Stila Cosmetics New Talking Palettes

October 2, 2008 Paris B 9 Comments

I’ll be honest. Like many people I sniggered a little at the Stila Smokey Eye Talking Palette. Gimmick! I dismissed it with an airy wave of my hand.

Stila Talking Palettes 2008

However, not everyone sees it as a gimmick. For some people, a talking palette is useful to help you figure out just where to place that particular eyeshadow colour without looking like you have been punched in the eye. Also, the texture of the Stila Smokey Eye quad is quite good. So, banking on this, Stila has come out with a whole slew of New Talking Palettes!

On top of the current Smokey Eye palettes, there will be some new talking palettes released in October 2008 (in the USA) and for Malaysia, expect them to come in around the same time as the Stila Holiday 2008 stuff which is likely to be November 2008.

Stila Paint your pout red palette

Stila Paint Your Pout Red Palette – RM190

A palette with 4 lip colours in it, and a lip brush, designed to help you create the perfect red pout for your lips. I think its most appropriate for the coming Holiday season where shimmery makeup and red lips abound. Think New Years Eve and kissing under the mistletoe 😉

Stila Day to Night Palette

Stila Day to Night Palette – RM190

All the makeup you need in one handy palette to take you from day to night seamlessly. Best of all, if you don’t know how to work it, it’ll help talk you through it! There are 4 eyeshadow colours (1 is a split pan duo) and one convertible color I think. I’m not sure of the actual names of the products. I like that they have brought back the Stila girls on the packaging. It looks like the Stila girls have grown up but its an embodiment of Stila so I like that.

Another 2 palettes not featured are the Smokey Eye palette in Platinum and Sapphire and Purrfect Eyes (not sure if we are getting them) And of course, Stila’s Holiday 2008 collection features a Record your Message talking palette where you can record your own message for your friend. Just keep it clean in case she activates it in public! 😉

    Summer, you’ve gotta prime your eyes if u have an oily lid. As for me, neither to say since i’ve an oily skin. If your shadows usually wash out in the noon, try a more pigmented shadows, it def stay the whole day with primed eyes(eye base). From my experience, I would recommend Stila/ Mac/ Benefit/ Kanebo/ RMK but if you are on budget, try Majolica Majorca or Loreal. 😉

    I’m a-liking the colours, especially the smokey eye one. Hmm I wonder if it’s out in Australia yet.

    @summer : If you have oily lids, do as Smiley says and use a primer on your lids. If you don’t have one, use concealer or foundation. It helps the eyeshadow stay on. It is not really a brand issue but a lids issue so solve your oily lids problem and any brand will be good.

    @Monstro: Hehe… they are cute aren’t they?

    @Tine : Do tell! The smokey one isn’t bad to be honest! Though you should have stocked up in the USA where its a lot cheaper! 😉

    I heard some makeup artist said don’t always try to sub eye primer for foundation or concealer unless you are sure they can be used. The easiest way to tell is by looking at the SPF label. Foundation with SPF should be avoided on lids as far as I know. Has anyone heard of this too?
