Preview: Estee Lauder Fuschia Collection – Spring 2009

January 30, 2009 Paris B 17 Comments

While I never paid much attention to Givenchy, I used to look at lot at Estee Lauder – the skincare. The makeup bored me because I felt they looked too “old”. Ah! But then I age and Estee Lauder doesn’t 😛 And suddenly, with the new Fuschia Now Spring 2009 collection, Estee Lauder looks interesting again!

I blame Karen (in a nice way of course) for making me look twice at Estee Lauder’s Spring 2009 collection. I don’t usually wear pinks and purples on the eyes for fear of looking abused, but the new Estee Lauder eyeshadows are really quite something and now, I suddenly want to check them out.

Today, I stopped by the Estee Lauder counter to take a look and hurrah! The Fuschia Now collection is available! So of course I had to play with them and pick up some swatches for your viewing pleasure 😉

Over here, although the name of the Spring 2009 collection is Fuschia Now, there are 2 sets of Eyeshadow Duos (RM85 each) and matching lipsticks, lipglosses and cream blushes. The sets are divided into warm and cool colours.

The Fuschia collection appears to be the cooler coloured set and that was the one I was eyeing. The eyeshadow duo (RM85) has a cute flower print on it and the duo is Indigo – a very light pink and dark purple-grey. I loved the combination and would have bought it if it was just a little more shimmery. Unfortunately, it tends to be on the matte side especially the purple, so I regretfully had to pass. Here are some swatches on my hand.

The Aubergine Duo is the cooler eyeshadow duo and although it looks beige and purple in the pan, it swatches beige and brown. In fact you can barely see the beige. I felt it was too flat and blah. Such a pity! Both eye duos were so pretty!

I loved the Signature Lustre Lipstick in 51 – the rosier colour. I cannot be sure but this might be the Rich Berry of the collection. It went on smooth and had no discernable fragrance. The packaging too looks sleek. If I were to get one item from this collection, it might be this lipstick! I’ve always been a fan of Estee Lauder Pure Color lipsticks. The colours aren’t exciting and the fig smell gets to some people but I like the smooth non drying texture and opaque colour. I haven’t tried the Signature Lustre line so this might be a good chance to.

And like Chocolate Decadence, the Estee Lauder Spring 2009 collection has a limited edition shimmer powder – Fleur de Lys shimmer powder (RM120). It looks so gorgeous in the compact!

You can sweep over all the colors for a shimmery pink radiance for the face. The colours were applied with a brush and I knew right off it would only be suitable as a pink shimmer blush. Apply it all over your face and you risk looking burnt.

The Estee Lauder Fuschia Now Spring 2009 collection is available exclusively only at Isetan KLCC, Isetan The Gardens and Parkson Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

Oh and I also saw and played with the Estee Lauder Turbolash vibrating mascara which I will compare with the Lancome Oscillation in an upcoming post. You won’t want to miss that one right? 😉

Enjoy the weekend – more CNY feasting to go! 😀

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

You got me on the chocolate collection and I need this more than anything else too! i am heading to gardens ASAP. i need to play with that LE palette. the colour is just too gorgeous! but i think i’d pass the eye shadows judging from the look. maybe too common. well, i have a lot of eye shadows so it’s hard to find a shade i don’t have. ha!

    stop feeding me EL stuff.

Hey Jojoba, I guessed this one would catch your eye heh… The LE palettes are gorgeous but I just found them way too matte – A little more shimmer would have been perfect! But that lipstick is making eyes at me though ergh!

Hi prettybeautiful, I prefer the cooler toned set too. I either sneak or ask and sometimes they oblige sometimes they don’t.

    Hi Paris,

You beat me to writing about this. haha! I was planning to go next week to Midvalley to check it out myself, then write a review. Can’t go for the past week cos of all the open houses and CNY stuff going on. I called my usual EL counter at Metrojaya Midvalley today. They also have it there and launching the Spring collection on 3rd Feb til 9th. They are also having a complimentary makeup consultation with their makeup artists for the new collection. It’s by appointment.

Anyways, I like the cool colour lipsticks and gloss and the warm colour eyeshadow. the shimmer powder looks very pretty though. Can’t wait to check it out next week.

Hi Vonvon, How strange. I was told it was only at those 3 outlets! The shimmer powder is gorgeous! Both to look at and to use.

Btw, the Turbo lash is cool right. I tried it out 2 weeks ago, and I wrote a short review about it in my blog. Think I sent you the link few days ago. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

Hi Ann, The shimmer powder is very pretty – I didn’t find it a very fresh pink though, more like a rosey shimmer but do try it on and see for yourself because we all take colours differently 🙂

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
