As 2008 draws to a close, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the past year and also, to thank all readers for all the support I have received thus far. I’ll be honest – the support from you is what keeps me going even though sometimes, when I get hit by writer’s block, I have this urge to say “Dash it all!” and its what has turned this site from something of a little hobby to a bit of a part time job. But I have enjoyed it and am still enjoying it and I hope you are too! The other side of things has seen some readers and fellow bloggers become friends and some pretty good friends at that!
I’d also like to express my appreciation to all the sponsors of the Giveaways that I’ve had in 2008. There were a few sponsored ones held and quite a few happy winners. I hope to continue to receive support from sponsors in 2009 so there will be even more giveaways and even more happy winners in 2009. I am currently working on something slated for the first quarter of 2009 and I think it will be fun so watch out for it. 🙂
In review, 2008 has been a momentous year for me, where I think I finally found and set the direction My Women Stuff was heading towards. I am thankful for any bit of traffic I get and I am thankful for everyone of you sharing it with me 🙂 Here’s some of the more popular posts in 2008 on My Women Stuff – some are what I enjoyed writing most, others are what you enjoyed most and some are just milestones I’d like to mark.
January
Buying makeup on a budget – was it a dire prediction of things to come at the end of 2008? 🙂 Some products may no longer be available or I might have changed my mind but the principle remains sound.
February
More makeup on a budget and some discussion on cosmetic companies that test on animals.
March
My Women Stuff celebrated its first year of existence and Make Up For Ever Super Matte loose powder got some lovin’! It still remains a staple in my arsenal.
April
I ran my first giveaway with Revlon and I also found NYX Cosmetics in Singapore. A highlight of the month for me was a feature in the New Straits Times newspaper 😀
May
I found my holy grail eyeliner in the Guerlain Kohl Eye Pencil – I am very protective of it! I also worked out some dupes of the infamous Nars Orgasm blush from brands in my stash; and pissed some people off when I said I wasn’t quite keen on the big eye contact lens LOL….
June
I had an Ikea inspiration on how to store my makeup brushes and I complained about Nars’ horrid melting rubber cases. There was also a lively discussion on how to apply concealer and the magic concealer brings into our lives.
July
There were some thoughts about chemical and physical sunscreens and I found 2 staple skincare products – The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost and the Eucerin White Solution Extra Treatment Fluid.
August
I pondered on looking better even when ill (!!) and learnt how to use cleansing oils effectively.
September
Rimmel and Majolica Majorca hit Malaysian shores causing some sort of nationwide frenzy 😉 Add to that the Rootote craze and you have a very broke Paris B and readers this month!
October
I had a Turkish delight in the form of a Hamman and Gommage at a Turkish spa in Bangsar and a wonderful birthday present from Marie Claire. 🙂
November
I picked up swatches of the pretty Guerlain Midnight Butterfly Christmas collection and gave some thoughts to the Mac and Shu Uemura holiday brush sets. I also tried on false eyelashes for the first time but since then, I’ve not found the patience or willing to try it again! I should.
December
I ran the mother of all giveaways and was floored by the 200+ Christmas Giveaway entries! I finally received the Sonia Kashuk brushes I’d been coveting forever, my sister got married and I picked up some tips for evening makeup and eeps! went for my first Pap smear!
Which brings 2008 to a happy close. I hope 2008 has been a good year for you too, and that 2009 will be even better. Here’s wishing all friends and readers a very Happy New Year in 2009 with lots of laughter, joy and love in your lives!
Stay beautiful,
~ Paris B ~

Happy New Year to you Paris!
I chanced upon your blog when I was Googling something on cosmetics some time in Summer 2008. I bookmarked it. Then when I accompanied hubby on a business trip abroad, I was surfing the net and decided to explore your blog after reading several interesting articles you wrote. Now I’m hooked!!! Every morning when I sat down at the comp, I found myself opening the bookmark of your blog before even reading the news or checking my mails. Sometimes, when I don’t see a new post, deep in my heart, I actually felt a tinge of disappointment. (I know you are very busy, but just can’t help it).Your blog just makes me wanting more and more.
And the whole thing, especially you, has given me an inspiration………to start my own blog in 2009. it’s gonna be on a variety of topics from my professional interest in Medicine to beauty and fashion, food, etc. but first of all, I have to brush up on my web literacy skill.
Looking forward to reading more on your blog in 2009. and to participate in future Giveaways too. 😉
Keep up the great work!!
