Fashionable and Stylish Lunch Totes

November 2, 2008 Paris B 21 Comments

I’ve started bringing lunch to work for 2 reasons – costs and health. My regular chap fun (economy rice) stall moved away and with it, my source of decently priced lunch food. So, after a few trial and errors, I’ve taken to making lunch boxes. Turns out its pretty fun, builds creativity and it helped me lose weight too! 🙂

The only thing is that I’m lugging my lunch to work in a quite unfashionable eco-friendly grocery bag. Whilst loving the environment, I wish I had access to these funky lunch bags. Just look at them!

Fashionable lunch bags

The ones on the left are by Murval. They are padded lunch totes which will keep your food insulated and fold flat when empty for easy storage. I love the giraffe design pictured and patent quilted vinyl versions. I mean, look at that patent quilted one – it looks just like a stylish handbag! The price is US$16-18 (RM56-63).

The ones on the right are by Built NY and made of neoprene – the same fabric used for scuba diving suits. Not only is it durable and lightweight it also folds flat for storage and can keep your food warm. It sells for US$22-25 (RM88)

Currently available on Give Simple, I’m tempted by the patent quilted bag. It’ll encourage me to continue bringing lunch to work, that’s for sure! Or maybe even those colourful Built NY ones. I don’t think the Murval one is currently available in Malaysia but I scouted around online and saw that I might be able to get Built NY lunch bags locally at The Baby Loft. Sure, its a baby store but one has to think out of the box yes? 🙂 They are pricey here though so I’m looking for a cheaper yet stylish alternative. Still, nothing to stop me from popping by their store to take a look (if I ever figure out how to get to Desa Park City!)

Does anyone know if there are any funky looking lunch bags like these available in Malaysia?

I ALWAYS pack my lunch to work because it’s just too expensive to eat out for every meal. Strangely, shopping is cheap in melbourne but when it comes to food, it’s SO dear to eat out! What I got was an insulated polar bag which is meant to cart a 6pack around. HAHA! It works but it’s kinda bulky and not as pretty as these ones here. I might buy a more fashionable one, seriously 😉

@Tine : Yeah I’d love to pick up a cute one for a decent price.

@plue: Best part, it insulates too!

@geekchic: Where you are, I can just imagine the cost of eating out everyday! It would be nice to have a fashionable lunch bag eh?

Wow! These sure beat bringing along lunch in my daughter’s ‘Dora’ metal lunch box (when I do bring something from home, that is)!! I mean, I think its cool that despite being a full grown woman, I am still able to walk around lugging that metal thing about without blushing but I guess its got to do with not having them when I was a schoolgirl. I am lusting after the bottom right one at this very moment!
