Eyeglasses and sunglasses direct to you

September 4, 2008 Paris B 6 Comments

Last weekend, saw me browsing through the sunglasses rack trying to replace my current pair. I don’t wear prescription glasses anymore but sunglasses in our hot glaring tropical sun is more of a health necessity than a fashion statement for me. I did not quite end up buying one, but after playing around with many, I realised that the huge sunglasses ala Victoria Beckham do nothing for me but give me bug eyes. Pity, because other than being “in” it is also big enough to protect my eyes and part of my face.

I’ve seen many nice looking sunnies online but without the ability to try them on, I am a little wary about it. So, it was quite refreshing to come across EyeBuyDirect.com that has a nifty little gadget that allows you to virtually try on your spectacles or sunglasses. You upload your photograph and then test whichever pair of spectacles catch your fancy. It does need a full frontal picture though. I didn’t have one so all my photos look skewed but it was great fun playing with it anyway.

If you wear prescription glasses then there is a pretty large selection at EyeBuyDirect.com to choose from too from fashion glassess to designer frames. You do need to know your eyesight power though, so nip down to an optician or doctor and get your prescription reading then upload it after you have chosen your frame and wait for your glasses to arrive in the mail. EyeBuyDirect ships internationally (by courier service) and accepts credit cards and paypal.

As I said, I don’t need prescription glasses anymore, but I’ll wait and see how their sunglasses range improve since its still new.

I just bought a new pair of sunnies, I love the BIG victoria beckham glass, but just the right size! My face is weird, I have to try them on to really see if it works. The site is really helpful though..it’s COOL! I will probablyl give it a look for fun! 😀

@Nikki : Lucky you to be able to wear them! My face is too wide I think. I look like a bug

Hey cool! Will go check it out. Though my fabulously flat nose makes it hard to predict if any type of glasses will slide down it easily! So still have to try first. But at least I can check out what shapes suit my face 🙂

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve been buying online for three years now, but being from the UK my favorite site with a try on feature is at http://www.nuglasses.co.uk. Have a look if you are from the UK.

Oh, I’m trying to get a pair of sunnies too, but nothing in the current big sunnies trend seems to make me look nice! 🙁
