as close to the natural lash line as I can manage and pat the rest of it in to ensure it sticks.
  6. Bat your lashes – you’re done!

And I was done too! It was so easy I was amazed. If I can do it, so can you! 😛

I know what some of you might be thinking – “It doesn’t even look like you have falsies on” and yes my dears, that is the effect I wanted because relaxed though my work place might be, I did not want to walk in with eyelashes like Mr. Snuffleupagus 😛 Don’t know who that is? Think Big Bird’s elephantine friend from Sesame Street 😀

And here, because I can, is a side shot of my nice new lush long lashes!

inuovilash2

Ah… I lurve them! They are like my lashes but better 😀

After I was done at the end of the day, I carefully removed the falsies from my eyes, cleaned away the glue residue and replaced them in the case to be used again another day when I’m feeling adventurous 🙂

Here are some other tips for taking care of your false eyelashes which was shared with me by various makeup artists:-

Taking care of your false eyelashes: Do not curl your false eyelashes or apply mascara on them. This will spoil the existing curl and the lashes. There is no need to wash your false eyelashes if you do not apply products on them. If you plan to wash your falsies, wash them gently in warm water. Always store your falsies in a box which should be a hard case so they don’t lose their curl or get flattened.

Next attempt – glamour lashes with diamante! 😀 Dare I?! 😛

Do you have any more tips for taking care of your false eyelashes? Do you have tips for making it easier to wear false eyelashes? Want to talk about falsies? Do share!

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

Nice and natural on you! I’m very frightened of those which look like spider legs on some young gals I’ve seen.

      Hi Nikki

Thank you! It was quite nerve wracking putting it on. I’m just glad I didn’t have to trim it!

      Hi rinnah

Actually I found it more uncomfortable having someone put it on rather than doing it myself. Give it a shot! 😉

Hi there ! My first time dropping a note here cause I want to say thank you for this post ! I have a pair of falsies purchased 2 years back and I just couldnt figure out how to use it as it looks wayyyy too long. After reading your post, i only know there’s such thing as 3 quarter lenght falsies. No wonder ! I need to cut mine into 2 !! *shy, hide face*.

Am loving it so much, I think I will be addicted d. Btw, try this Misha brand also. It looks sooo natural and soft.

      Hi bleusnow

Thanks and I’m glad the post was of help to you! We don’t find Missha easily here in Malaysia which is a pain, but I’ll be sure to check it out when I see it.

You can try Guardian pharmacy or Sasa. If they’re not available then they are no longer available locally.
